other months old. now the question is to figure out how and why this happened. you can see the investigation still going on outside of the home where they were found. segments have -- investigators have crime scene unit. the mother has been questioned. something almost impossible to come to grips with. police say this morning inside of this home on ninth street in wilmington they find two children dead. neighbors we spoke with are simply heartbroken. >> there are so many little kids that run around here. >> reporter: the wilmington police chief says the horrific discovery was made around 8:30 this :30 this morning. >> the initial call with a well being check on children. upon our arrival that's when our officers discovered two children deceased. >> reporter: the children's mother made the call. the officers ran into the home despite an extremely strong odor of gas coming from it. >> we evacuated the building opened up the doors to make sure it was safe to go back

in. >> reporter: the chief says it was too late that the boys ages five and the others months old had passed away before help arrived. the likely cause. >> possibly drowning. >> reporter: the chief says the suspect is mother is the suspect. they're not looking for anyone at this point. as the investigation continues to figure out why this tragedy happened many thoughts and prayers from this neighborhood are being sent out. >> it makes me so sad because they're so many little kids that run around this neighborhood. >> reporter: and even some reflection by some as they watch this terrible ordeal unfold. >> for my community i'm just saying like we all have to stick together at some point. if you see someone going through something, ask thiemia their how their day is going because of things like this you never know. >> reporter: another live look here you can see investigators packing up all those bags of evidence. at this point no word on who the mother of these children are but again, just a five-year-old and a months old baby. for now reporting live in wilmington, bob brooks channel6 "action news."

>> all right, bob, thank you. we will continue to follow this story throughout the evening on air and on 6abc.com. right now you can find the latest updates all of our reports from "action news" and raw video of police right there on the scene. >> a driver was shot and killed in the tioga-nicetown section of philadelphia and the gunman is still on the run. police found 27-year-old brian gravely slumped over in the driver's seat of a vehicle on the 1700 block of wheat west erie avenue. now he had been shot in the head and was pronounced dead at the scene. a 26-year-old passenger was shot in the lower back. he is listed in critical condition at temple hospital. so far no word just yet on a possible motive. police are also searching for the driver responsible for a deadly hit-and-run in southwest philadelphia late last night on the 2300 block of south 67th street. the victim a man in his 40's was killed while using a crosswalk. investigators say they're looking for a gray van that left the scene. you're asked to contact police

57 degrees. there's a pretty strong fall front that is passing through here, again, voiding the areas to the north and west and we'll continue to see those clouds depart to the south and east as we go through the evening and overnight hours. with the clear skies coming in temperatures are going to tumble overnight tonight. lows will be in the mid 30's in those northern western suburbs, also interior parts of south jersey, 43 for philadelphia making this the coldest night forecasted since may eighth. so, as we go into the frost advisories here for late tonight into tomorrow morning, again, anywhere north and west of that pennsylvania turnpike, quakertown, coats town reading allentown interior sections of south jersey, wilmington chadds ford could see a little frost to start our tuesday morning. we'll talk about that big turn around in the temperatures sharrie in the full accuweather forecast and again all that of sunshine, a pretty extended sunny stretch on the way. >> like the sound of it.

adam see you in a bit. a local activist coalition is calling for a boycott of next week's nfl games including the eagles game next monday night in direct response to the therefore surrounding colin kaepernick who blames the league for black ball him. walter perez covering the story live in center city with details on what this protest is about. walter. >> reporter: hi, sharrie, that coalition includes a local chapters of the ncaa p and the national action network. this issue came to ahead when colin kaepernick filed a grievance claiming that nfl owners colluded to keep him from getting picked up after he left the 49ers last season and of course it all started when he first took a knee during the national anthem. those protesters are referring to their initiative as a national call-out urging people to boycott the nfl this coming sunday and they say they will be protesting outside the linc when the eagles play on monday fight.

the organizers says he believes colin kaepernick is being blackballed. >> we support their efforts to bring attention to and shed light upon the devastating police brutality that is impacted the black community for so long. >> reporter: even on a local level this photo was taken of football players from phoenixville high school. citing privacy rules school officials made no comment regarding any possible punishment the but the superintendent sent a statement saying in part the players were respect full and simply exercising their constitutional rights. this afternoon president trump softened his assertion that protesting players should be fired but he didn't back down altogether. >> the nfl should have suspended some of these players for one game, not fire them, suspended them for one game and then if they did it again it could have been two games, three games then the

the president touched on broad range of topics including the russia investigation. he says he is not considering firing special council robert mueller. >> the whole russia thing was an excuse for the democrats losing the election. there has been absolutely no collusion. it's been stated that they have no collusion. they ought to get to the end of it because i think the american public is sick of it. >> the president also talked about working with democrats saying he likes the idea of it but he also said democrats are "very good at obstruction." he says they are against the major tax cuts that he's asking congress to pass. >> a federal judge dealt a major set back to bob menendez. a u.s. supreme court ruling narrowing the definition of bribery threatened to crush the case by prosecutors but the judge cited a separate federal court ruling. menendez could go to prison for decades if convicted.

