accuweather. good morning chris. >> good morning nydia. it's already a lot better out here right now than it was yesterday at this time when we had those harsh wind chills wind chills were stuck in the teens. this morning we don't have wind chills. feels a little bit better. temperatures are still very cold for this time of year. it's 22 in the poconos, 28 allentown, 28 in reading, just about everybody below freezing again, the exception being the city of philadelphia where you're sitting at 33. wilmington 30, millville 31 and atlantic city at the airport 28. there's the good news right there. wind speeds generally are calm throughout the area. here's satellite6 along with action radar. the idea for today we'll start out with a lot of clouds. by afternoon we'll start to see those clouds fizzle out and pull away out to sea and that will give way to some sunshine. all the moisture you see towards the left hand part of your screen which actually is falling in the form of snow across lower portions of michigan that will lift north and pull up into southern canada. so, for today accuweather says clouds giving way to some sunshine by afternoon and it

turns milder with a high of 48 degrees. keep in mind it's going to feel a lot better than yesterday and much better than the day before that. it's still a good 10 degrees below the seasonal average of 58 degrees and i want to draw your attention to this. first thing tomorrow morning, there's not going to be any problems for the city of philadelphia in the immediate surroundings suburbs. you get into the lehigh valley and the poconos, we're watching a system approaching from the west and the timing on this is going to be crucial because if this moisture gets in here quick enough, temperatures will be close to freezing in places like bethlehem and allentown and the poconos. so, the moisture could actually start out as a little freezing drizzle or sleet up there far northern areas of our viewing area here. so when i come back in a few minutes we'll focus a little bit more on that and then we'll talk some milder temperatures in the accuweather 7-day forecast. guys. >> chris, thank you. new this morning, an early morning gun battle in the hunting park section of philadelphia has left one man dead and two others wounded including the suspect. the action cam wall at the scene, the a lounge and social

club on mcallister street. investigators say about 4 o'clock this morning outside the club a 27-year-old man shot a 39-year-old man in the face and chest. a club security guard saw the shooting and opened fire on the suspect wounding him in the leg. a 24-year-old man was also shot in the leg during the shootout. the 39-year-old died at the hospital. the suspect is in the hospital and faces murder charges. the 24-year-old is expected to recover. police have not said what sparked the shooting. >> new this morning, the action cam was along the amtrak railroad tracks in chester delaware county early this morning. this is where a pickup truck went out of control. police say the pickup flipped over on the 500 block of lloyd street and landed on the track after tumbling down a 15-foot embankment. amtrak stopped trains running along the northeast corridor until a tow truck could remove the pickup truck. that stretch is now reopened. the driver is being treated at crozer-chester hospital for minor injuries he suffered. so far no charges have been filed. >> and overnight police

reopened a section of route 202 in chester county that had been closed for almost 14 hours because of a deadly crash. the fiery wreck happened where 202 meets south matlack street in west goshen township. both directions had to be shut down until just after 2 o'clock this morning. annie mccormick talked to drivers who came upon tragic scenism crews worked through the night picking up this accident scene piece by piece. one person was killed and at least two people were taken to the hospital. it was a fiery crash on busy route 202 just after 12:30 saturday afternoon. a tractor-trailer carrying frozen turkey collided with at least one vehicle. in total, police say, at least nine vehicles including the tractor-trailer were involved in the crash. >> there was just cars everywhere. it was just a lot. it was just cars everywhere. it seemed like someone just sprinkled cars. >> this is terrible. i mean, i've never seen one this bad. >> reporter: the mccalls live a half mile away. bystanders stuck in traffic

recorded the images of the tractor-trailer on fire. the coroner arrived on scene. authorities confirmed one person was killed. west goshen police confirm several people suffered minor to moderate injuries. late into the night crews remained at the scene together vehicles and cleaning up the hall of turkeys inside the tractor-trailer before it could be moved while authorities worked both lanes north and southbound remain closed at the intersection of south matlack and 202. mary beth mccall says this is a dangerous intersection. >> i just feel so bad for the people and the families who, you know, are going to get the repercussions of all this. this is just horrible. >> reporter: at this point police say the cause still remains under investigation. reporting in west goshen township, annie mccormick channel6 "action news." >> overnight president donald trump left vietnam for the philippines. a visit to manila is a crucial stop in his push to court support against north korea

