perez. sunday night first responders from our area head to puerto rico to help raise much needed supplies >> a puppy is found abandoned along a busy road in south philadelphia. the big story is the arrest of man who police say tried to run down a sheriff's deputy in south philadelphia last night. >> and he did so with a missing 14-year-old inside his car. action news reporter bob brooks has the story. >> reporter: we tell neighbors what happened here and their south philadelphia neighborhood they're stunned. >> i don't even know hows at the word. i'm in shock. >> i don't understand that to be total honest with you. >> reporter: police say it's where a 32-year-old man was found in his car with him a missing 14-year-old girl. >> i believe he should be locked up. >> reporter: police also say that same man attacked a philadelphia sheriff's deputy the weapon he used his car. it happened last night around 11:30 at the intersection of seventh and bigler, according to the police report, two sheriff's deputies were working on a task

force to locate a runway 14-year-old girl. they spotted her with the suspect the at the intersection in his car. the deputies tried to get him to cooperate. instead they say he hit the gas and one of them. police say after harley hit the deputy he took off to johnson street and sure enough that's where they would find his white pontiac grand prix. after the impact. the side view mirror fell off. the deputy was knocked to the ground. luckily no one was seriously injured, that includes the 14-year-old. harley would be caught soon after >> the man is no good. he deserves whatever he gets. >> reporter: again the suspect's name, devon harley faces aggravated assault charges, bob brooks, channel 6 action news. a 47-year-old man is hospitalized after he says he was shot trying to stop a woman from being robbed. police say the victim was shot in the chest at about 5:30 this morning at emerald and atlantic in kensington. afterwards he crashed his car into a parked car on frankford avenue.

taken to temple hospital where he remains in stable condition tonight. so far no arrest have been made after a man was shot twice in the back. it happened in the germantown section of philadelphia. police say the victim was shot before 1:00 this morning along the unit block west sharp neck street. the victim was taken to einstein where he's expected to survive. so far no information about a motive and no arrests frightening moments in south philadelphia, a dog was spotted along a busy stretch of road a little too close do traffic. annie mccormick is live at the scene with the details annie? >> reporter: sarah, this hour police are not able to confirm how this dog got there. of the it was right here on this legend that that dog was discovered right underneath 76. you can see the busy interstate. these are pictures sent in by viewers that were concerned and called police when they saw the dog scare and anxious in the corner over there. we're told that the delaware

river port authority police did respond and also, philadelphia police as well. the delaware river port authority police were able to get the dog to safety. now, at this hour, philadelphia police saying the dog was returned to its owners and is safe at this hour again though, they are thankful to the people who did call that were concerned to get the dog to safety. reporting live in south philadelphia. annie mccormick channel 6. philadelphia schools closed last week because of mold will rail closed tomorrow, the john w kelly elementary school will be closed to students and staff. mold found last week apparently caused by hvac issues. the work is continuing but not done. staff should continue to report to the hill freedman world academy on mt. pleasant avenue. >> army corp of engineers

was fairly a warm day mid october. not the 80 degrees temperatures we were hoping for. meteorologist melissa magee is here now with a look at what we can expect for the work week ahead. cooler, melissa >> changes up ahead starting as early as tomorrow but as you mentioned today we were stuck in the gray and the cloud cover because we certainly didn't have enough sunshine to get our temperatures where we were expecting them to be. and yesterday, philadelphia with a high temperature of 73, today's high 72. still above the average high for this time of year, 67. outside tonight, it's 71 in philadelphia, 61 in the poconos. 69 in allentown at the coast in cape may, 72, down in dover, we're coming in at 73. here's satellite 6 along with action radar starting to see the clouds spin out across the delaware and lehigh valley. we had a south westerly wind but not much of the southerly wind to scour out the cloud covers and lower levels of the atmosphere but we'll widen out

the picture. there's a cold front stretched out from new england back through portions of the great lakes and the ohio valley. this will work its way to the south and east. as we go throughout the rest of tonight. with that comes changes. few showers on the way for rest of tonight's it gets cooler on monday with a bit of a frost feel overhead and it's sunny and dry stretch, we got the details coming up with the exclusive accu-weather forecast. sarah. officials in northern california say conditions are gradually improving. and firefighters are beginning to get the upper hand on more than a dozen wildfires. winds are expected to diminish during the evening hours but will remain warm and dry several days. containment numbers on all the major fires are up. residents in the hardest hit areas beginning to come home, firefighters warn certain neighborhoods are still incredibly dangerous >> we understand the desire to get back everyone wants to be at home. unfortunately, there are conditions that are out here that still do not allow us to

released about this case at this time. turning now to the accu-weather forecast, it's going to feel more seasonal this week. >> definitely. more sunshine returning and tomorrow, a bit of a cool start with temperatures starting out in the 50's across the region. we'll show you what's going on. action cam outside earlier. at eakins oval for the 31st annual aids walk. you can see a lot of folks gathering and look up at the sky. of we had a fair amount of cloud cover overhead. looking at the center city skyline and you notice if you look closely the clouds finally starting to break apart but we certainly did have enough cloud cover overhead today to get our temperatures below where we're anticipating them to be. here's storm tracker 6 double scan radar. it's dry, quiet, we're not tracking precipitation right now but there's a cold front off to the north and west, that swings through during the overnight hours and then behind that much cooler air arrives for monday. 71 degrees outside in philadelphia. 70 in reading, 69 in allentown at the coast in cape may, 71 in

dover, coming in in the lower 70's. the wind direction was also very key do i today. south westerly wind sustained in the city ten miles per hour, 14 miles per hour in reading, overnight into monday, the winds will shift and come out of the northwestly direction and that will provide us with cooler air, here's satellite 6 along with action news radar. clouds starting to thin out across the delaware and lehigh valleys look off to the west and we're tracking a cold front approaching from the eastern great lakes and the ohio valley. this works its way later on tonight and during the overnight hours with a couple of showers the way. for the rest of tonight it's mostly cloudy, we're tracking that precipitation during the overnight hours. otherwise we'll drop down to 52. lancaster 53 and allentown 60 and philadelphia 61 and millville 60 in cape may. here's future tracker 6. timing out the precipitation. we got the south westerly wind this fronts moves through by 11:00. couple showers there in the
