perez. sunday night first responders from our area head to puerto rico to help raise much needed supplies >> a puppy is found abandoned along a busy road in south philadelphia. the big story is the arrest of man who police say tried to run down a sheriff's deputy in south philadelphia last night. >> and he did so with a missing 14-year-old inside his car. action news reporter bob brooks has the story. >> reporter: we tell neighbors what happened here and their south philadelphia neighborhood they're stunned. >> i don't even know hows at the word. i'm in shock. >> i don't understand that to be total honest with you. >> reporter: police say it's where a 32-year-old man was found in his car with him a missing 14-year-old girl. >> i believe he should be locked up. >> reporter: police also say that same man attacked a philadelphia sheriff's deputy the weapon he used his car. it happened last night around 11:30 at the intersection of seventh and bigler, according to the police report, two sheriff's deputies were working on a task

force to locate a runway 14-year-old girl. they spotted her with the suspect the at the intersection in his car. the deputies tried to get him to cooperate. instead they say he hit the gas and one of them. police say after harley hit the deputy he took off to johnson street and sure enough that's where they would find his white pontiac grand prix. after the impact. the side view mirror fell off. the deputy was knocked to the ground. luckily no one was seriously injured, that includes the 14-year-old. harley would be caught soon after >> the man is no good. he deserves whatever he gets. >> reporter: again the suspect's name, devon harley faces aggravated assault charges, bob brooks, channel 6 action news. a 47-year-old man is hospitalized after he says he was shot trying to stop a woman from being robbed. police say the victim was shot in the chest at about 5:30 this morning at emerald and atlantic in kensington. afterwards he crashed his car into a parked car on frankford avenue.

taken to temple hospital where he remains in stable condition tonight. so far no arrest have been made after a man was shot twice in the back. it happened in the germantown section of philadelphia. police say the victim was shot before 1:00 this morning along the unit block west sharp neck street. the victim was taken to einstein where he's expected to survive. so far no information about a motive and no arrests frightening moments in south philadelphia, a dog was spotted along a busy stretch of road a little too close do traffic. annie mccormick is live at the scene with the details annie? >> reporter: sarah, this hour police are not able to confirm how this dog got there. of the it was right here on this legend that that dog was discovered right underneath 76. you can see the busy interstate. these are pictures sent in by viewers that were concerned and called police when they saw the dog scare and anxious in the corner over there. we're told that the delaware

river port authority police did respond and also, philadelphia police as well. the delaware river port authority police were able to get the dog to safety. now, at this hour, philadelphia police saying the dog was returned to its owners and is safe at this hour again though, they are thankful to the people who did call that were concerned to get the dog to safety. reporting live in south philadelphia. annie mccormick channel 6. philadelphia schools closed last week because of mold will rail closed tomorrow, the john w kelly elementary school will be closed to students and staff. mold found last week apparently caused by hvac issues. the work is continuing but not done. staff should continue to report to the hill freedman world academy on mt. pleasant avenue. >> army corp of engineers