and its nuclear program. the philippines has been a major trade partner with the u.s. and has since scaled back its trade with north korea. the president of the philippines urged other world leaders to reach out to north korea's dictator kim jong un. president trump at a news conference in hanoi today with vietnamese president tran dai quang. >> we will also address the growing threat from north korea. as i said in my speech to the republic of korea's national assembly all responsible nations must act now to ensure that north korea's rogue regime stops threatening the world with unthinkable loss of life. >> the president praised vietnam saying the country is a strong friend of the united states. >> seven:06 on this sunday morning. in sutherland springs texas today the faithful will flock to the church where -- church

where a gunman opened fire a week ago during service. they will pay respects at a memorial set up 26 people who died in the massacre. linda lopez has more. >> reporter: they're setting up tents for church service. near where they used to gather on sunday morning. the survivors of the tragedy inside the first baptist church of sutherland springs will pray together again one week after devin kelley walked into their house of worship killing 26 people and wounding 20 others. the the gunman's fires wife now opening up about what she says was a marriage filled with abuse and threats saying in a promotional clip for an interview on inside edition. >> he just had a lot of demons and hatred inside of him. saturday richard and terese rodriguez were buried husband and wife in the small town cemetery at the same. atat the same time neighbors and

visitors trickle into town to pay their respects. in the town of adkins neighbors spent two days kicking over 5,000 pounds of food all to raise money to assist the victims. >> i mean, like i said, the money is never going to replace the actual victims but it will help in the recovery process. >> reporter: volunteers of the first baptist food pantry showed up this weekend like they always do to help the needy. lou, the woman who organized the effort was lost in the attack. >> lou is no longer with us except in spirit. >> reporter: for lou they served up bread and love and even a little laughter. [laughter] >> reporter: church leaders said volunteers allowed them to transform the site of the shooting into a beautiful memorial that celebrates and pays tribute to the lives there were lost. linda lopez, abc news, new york. >> happening today, folks will gather in fairmount park to help in the battle against childhood cancers. lemon run philadelphia starts at memorial hall at 8:30.

a kid's dash gets under way at 8 o'clock. people will make their way along the 3-mile course in the park. proceeds benefit alex's lemonade stand and its mission to eliminate pediatric cancer. they have raised hundreds of mills of dollars. >> all inspired by alex. two more hollywood actors denying sexual misconduct allegations. that's ahead on "action news." also ahead, a stairway collapses sending more than 20 kids and a few adults to the hospital. >> and water works. a california street looks more like old faithful. chris. >> good thing we're not seeing anything like that around here, alicia, or it would be ice as temperatures once again are well below freezing. look at the last couple days, you would think it's the beginning of january not january, not november. warmer weather is on the way and i'll let you know when it arrives in the accuweather 7-day forecast right after this. >> ♪

>> time for accuweather. so proud of our family. we bundled up and we walked all around the city yesterday. it was beautiful. >> nice. you got a nice cup of hot chocolate, you can do something like that. >> you know what we did? we stayed home. we snuggled and watched movies. >> i actually had plans and i started watching college game day and by 1 o'clock i found myself on the couch the whole day. >> i'm sure a lot of people shared that day with you. >> let's go live on sky6 and look at this. here's a beautiful shot. we're looking at penn's landing, one of the ice rinks and once again, temperatures are cold. we've been feeling more like late december, early january with the temperatures that we've seen over the past couple of days but things are about to start improving here in the short term. that cold air is about to pull out and move north back into canada where it belongs for this time of the year and temperatures will respond nicely later this week. another cold morning, though. temperatures in the 20's. most locations are below freezing once again. monday morning, there could be some patchy drizzle around, especially in and around the

immediate philadelphia area but north and west you get into the poconos, the northern portions of the lehigh valley, there could be a little bit of a wintry mix with a mixture of snow and sleet and then again turning milder as we head into most of the upcoming work week. so, 48 degrees is today's forecasted high temperature. that's a good 10 degrees below the seasonal average of 58. but still very chilly for this time of the year. 33 degrees is where we started out this morning. 40 is the normal low temperature. 28 degrees in allentown. neal do me a favor and flip that prompter. millville 31, trenton 26 degrees and normal lows should be in the low to mid 40's so temperatures are very, very cold considering the time of year. but again, we're a good five to 10 degrees warmer than where we were this same time yesterday. trenton 4 degrees warmer, wilmington 10 and millville eight. here's satellite6 along with action radar, lots of clouds, shrouded throughout the area

