and local police uncovered a major heroin operation what led them to the big bust. and first is new information about two 16-year-old boys shot to death in philadelphia. their killer is still at large and one of the victims was a student at st. joes prep. walter perez is live at the shooting scene. >> reporter: hi sara, as you imagine it's a day of mourning here in this part of south philadelphia. for the two men killed. one man sal, a standout hockey player at the prep. friends and family have gathered at the crime scene just feet away from the family home. the shooting took place at 8:30 last night and investigators say that the victims, 16-year-old miller and 16-year-old val tore

denuble. both were taken to the jefferson hospital where they were pronounced dead a short time later and investigators say they have started to gather leads in this case. >> there is blastic evidence on the scene and we found spent shell casings on the highway where both victims were found on the highway. and the motive we are getting is an argument that led to the shooting. >> now, a police news conference is scheduled for this afternoon to update us on this case. and meanwhile, of course anyone with information is asked to call police. reporting live, walter perez channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. police have arrested a man that allegedly shot three people killing one of them in north philadelphia. the suspect opened fire on b street at allegheny avenue.

the 40-year-old man died and a 31-year-old woman was rushed to the hospital. the suspect crashed a vehicle a few blocks away and shot a neighbor that came out and and offed to call 911. that victim is hospitalized in critical condition and the s&p was arrested and formal charges are pending. and now investigators are looking for the cause of a south street inferno. and the flames ripped through a restaurant forcing them out of their apartment. and two dogs died in the fire. katherine scott is live at the scene in queen village. >> >> reporter: right now the fire is not considered suspicious although the cause remains under investigation. there is major damage to this structure. they have already brought in heavy equipment this morning. and part of the structure has been torn down and difficult for the investigators to access the basement officials say that the

last employee locked up this morning. the fire was reported 45 minutes later. intense flames raged overnight on south street. tearing through brigitte foy a restaurant. the fire was reported at 1:15 a.m. the flames could be seen from blocks away. >> i came to look and saw the smoke everywhere and smoke coming out all the windows. >> more than 100 firefighters responded and the fire crews started with the interior attack and had to pull out of the building because of poor visibility and the threat of collapse. >> and i got deep inside of the basement of this restaurant and then they made a good decision to pull out and make it an etchterior attack. the conditions were too dangerous. >> some of the building was filled with smoke and water, and the fire was placed under

control shortly before 4:00 a.m. and for hours firefighters contended with flair-ups and the building next door was damaged and two dogs there died. late this morning heavy equipment was hauled in and the structure was torn down and passers by were stunned by what was left of their beloved neighborhood staple. >> that place has been there an icon on the corner for god knows how long. it's pretty bad. >> it was just a shock. this place has been around here for so long. and it's like i don't know what will happen without it. >> and back here live where the work continues. this part of south street is still closed off. firefighters continue to work hours later the south street head house district has released a statement calling brigitte's a

corner stone of the community for years. and stay tuned and how to help and other businesses. channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. a major heroin operation was busted overnight in juniata park section of philadelphia. police found the stash during an unrelated shooting investigation. they found the suspect in the back of a police car at 10th and russel but someone opened the door and let him out. police sent k-9s on the 900 block of russel street. and they found $100,000 worth of heroin and multiple weapons and no charges are announced in connection with the drugs. the shooting suspect has not yet been caught. turning to accuweather. it's finally time to break out the fall jackets. temperatures are expected to get cooler tonight and stay that way for the next few days. as we look outside showing you penn's landing at lunch time and clear skies and again we are on

the cool side. meteorologist, david murphy, with the first check of the forecast. >> a little bit of cloud cover forming and overall a sun and clouds mix. the rain from yesterday well off the coast and we are not expecting any precipitation today and already starting to feel the temperatures easing downward. right now in philadelphia. 62 degrees and 62 in wilmington and 61 in allentown and 63 in trenton and 59 degrees in the upper 50s and lancaster and down the shore in cape may and 60 degrees on the thermometer. we got up to 75 degrees and today if you head to the park with the pooch this afternoon it will be cooler. 66 degrees by 2:00 and i expect a high of 67 at 7:and down to 62 degrees at 6:00 and down to 54 by 10:00. we expect to continue to dip down into the 40s in the region overnight tonight. and tomorrow we wind up cooler and two who days of cooler temperatures coming your way.

police are looking for the gunman on the campus he and a friend were shot on grambling university campus in louisiana. investigators believe that the fight in the dorm room spilled into the courtyard and that is when someone opened fire. and one victim was a senior at the school and one was visiting from a nearby town. >> the world has lost a pioneer. fats domino passed away at the age of 99. that he died in jefferson parrish louisiana. he sold 110 million records including blueberry hill and a host of the other hits. army sergeant bowe bergdahl is back in a military courtroom in ft. bragg learning his fate from walking away from his post

in afghanistan in 2009. prosecutors are about to begin calling witnesses for the stenning of bergdahl. he left his post and was held captive by the taliban for five years. they plan to show evidence that other service members were seriously wounded in their fitch for bergdahl. and they are warning that african-americans may face discrimination by american airlines. saying they have a corporate culture of racial bias. citing incidents of the airline staff and black customers and the airline says they aare committed to giving a positive experience for everyone. and now to a consumer alert. fisher-price is recalling infant motion seats because they may be a fire hazard. the company has received more than 30 reports of the product overheating and it stores

well, the cost of sending the child to college is going up fatter and the rate of inflation in fact. the annual report found that the annual average tuition rose $300 at four year public schools for instate students and the increase was bigger, about $800 for private colleges. and the company is grooming the students to eventually work there. best buy has currently 11 tech centers where they can teach the students skills, various skills in customer service. the number of training centers increase to 60 over the next three years. turning to health check this noon, a new study finds that tanning salon laws protecting

meteorologist, david murphy, is back now with a closer look at a cooler accuweather forecast. we are talking sweaters. >> especially tomorrow morning and into tonight. stormtracker 6 live double scan right now we have dry conditions and take a look outside we have sunshine on spring mountain. it's been so warm it's hard to emergency snow on this slope. but we'll get there over the

next couple of months and sometime next month we'll bring out the accuweather winter forecast and talk in detail when exactly we think that may happen. no snow for now. nice. yesterday was warm and it was the seventh straight day in philadelphia we got over 70. and temperatures over that period were a little more than 9 degrees above average and 75 was the high and strong wind gusts with trees and wires down in the morning. you can take this and throw is in the trash can. we are cooler and 62 degrees. winds only 6 miles per hour right now. as we look at temperatures across the region. in fact we'll stay in the 60s this afternoon. 61 in allentown and upper 50s in reading and lancaster, 62 in wilmington and philadelphia. and 64 in millville and 61 in cape may. satellite shows you how after a sunny start we are transitioning to a sun and clouds mix and i expect that to be the story up

aloof the rest of the day. it looks like showers scooting close to the coast but probably staying off the coast today. maybe a sprinkle or shower tomorrow. in the lehigh valley clouds mixing with sun cooler and high of 65 and the high temperatures are in general a couple of degrees above average. at the shore in atlantic city, 67 and downtown point in cape may 64 and 67 in the water, and philadelphia a high of 67 this afternoon and clouds mixing with sun and seasonably sool school and the winds 6 to 7 miles per hour. and partly cloudy skies overnightp cooling down as the cooler air sinks into the region from the northwest. and the overnight low in philadelphia is 47 that means when the sun is coming up tomorrow morn that is what to expect as you head out the door early. and outlying suburbs as low as 40 degrees, a chillier start