army sergeant bowe bergdahl entered a guilty plea on charges of desertion. he was captured by taliban forces after walking away from his post eight years ago. he was held captive for five years before a prisoner swap brought him back in 2014. bergdahl entered a plea without striking a deal with prosecutors. he faces life in prison when end is -- sentenced later this month. >> a blast happened early sunday evening. a flurry of 911 calls rushed in with reports of a large fire ball and loud bang near lake pontchartrain. seven people were injured when the oil and gas platform exploded. crews are using boats and helicopters to continue to look for that missing worker. >> the devastation continues in northern california today in the wake of those deadly and destructive wildfires. the death toll has risen to at least 40 this afternoon and

more than 200 people are still listed as missing. this is what it still looks like today. the raging wildfires have already scotch -- scorched acres. one evacuated couple have been looking for their dog. when the flames died down 33 they went in search for the pup. the reunion couldn't have been happier for izzy and their family. >> for the first several days he went where we went. it's been really wonderful. >> look how hippuses to get a little head rub there. finally today crews say they are reporting progress as better weather offers a chance to get the upper hand on these flames finally. it's been, again, over a week. they said the winds have calmed down.

extended sunshine starting tomorrow lasting through the upcoming weekend and high pressure in control for several days and those temperatures are going to quickly warm here as we go into the middle and into the end of the week. talking about california needing some rain, we're not going to get any opportunity for rain here tuesday, right through saturday. 0 percent chance. every single day. and in fact, could almost be a 0 percent chance of seeing some cloud cover as well. as we look at the numbers right now 58 for allentown, reading, philadelphia. 57 trenton, 61 in millville, upper 50's for dover. we're on the flip side of normal. we've been so far above normal through most of this month. this is really the first day we've gotten that october chill. in fact, winds also adding to that feel. 14 reading, philadelphia, 12 in millville, 16 in dover. the winds will calm down a little bit overnight tonight and that's what's going to also help out some of that frost to develop in the suburbs. as we look at satellite and radar, there's the heavier clouds, new jersey, delaware,

they're going off the coast. clouds backaching breaking apart in central and northern pennsylvania. 35 in allentown, 36 reading, 39 trenton, 39 millville, 40 wilmington. philadelphia at 43 with patchy frost feeling brisk and chilly. future tracker temperatures tomorrow morning at 8:30, 30's north and west, 41 in trenton, 45 in dover. as we get into the afternoon tomorrow, temperatures aren't going to recover a whole lot even with that sunshine. stopping in the upper 50's to around 60 degrees so, yes, another day below normal but then we really gain ground here as we get into wednesday afternoon, 70 philadelphia, 67 allentown as we go back above normal. this is going to be a very easy four day at 4:00 forecast for you. take a look at all that of sunshine. every single day turning back to the 70's on wednesday, thursday, friday, a fall beauty at 74. and temperatures will be near

ask us how specifi can help you reach your potential. >> ♪ >> well, now that the beachgoers have disappeared crews are tearing up part of the boardwalk in ocean city. they're using heavy equipment to remove the entire structure so it can be replaced. the work is being done between tenth and 12th streets. this is the final phase of the five year rebuild project. it's expected to be wrapped up by march. >> well, many people think of philadelphia for its, here we go hustle and bustle but a conference here in town sees another side of the city. mayor jim kenney welcomed the indoor agricultural conference to the academy of fine arts. the top minds in farming heard how philadelphia uses its green space to bring plants to life. philadelphia parks and recreation land is home to over 40 community gardens and orchards. well, jimmy kimmel is back in brooklyn this week.

trenton. new jersey correspondent nora muchanic live this afternoon near the middle school where several of the victims were attacked. nora, you've got the details here. >> reporter: brian, scary stuff for these kids heading to class in the morning. two gropings occurred here to girls on their way to hedgepeth william middle school here in town. another happened in chambersberg in september. police released a video clip of the suspect hoping that someone might recognize him or his clothes. this is the man police in trenton are looking for seen here for just a couple seconds in a video from a home security camera. authorities believe he's the suspect who twice last week approached girls on their way to hedgepeth-williams middle school on gladstone avenue groping their breasts and buttocks. >> appears that he's becoming more aggressive and actually grabbing young females and simulating sexual acts. >> reporter: police believe the suspect is also responsible for a similar attack on a young woman walking along tenth street in at the present time.

