beach haven 62. philadelphia 67. reading and allentown both checking in at 53. numbers are 5-10 degrees warmer than they were yesterday. it's all thanks to a breeze that developed last night ahead of a band of moisture that swung through last night. you'll see a lot of greens and yellows and reds out to the west. that should be passing to the north. i've drawn an air ra the direction of movement with the next batch of rain. most of the immediate philadelphia area should stay dry. so the call from accuweather for today is cloudy with some leftover morning drizzle and very, very mild with a high of 66 degrees. if that's not warm enough for you, we're all the way up into the 70s tomorrow. how warm it will get around here and another big cooldown as we head into next weekend. guys? >> developing this morning, a gunman opened fire on a crowd of

young people in north philadelphia leaving a teenager dead and a 12-year-old hospitalized. >> police are looking for the begunman who took -- gunman who took off after firing those shots. when police arrived they found a 16-year-old boy shot in the chest and neck. he died at the scene. a 12-year-old boy was shot in the thigh. other kids who were gathered managed to get out of the line of fire. >> the two victims were with a bunch of other children basically just hanging out, sitting on the steps, talking. and one male shooter, about 5'6", wearing all dark clothing, came upon them and basically started firing into the crowd. >> the 12-year-old victim is recovering in the hospital. police are now looking for that gunman. if you have any information that could help in the investigation, you are encouraged to contact police. >> also developing overnight another shooting in north

philadelphia left ear teenager seriously hurt. the action cam is on the scene at 1700 block of north 17th street. police were called just before 12:30 this morning when shots were fired just blocks from the temple university campus. police found an 18-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the back. the gun fire woke up a student who lives on the street. >> i was home. i was just laying in bed. they were there. and we heard like three loud pops. >> police do not have any motives or suspects in that shooting. >> a camden county police officer is recovering at home after being released from the hospital following his shooting. patrick o'hanlon gave a big thumbs up and was dressed in a sixers jeersy as he left the hospital. he was given an escort home where he was expected to continue recovering. he was shot in the leg during a

struggle with a suspect. that suspect has been arrested. >> and a philadelphia firefighter who died in the line of duty five years ago was honored this weekend with a new. family and friends were at engine 7 to help paint that mural and the firefighters honor the mural depicts his life and his career with the philadelphia fire department. >> extra security measures are in place as the largest marathon in the world prepares to make its way through the streets of manhattan. >> 50,000 runners are taking place in this morning's 47th annual new york city marathon. it comes less than a week after a deadly attack on the city. >> live from new york city with more on the extra precautions being taken to keep everyone safe. good morning, maggie. >> reporter: good morning, matt and jeannette. almost immediately after the

remotely close to what we saw last weekend for the eagles game. mostly cloudy skies, patchy drizzle. by second, third, fourth quarter it should be just clouds and it's very mild. 64 by 1:00, and 65 degrees by 4:00. as we take a look at storm tracker 6, not too much going on, just some patchy drizzle, steadier stuff off to the northwest. there's another round of rain quickly approaching pulling out of the pittsburgh area note the direction which this is chaflg here is off to the north to northeast. places like the lehigh valley may get clipped but the philadelphia area should stay dry. it's 57 degrees already in philadelphia with awe dew point of 54. so we're already pretty close to where we topped out at all day yesterday and it's only 9:00 in the morning. winds are out of the east northeast at 7 miles per hour and the pressure reading is holding steady at 30.24 inches.

crashing on the beach in cape may, new jersey. 57 degrees not very beachy. that rain you saw overnight it's all done. good for parades today, also that eagles game. in health check this morning, a large new study took a look at whether parents were keeping their children away from football out of concern for injuries like concussions. the sports and fitness industry association surveyed more than 20,000 individuals in households. it found that 982,000 children between the ages of 6 and 12 took part in tackle football last year. that was a drop of nearly 2% since 2011. but there were bigger drops in participation in basketball, baseball and outdoor soccer. track and field took the biggest hit with a decrease of more than 24%. >> health check this morning, babies who are breast fed for at least two months may have a lower risk of sudden infant death syndrome.

the study found that mothers didn't have to breast feed exclusively for their babies to benefit but researchers say there were still benefits even when parents used formula some of the time. a new study in the journal pediatrics finds most states in the country have added rules for day cares that are designed to help combat childhood so beesty. too many feedings, or leaning a bottle on a pillow, all practices that encourage babies to eat too much instead of when they're hungry. researchers have found more states require a feeding plan from infants from their parents or a physician. the state of delaware was the only one with regulations that met nine of the ten standards. >> the same technology used to tell your smart phone whether it is upside down or right side up can turn 2-d ultrasounds into a 3-d machine. they attached a $10 chip to a

be pushing through over the next couple of hours. we're also watching a couple of frontal systems. we have the cold front out to the west pushing across the plains states and there's kind of like this snaky looking warm front. temperatures are much, much cooler through here, but very, very warm south and west of that front. so what will happen here is the fronts are going to swing east. we get into the warm sector for tomorrow. temperatures shoot up into the 70s and some of this cooler weather starts to come in here as we head into tuesday. as a matter of fact we have a couple of frontal systems we're timing out. so we're cooling it down from tuesday on, the first front comes in and we get into friday and saturday this upcoming weekend and it could turn downright cold with highs in the 40s. jeannette? >> thank you so much. a california company has gone green with its coffee pods. they roast hundreds of millions of pounds of coffee beans each year with an estimated 11

tracker 6. we set into motion i drew a line, i think this batch of rain just stays north of that line. the northern portions of the lehigh valley, poconos you could see wet weather in the short term. if you know anybody that's traveling out to the west, big thunderstorms . i'll have more coming up in just a few minutes. >> developing news this morning, a teenager is dead, a 12-year-old hurt after someone opened fire on a group gathered in north philadelphia overnight. police were called to the 2700 block of north 19th street just after midnight. they say a crowd of teens were gathered when someone walked off and began to fire upon them. a 16-year-old boy was killed. a 12-year-old suffered gunshot wound to his leg. police are now searching for the gunman in that shooting.

