to any specific commitments. he's looking back on it and calling it a success saying the reception he's received in every country shows respect for him and the united states. nothing like an awkward group handshake to kick off a summit. president trump and other world leaders standing side by side told to put one hand over the other an shake hands with the person next to them. it didn't go smoothly and president trump didn't seem to be enjoying himself. later he got down to business. president teasing a major announcement next week he'll make at the white house. >> it'll be a complete statement as to trade and north korea. >> reporter: then that critical sit-down with president duterte of the philippines. duterte has come under intense scrutiny saying he carried out thousands of extra judicial killings. in the past president trump has commended him for his war on drug. >> we've had a great relationship. this has been very successful.

>> reporter: the white house said the meeting focused on isis, trade and drugs and human rights briefly came up in the context of the philippines' fight against illegal drugs. president trump said at the start of this trip it would be grueling, but the pace and workload wouldn't be an issue for him. today he complimented the press for keeping up. >> very impressed. you stayed with us. >> reporter: one potential reason for the spring in his step on day 13, the warm welcomes at nearly every stop. grand arrival ceremonies. lavish state dinners. the president seemed to love every minute of it. >> red carpet like nobody i think probably nobody has ever received and a sign of respect perhaps for me a little bit but really for our country. >> reporter: president trump added an extra day to this already marathon tour. the president will attend another regional leaders summit on tuesday before heading back to washington. diane, kendis. >> all right, a busy, busy two weeks for the president. karen travers there. the other breaking story the death toll is now more than 320

people confirmed dead after that powerful earthquake. it struck between the border there of iraq and iran. hundreds of miles from the e epicenter american soldiers in baghdad reported feeling the rocking. abc's molly hunter tracking the details. molly, good morning. >> reporter: diane and kendis, good morning. authorities are still going door to door trying to get a sense of the rank of the breadth of the damage. this is no northern iraq in kurdistan. the quake struck in a remote area on the border of both. more than 150 miles from baghdad where our abc news producer felt strong shakes and look at the anguish in this man's face and this man's arms in the air. hospital beds moved outside and armed services are setting up field hospitals where they can in that border region. diane and kendis. >> molly, thank you. now to the explosive allegations rocking the republican candidate for senate in alabama. >> roy moore's campaign says

they believe the story about his alleged sexual contact with a 14-year-old was leaked by political opponents and now moore is planning to fight back. abc's lana zak has new details. good morning. >> reporter: good morning to you, koepka and diane. moore told his supporters late last night he intends to actually sue "the washington post" over that story and moore's long-type pastor of 5 years says he's hurt by the allegations. roy moore remains defiant this morning. even if president trump were to ask him to drop out of the race for alabama senate a senior adviser to the republican candidate says he would keep going. last week "the washington post" reported when moore was 32 he allegedly initiated sexual activity with a 14-year-old girl and pursued three others between the ages of 16 and 18. and now teresa jones who worked as a deputy d.a. is tweeting it was common knowledge about roy's propensity for teenage girls. moore's democratic challenger

doug jones said he had no prior knowledge of it and called on moore to explain himself. >> they are serious allegations that need to be addressed, not just in general denial and blaming somebody else. >> reporter: in alabama there are mixed opinions. >> i believe it's something that somebody waited for an opportune moment. >> reporter: republican leaders are not coming to his defense in general. >> from my point of view i have to say the accusations have more credibility than the denial. i think it would be best if he stepped aside. >> reporter: pat toomey joining john mccain and bob skoshger in calling for moore to withdraw immediately. 41 other republican senators saying he should step aside if the allegations are true. in a radio interview with sean hannity he was asked specifically about dating teenagers. >> do you remember dating girls that young at that time? >> not generally, no. if i did, you know, i'm not going to dispute anything but i don't remember anything like that. >> reporter: and the election is

darkness as one young man did that day i say we choose light and by choosing light -- amen. that is reverend frank pomeroy who lost his daughter in last week's church shooting near san antonio, texas. for the first time the public has now been allowed into that church which is now a memorial to the victims. the pews have been removed and 26 white chairs have been set up. one for each of those killed. plans are being discussed to keep the church as a memorial site. sunday services were held outdoors under a massive tent. the texas senator john cornyn among those attending promising to introduce legislation to fix what he calls the broken gun background check system. police at the mall of america say two people were stabbed during an attempted robbery at the macy's store. investigators say the suspect stabbed the victims after they caught him trying to steal personal belongings from the dressing room. other shoppers reportedly subdued the subject but children waiting nearby waiting to see

"the wall street journal" reports walmart has been raising prices for some food and household items on its website in hopes of driving foot traffic into its stores. other big box retailers are reportedly doing the same thing including costco. analysts say even walmart's higher online prices typically match samson's. jeff sessions and the justice department are being sued by 12-year-old girl with epilepsy who wants to legalize medical marijuana nationwide. the lawsuit by alexis could benefit millions of americans who cannot legally obtain pot to treat their illnesses. alexis says marijuana gives immediate relief from seizures. a guitar that bob dylan played in the 1970s sold for much more than expected.

celebrity. and this morning, we are noting her passing and remembering smith for the way she raised the bar redefining the notion of celebrity gossip. smith's column ran in new york newspapers for 33 years and was syndicated in dozens of others. in her conversation with abc news a few years ago she compared the celebs of today with those of a bygone era. >> old studios, they were like finishing schools and what they produced was a phalanx of stars that have only now just begun to die out. they were worth worshiping. when you said greta garbo, everybody knew who you meant and she didn't have to be explained in six lines. >> smith famously said gossip is just news wearing a red dress and running ahead of the pack. she was 94 years old. we are learning details about a smoking backpack that shut down the airport terminal in orlando. passengers started scrambling