here. some moisture approaching from the west but it will lift to the north up into southern canada so we shouldn't see too much activity even tomorrow morning, there could be a little bit of patchy drizzle but really that's about it and here it is as we flip it over to green on storm tracker detroit picking up a little light snow this morning, very, very light intermittent type stuff out there to the west passing by moving into upstate new york, toronto, syracuse those locations will see moisture today. for this afternoon future tracker showing morning clouds giving way to some afternoon sunshine. it should be another very nice looking day and with the added sun we'll see temperatures back up into the upper 40's for daytime highs. tomorrow morning, things change a little bit. so this model doesn't show much in the immediate philadelphia area but there will be scattered drizzle around. in the lehigh valley and the poconos there's white starting to show up. some of the latest forecast guidance show a little bit of light freezing rain or sleet at the onset and that will quickly go over to plain rain as temperatures warm back up above the freezing mark of 32. by afternoon we'll see some

sunshine. that system is moving along very, very quickly so temperatures are going to be just borderline at best. remember, the freezing mark is 32 degrees. we're showing temperatures 32, 33 by 6:00 a.m. tomorrow morning in allentown and the poconos, so really the big question is, what happens first, does the moisture get in here first or do the temperatures cool down and then that will ultimately determine whether or not we see some freezing precipitation north and west. allentown 45 today. philadelphia wilmington 48. millville 49 and then 50's to the south. so you get the idea its a little bit better than yesterday and then overnight tonight it's chilly once again but these numbers are a lot better than where we are this morning. allentown 29, philadelphia 35, millville 32 and dover 35 degrees. and the exclusive accuweather seven forecast, nice and quiet this week and seasonable for the most part maybe patchy drizzle tomorrow morning. otherwise clouds breaking for sun 51. tuesday right through friday cloudy and sun mixed in here, temperatures in the 50's, maybe some rain for saturday. alicia. >> all right, chris, thank

>> the chance of a platform at an indoor physical fitness center in san diego, california, has injured 21 children and two adults. the training facility specializes in parkour training based on military obstacle courses. there were about 50 children on the platform at the time eating pizza when the structure collapsed. the injuries are said to be minor to moderate. that facility is closed until

further notice. >> star trek icon george takei denies he knew a struggling actor and model who accused him of sexual assault in 1981. takei said the events he describes back in the 1980's simply did not occur. and i do not know why he has claimed them. scott brunton told the hollywood reporter he was 23 at the time living in hollywood and working as a waiter when he met takei bar. they exchanged numbers and brunton says takei invited him back to his condo for drinks. brunton says he grew dizzy and must have passed out and woke up to takei fondling him. >> richard dreyfuss tells a magazine he considered jessica teich a friend from 30 years and encounters with her were playful and mutual. teich says she decided to

with the harsh wind chill but it's pretty cold out here right now. feels like it wants to snow. the sky has that snowy cloudy look to it. i can smell a fireplace. i just need a cup of hot chocolate and i'm set right now. let's flip it over to the temperatures. 22 degrees in the poconos. 28 in allentown, reading 28. 33 in philadelphia. millville 31 so just about the entire area is below freezing this morning. but again, a lot of numbers were in the upper teens, low 20's yesterday at the same time so we're doing a little bit better. cape may 31, atlantic city 28 degrees. and generally we're five to 10 degrees warmer than this same time yesterday so that's a sure sign that this arctic air is finally starting to lift north and pull away from the delaware and the lehigh valleys. satellite6 along with action radar lots of clouds throughout the area this morning. if you look towards the left hand part of your screen, you see some blues and some greens and whites. that's a wintry mix falling in southern michigan. that will lift north up into southern canada but the area of low pressure itself will actually swing through here

tomorrow morning and that could touch off just a little bit of patchy drizzle for the philadelphia area. so, for today, clouds giving way to some afternoon sunshine. it's milder but still very chilly for this time of the year. the normal high is 58. and we're forecasting a high today of 48 degrees. so, by 1 o'clock, 44. by 3 o'clock 47 and 5 o'clock 45 degrees. it turns milder today but well below seasonal averages. patchy drizzle coming up first thing tomorrow morning which could actually fall in the form of freezing drizzle or sleet pellets in the lehigh valley and the poconos. and then it will turn much milder later this week as the arctic high continues to pull away. i'll be back in just a few minutes. i'll have all those details and the accuweather 7-day forecast. nydia. >> chris, thank you. >> ♪ >> new this morning, the action cam was outside a bar on the 1600 block of townsend street in chester township delaware county where police are investigating a deadly shooting. investigators say a man was standing outside the boots and

