officer who had been working, the protest was hurt on his way home. he lost cole of his motorcycle. this happened about 1:00 this morning, the officer was rushed to are ria torres to be treated. the protesters broke out at the convention center earlier in the day, two officers were injured in that protest. both mayor jim kenney and u.s. attorney general jeff sessions spoke at the conference, catherine scott was right there. . >> reporter: pipes and drums played at the pennsylvania convention center. at the international association of chiefs of police opening ceremony got underway. mayor kenney and police commissioner richard ross welcomed local, state and federal authorities to philadelphia for the conference. that draws thousands from across the country and world >> we're proud to be experiencing a 40 year low in the crime rate and look forward to seeing the progress that

harmon, channel 6 action news. philadelphia police have made an arrest in the string of robberies in the fairmount section of the city. they made the arrest after a man allegedly grabbed the woman at gunpoint after getting out of her car, he took her purse and ran off. police were nearby, they caught him. the man isn't custody now he's the prime suspect in similar crimes in that area, that dates back to october 15th. time is 9:34, police showed up to homecoming football game this weekend in bucks county to make sure students were safe. security was tight at this year's homecoming at central bucks east high school. took ton central bucks west. in doylestown yesterday. the increased security was in response to a deer carcass that was found at the stadium last thursday. mascot is actually a deer. many students believe the carcass was meant to taunt them before their big game. the incident this morning still under investigation, it was a close game there. west won the score 14-13.

spa is launching an express bus for roosevelt boulevard. the new route will run from frankford transportation to neshaminy mall. tony stations boulevard direct will be the first route operating under nut direct bus brand. there was a big hero's welcome home for a soldier from delaware county. what great reunion, private first class, nathaniel journey was greeted with a big hug, applause and cheers in brook haven happened yesterday. he returned from a tour of duty in afghanistan. journey enlisted in the army in june of 2016 his mom surprised him with his welcome home party. he surprised her last week. journey said he missed his family and friends most of all while serving overseas and tomorrow he heads back to texas where he's stationed. thank you for your service. welcome home.