>> police in montgomery county have made an arrest in a brutal murder that shocked a quiet community. >> police say they arrested the brother of a man found dead inside the basement of his home. trish hartman has the details. >> reporter: we now know the victim in this case is 64-year-old harry bachman police say he was killed by his own brother who is now in custody. police say they were called around 12:15 saturday afternoon to this home on the 400 block of north stirling road in elkins park. the call was for a welfare check after the victim didn't show up to meet a relative the night before. when police arrived they say they found harry bachman dead in the basement. they also found signs of a violent struggle and blunt force trauma to the victim's head and body. police say the suspect, bachman's brother, stole his car from the driveway. detectives found that vehicle at the fairfield inn hotel and took

the suspect into custody. county and township detectives spent all afternoon at the residence and placed more than 20 evidence markers outside the home. neighbors were shocked that this happened on their quiet street. >> any time we hear anything violent it certainly shakes you up. it's concerning. but on this street nothing usually ever happens. >> reporter: police have not released a motive for the killing. authorities say jameson bachman will be charged with first and third degree murder. >> a kentucky man has been taken into custody charged with attacking u.s. senator rand paul. kentucky state police say paul suffered a minor injury when he was assaulted in his home on friday afternoon. police say boucher blindsided the senator and tackled him from

believe bigger corporate profits will have a trickle-down effect creating more jobs and higher wages. some economists say that may not be a sure thing. >> controversial aspect will a reduction in corporate tax rates actually increase wages for the average household. >> the latest abc washington post survey shows that 50% of americans disapprove of the tax proposal. 60% believe it will primarily benefit the wealthy. >> some of the most prominent colleges and universities are attacking a republican congressional proposal to tax their endowments. many schools have huge endoumths that are used to fund student aid, research and community projects. the university of pennsylvania has $12.2 billion in the bank. harvard's endowment is $37.1 billion. the tax proposal released last week calls for a 1.4% tax

we continue to see these huge areas of high pressure sit over the carolinas. now here's a look from our temple university camera. lots of clouds, low level clouds in place. there's not too much in the way of fog, but enough cloud cover to which we won't see much in the way of sun out there today. storm tracker setting in motion for you. i drew this white line here from harrisburg. i think this next line of moisture will stay from that line north. maybe a couple of spritz or sprinkles in the next couple of hours but the bulk of the moisture stays to the north. 66 degrees is the forecasted high. yesterday we topped out at 59. started out this morning at 53 which is a good 11 degrees above the seasonal average. center city 57. newtown 55.

over into south jersey, 60. cape may 63. dover is at 61. hammonton 59. and . the first is this warm front this will push through tonight and as you get into the ohio and tennessee valleys, they're already in the 60s and 70s. that pulls in for tomorrow and the cold front comes in, that touches off a couple of showers, maybe a brief period of steady rain and the temperatures begin to fall back. but nothing too terribly cold. we're still talking about highs in the 50s which is average for this time of the year. so lots of moisture across the great lakes states. again all of this will be shifting to the east. future tracker 6, we set it in motion for you, here we go, a big line of showers and thunderstorms, sharrie williams over the ohio valley later tonight, right around the midnight hour and again this

block of north 19th street just after midnight. when they arrived they found a 16-year-old boy shot in the chest and neck. he died at the scene. a 12-year-old boy was shot in the thigh. other kids who were gathered managed to get out of the line of fire. police officials explain what they believe may have hopped. >> two victims were with a bunch of other people just hanging out talking and one male shooter, about 5'6" wearing all dark clothing came upon them and basically started firing into the crowd. >> the 12-year-old victim is recovering in the hospital. police are now looking for that gunman. if you have any information that could help in the ongoing investigation, you are encouraged to contact police. >> also developing overnight, another shooting in north philadelphia left ear -- another teenager seriously hurt. police were called just 12:30

this morning when shots were fired. officers found an 18-year-old man with a gun shot wound to the back. he was rushed to the hospital in serious condition. the gunfire woke up a temple student who lives on the street. >> i was home just laying in the bed and we just heard like three loud pops. >> police do not have any motives or suspects in that shooting. >> a camden county police officer is recovering at home after being released from the hospital following his shooting. officer patrick o'hanlon gave a big thumbs up as you can see there. he was dressed in his sixers jersey as he left cooper university hospital yesterday. he was given an escort home by his fellow officers last wednesday. o'hanlon you may remember was shot in the leg during a struggle with a suspect. that suspect has been arrested. >> a huge marathon is carrying

to south jersey and delaware. we're in what's called the warm sector between the frontal systems, winds shifting through the south. lots of clouds expected once again, extremely warm with winds coming out of the southwest. we get up to about 72 or 73 for the high. south and east it may be more like 74 or 75. more clouds, warm and rain develops late in the day with this front. probably around 4:00 or 5:00 in the afternoon. from west to east and moving into the city by about so. as the frontal system approaches and even though this model is not showing too much in the way of moisture, i think there's going to be a little bit more than what we're being shown here, showers and thunderstorms pass on through and we get into tuesday and things begin to
