we are beginning this noon with breaking news in the case of two young children found dead in a wilmington apartment. the mother of one of the boys, 30-year-old is now charged with to counts of first degree murder. that she drowned the boys yesterday. it happened on west 9th street. >> she told investigators she turned on the tub and left her infant alone as it filled up with water and left the bathroom and physically assaulted the 5-year-old the son a- >> and more on the deadly uprising at a delaware prison. authorities announced indictments against 18 people in connection with the incident at the vaughn correctional center.

they took over the prison back in february resulting in the death of lieutenant steven floyd. and they unveiled the dimes handed up by a grand jury in newcastle county. all of the defendants are current inmates. six of them face first degree murder charges and others face kidnapping. and can you read more about the indictments online at 6abc.com. in south jersey investigators are looking for the cause of a fire that forced dozens of residents out of their homes. chopper 6 hd was over the scene this morning here in cherry hill. giving us a fresh look at the damage to the colonials apartment building following last night's destructive blaze. katherine scott is live at the scene at cooper landing road with the latest. >> reporter: sara the building was evacuated last night, since then most of the residents were allowed back in overnight but restoration crews are on the scene you see them doing work this noon here. there is fire damage to three

apartments. the fire department says that residents from 16 apartments are being placed in other iunities for the time being. >> and you can see the char from the fire the night before. the cleanup is underway and restoration crews are working and repairs are made as the investigation continues. it video shows the intense flames that broke out on the fifth floor of this sixth floor building. >> filled two bags and fire was coming out of the balcony. >> the cherry hill fire department and mutual said companies responded. crews began knocking on doors telling residents they had to get out. >> i heard a knock then were like get out. i was like okay this is real. >> the office banged on my door and said you have to get out and

i grabbed my children and left. i looked and it was a huge fire. really big. >> neighbors saw thick smoke and flames and grabbed their children and pets and left. >> we got outside but our apartment did have a lot of smoke in it. >> several were damaged by the fire that was placed under control at 12:30 this morning and one person was taken to the hop with smoke inhalation. >> i feel bad for the folks living in that apartment. they said they were okay. >> reporter: so far investigators did not determine the cause of the fire. that investigation continues. live in cherry hill, katherine scott, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. one person was air-lifted to the hospital following a crash on the pennsylvania turnpike. the collision involved a tractor trailer and another vehicle going eastbound here in bensalem. only one lane of traffic was getting by as police responded to the scene at 6:30 this morning.

incident and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for next month. philadelphia's controversial beverage tax was the subject of a hearing in harrisburg, and a group of business owners were about to testify for the pain they suffered because of the tax. and this comes from a city comptroller saying that the tax affected the bottom line for 60% of the businesses he surveyed. >> nfl team owners are gathered today and the national anthem protests are expected to top the agenda and league owners are sitting down with players to discuss the controversy. elizabeth herr is live now in new york city. >> reporter: it's not easy the league owners invite the players to the annual fall meeting but analysts say that desperate times call for desperate measures. the nfl owners inviting players and union reps to the owner's

is here now. it felt like winter this morning. >> good kind. >> we got down to 35 out in lancaster and reading. >> what happened? >> it was chilly. stormtracker 6 live double scan we have got very cool conditions. out there even now. but this morning some spots in the 30s for the first time in a long while. how degrees and dew points are down there and winds are calm and visibility 10 miles, lets get you outside. and a pretty picture. only place we have cloud cover is off the coast. a difference between temperature over land and water, that is allowing the clouds to form off the coast but everybody else bright blue skies and a lot of sin. 54 in philadelphia and we started in the 30s and low 40s depending where you were. and cool side but some improvement. 53 in lancaster and 55 in millville and 52 in cape may.

satellite shows you the clouds are well off the coast and new stuff developing over the water. but overland it's all sun for the most part and clouds up around toronto having a hard time defeating the high air and pressure in place. calling for sun in the lehigh valley. and chilly conditions and a high of just about 61 in allentown. down the shore lots of sun and off the coast 62 degrees is your high. and mostly sunny and chilly there. and 65 in the water and that numbers keeps dipping of course and philadelphia plenty of sun and high of just 61 degrees in the city and winds running out of the northwest and they have eased off and now the front is off the coast just 10 miles per hour breezes today and not as blustery as yesterday. and still chilly and not quite as cold as this morning. we drop to 46 in philadelphia, and suburbs chilly and some spots in the 30s.