everyone is concerned. >> i heard about it at my high school. they said that the guy was in the alley way or something and when girls would go around 'cause some of them live right over there, the guy would just grab them. >> shouldn't be having somebody like that walk around here doing that to kids. that's a shame. >> first of all i'm concerned for the safety of the kids but we encourage them to walk in groups. >> reporter: no one has been injured in the gropings but people in the area are on alert. >> i think that's awful. i mean, it's scary. there are times that i have to walk around the area here and it's just frightening. >> i say just keep your eyes opened, be aware of who is around you. police say witnesses describe the suspect as a black male 20 to 30 years old, tall and skinny with an african or haitian accent. >> he is becoming increasingly aggressive with what he's doing and we're very concerned about where this may lead so we need to get him off the streets as soon as possible. >> reporter: now, if you

recognize the suspect, or have any information police would like to hear from you. live in trenton, i'm nora muchanic channel6 "action news." brian. >> nora, thank you so much. we've got some breaking news right now and word of a major traffic situation unfolding on i-95 right now. all lanes of i-95 southbound are shut down at the i-495 southbound split and you're looking at why. state police on the scene of an overturned tractor-trailer. this happened just minutes before 4 o'clock this afternoon. there was also some word potentially that fuel might be spilling and indeed you see crews spreading some sand other highway likely to pick up that liquid. there is an asplund tree truck on its side. couple vehicles involved, the asplund which lost the chipper tree part of it went into the tractor-trailer off to the side but again all lanes southbound on i-95 shut down right now at the 495

southbound split. traffic is being diverted onto the delaware 141 ramp. we're going to watch this continue to bring you any updates but again avoid this area this afternoon. we are getting our first look at the man last seen with a missing south jersey teenager. philadelphia police released this mug shot of 32-year-old devon harley. harley was with 14-year-old hannah jones saturday night when he allegedly drove toward two sheriff's deputies in south philadelphia hitting one of them. hannah ran from the crash, has not been seen since. the fbi has joined the search for the runaway saying she could be part of a human trafficking ring. harley is facing a number of charges today including aggravated assault and reckless endangerment. >> police in philadelphia's juniata park section need your help finding a customer who attacked a wawa worker with hot coffee. surveillance video from the store on the 1300 block of east erie avenue shows the assailant arguing with the clerk last friday. police say the fight ended

when the man threw coffee onto the victim which injured him. if you have any idea who this attacker is, you're asked to contact east detectives. the man convicted of planting a bomb that injured 30 people in manhattan last year could be going to prison last night. a new york jury found ahmad raheem guilty on all charges. the 29-year-old who declared himself a soldier in a holy war against americans planted explosives in seaside heights new jersey and two locations in new york's chelsea neighborhood. only one of the bombs hurt anyone. he faces life in prison when sentenced come january. >> two young men are accused of vandalizing a montgomery county school. state police say vulgar language and swastikas defaced the windows of upper perkiomen high school in red hill. that damage was found back on october 7. they were arrested and charged in that case. medford township new jersey police want you to take

probation. his father anthony dickerson is a perfect match and eager to donate but surgeons at emory hospital canceled the operation last week after finding out that dickerson violated his parole in a weapons case. >> need you to be on good behavior for three to four months before you can give your son a kidney and in january 2018, we will think about re-evaluating you basically. >> the hospital says it needs evidence that dickerson has complied with his parole officer for three months. aj's mother is afraid her son won't make it that long. saying he weighs just 25 pounds. she has since started a petition to try to change the hospital's policy. well, this next video may be a bit hard to watch. a cheerleading coach in georgia went viral after this video surfaced over the summer. now in the video odell williams is forcing cheerleaders to do the splits. the girls can be heard begging their coach to stop. the emotional images were

blanket you'll need it tonight. as we take a look at the action cam in camden overlooking the center city skyline early on along the delaware you can see a mix of some of the cirrus clouds also some of the cumulus clouds kind of varying through different levels of the atmosphere but a little blue also popping up there and as we look live right now in our weather center from sky6 at philadelphia international airport, there you can see a little brightening to this particular sky6 again as we're starting to lose some of that cloud cover out there. as we look at some of the numbers right now it's just 57 in trenton. it is chilly out there right now. 58 allentown, reading, 59 degrees, same for wilmington, 58 philadelphia and 50's even along the shore and as we move forward into the overnight hours, we're talking after midnight, you can see how these numbers go from the 40's, right around 51 o'clock in the morning and slip into the low 40's as we get towards 7, 8 o'clock tomorrow morning. that's for the city. suburbs you can expect 30 early tomorrow morning.

as we take a look right now here at satellite and radar, you can see high pressure in control saint louis, down towards memphis as well as atlanta, chicago, that high pressure coming in and that high pressure is going to give us a decent amount of sunshine as we go through the rest of the week. so, for tonight clear, chilly some patchy frost developing again north and west of that pennsylvania turnpike, interior parts of south jersey near the pine barrens, 35 degrees there so just a couple of degrees above freezing. 43 for philadelphia. and here is that map again anywhere from coatesville near green lane in montgomery county, quakertown in bucks county, all points to the north and west and then areas in parts of salem county as well as cumberland county and also atlantic county and southeastern parts of burlington county also some patchy frost by tomorrow morning. 59 for a high tomorrow afternoon with brilliant sunshine, still a chill in the air so that sun not going to