bonnets bar. someone shot a man in the chest. the victim died at the hospital. police haven't made any arrests. a wounded man managed to crawl out of this car early this morning after it flipped over and burst into flames just two blocks from crozer-chester hospital. the man is now in surgery at that hospital. the victim was shot at about 2:40 this morning at fourth and highland streets. police say he then got into his car and tried to drive himself to the hospital. he drove for about a mile to 21st and upland streets were he apparently collapsed and the car went out of control. so far there are no arrests. >> happening today, a vigil will be held for a pennsylvania state trooper who was shot in the line of duty last week. that vigil will take place outside saint luke's know bethlehem northampton county where trooper seth kelly is receiving care. kelly underwent several successful surgeries at saint luke's. he was shot several times during a traffic stop in plainfield township on tuesday. the accused gunman, daniel clary, is charged with attempted murder.

>> 7:33 on this sunday morning. a local boy scout is helping to put the spotlight back on one of philadelphia's most famous unsolved mysteries. the body of a little boy found in a box in 1957. the youngster's remains have never been identified. "action news" reporter bob brooks has more on the scout's efforts. >> reporter: the ceremony started with a prayer. to remember and honor a little boy found six decades ago, dead in a box. left on the side of susquehanna road. still to this day no one knows who he is or exactly what happened. but now no one will ever be able to forget it thanks to this historic marker made possible by eagle scout nicholas kirschbaum of troop 522 in wilmington. >> four to six years old his life was taken and that's just -- that shouldn't happen like that. >> reporter: kirschbaum needed an eagle scout service project. he could have picked anything but became familiar with the case of what's now known as america's unknown child through his father, a former philadelphia cop. >> he tossed me the idea for this project and i considered

it and i actually -- i looked into it reading about the boy itself. >> reporter: it was back in 1957, two philadelphia police officers responded to a call of a body in a box. the case was never solved. kirschbaum hopes the marker will somehow bring new leads into the 60-year-old case. >> small, small bit of possibility. somebody could be walking by and maybe just seeing the sign they could possibly in the back of their mind, oh, i remember something. >> reporter: funds for the marker were made by the vidoc society a group of forensic experts that try to piece together cold cases. their founder is bill fleischer. he thinks this case could make major progress in the near future through dna. >> with comparing it against many suspected relatives. >> reporter: he vows his group will never stop working on trying to find out who could commit such a disturbing crime. >> in my view he wasn't beaten to death he was abused and neglected to the point where just his little flame went out. >> reporter: this case is

and 23 degrees yesterday at this time and now we're seeing upper 20's, low 30's. little better. 22 in the poconos. 33 in millville and philadelphia. 30 in wilmington, 31 in cape may and trenton 26 degrees. and even better news, we've lost the wind so we don't have to deal with wind chills this morning. still need to bundle up. you'll still need a heavier coat and some gloves but that wind is not going to be battering you like yesterday. general wind speeds are calm, three to 5 miles per hour. satellite6 along with action radar, lots of clouds throughout the midatlantic states this morning and then we're watching a system quickly approaching from the west and if you notice here, we're seeing some blues and some whites, even this pinkish shade. that's a mix of snow sleet and freezing rain. that's what they're dealing with in the lower portions of michigan, northern portions of the ohio valley. that system is passing by to the north so places like buffalo, syracuse southern canada you'll city a wintry mix later this afternoon. for us, these loud clouds will thin out and we'll go partly

to mostly sunny later this afternoon. milder over all with sunshine. by the time this low really gets cranking, it's well out to sea so we're not expecting too much in the way of anything at all tomorrow morning, perhaps a little bit of might drizzle, patchy stuff at best and then the lehigh valley could see a light wintry mix. i'll talk more about that here in a second. future tracker6 by 11:30 a.m. that cloud deck drifting a off to the south. the sun starts to peak through. overnight the clouds begin to increase again and then here comes some of the moisture. now, this model is not showing too much here but i think you'll see some patchy drizzle around the philadelphia area. and then by 9:00 a.m. some very light sleet pellets or some freezing rain in the lehigh valley and the poconos and the big question is going to be how quick doesn't moisture move in. by 4 o'clock in the morning the numbers are still below freezing in the western suburbs, lancaster 31 and the poconos 31. if the moisture gets in here quick enough it will start out as a wintry mix. if it holds off a little later
