>> good morning it is 6:00 a.m., saturday, gray is off, i'm nydia han. here's some of the stories we're following for you. an elderly man is rushed to the hospital after a raging fire breaks out in his north philadelphia home overnight. what sparked in inferno at a chester county senior citizen facility. investigator hope to get a first look inside one day after the inferno sent residents into the cold night air. it's a cold start this morning before rain gets into the region. let's get a look at the forecast with meteorologist chris sowers, good morning, i didn't -- chriss chilly out there. >> reporter: i have the gloves on, the temperatures are dropped into the 20s and 0s. we don't have a gusty breeze so we're not seeing windchills. 26 in coatsville, 28 in pottstown. 32 in kutztown. malvern, 30. center city, 34.

glassboro, 31. vineland, 26. browns mill 28 degrees. clouds increasing from the west. if you toward the left-hand side of the screen we're seeing moisture push in across western portions of pennsylvania, bradford, pittsburgh, moderate rain. there's a low pressure system that will pass on by to the north. we'll expect showers out of that, or life brief rain this afternoon. all the reds and oranges you see there should lift to the north through the poconos and upstate new york. forecast for today, the call from accuweather, increasing clouds, perhaps a little bit of sun thiferg -- first thing this morning, otherwise it's a cloudy day and winds out of the 15 miles per hour out of the southwest. 54 degrees is the around high. watch out for showers right after lunch. when i come back we'll talk about the timing of the showers when they pull out of here and we'll focus on the gusty winds

tomorrow and of course i'll have the turk forecast in the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast straight ahead in ten minutes. nydia? >> chris, thank you. breaking news this morning, the action cam was on the scene as firefighters doused the flames on the burning home on the 800 block of erie avenue. the fire broke out 4:00 a.m. when firefighters arrived they found flames shooting from the upper floor. a 70-year-old man was rescued. he was treated for burns to his hands and face. no word on what sparked the blaze. fire officials are on the scene of the devastating fire in west chester. they are hoping to be able to get a look inside the facility today as officials continue to account for everyone who was inside the senior citizens' open when the flames erupted. jeff chirico explains the blaze brought out the community to

help. >> reporter: crews doused hot spots at the barclary friends senior living community. in daylight you can see the devastation from chopper 6 hd. 160 people were inside when flames broke out at 10:45 thursday night. in there were waves of flames. >> reporter: authorities say 27 people were injured, it's unclear if everyone was rescued or if anyone is missing or dead. >> it was chaotic, there were folks evacuated to west chester university and some went home with families. >> reporter: firefighters staff and neighbors ran into the burning building to rescue seniors. wrapped in blankets they lined up in 43 degrees temperatures. 101-year-old mary among them. >> she said it's a fire, it's a fire, she grabbed the oxygen off me, i was shocked, i couldn't believe it. we put me in the wheelchair we

got out thereof, everyone was following us and she kept saying come on. >> reporter: most of the residents were relocated to the senior living centers in the area. as for the investigation federal authorities arrived on the scene, but the building is too hot to enter. neighbors who came to see the destruction are impressed so many lives are saved. >> probably a combination of good training and emergency preparedness in the borough and around the borough and the county. people practice for kind of thing. it went as well as could be expected. 17 of the 27 injured seniors remain in the hospital. the atf has called the national response team to west chester that includes 25 specialists they will meet sometime this morning to be briefed on the situation. the hope is they will get inside the buildings to determine a cause. jeff chirico channel 6 "action news." >> "action news" has learned that barclary friends senior living community has been cited

in the past for fire safety violations. over the past 11 years, the facility has been inspected 39 times. an inspection in february found the facility failed to protect openings with seal antithat-- sealant that can control the spread of flames. violations were fixed according to inspection reports. our coverage of the situation continues at 6abc.com, see more video from the crews on the grounds and chopper 6 hd. we'll post the latest developments as soon as we get them. new this morning, a manhunt continues for the suspect who fatally shot a western pennsylvania police officer. it happened last night in new kensington west moreland county near pittsburgh. the officer was identified as brian shaw. he had been with the township department less than a year. police say officer shaw pulled the suspect over during a traffic stop. at some point he chased him and shots were fired the officer was

hit and killed. police have released few details including the description of the suspect. a neighborhood in baltimore, maryland is on lockdown as police search for the gunman who was one of their own. sean suiter was shot and killed while van -- canvassing the neighborhood wednesday night. they believe the suspect may be injured. >> we're asking for anyone with friends, family, acquaintances who know of someone with a new unexplained injury and they are seeking treatment unconventionally for the injury or not seeking treatment at all. >> the reward for information leading to an arrest in this case is now up to 190 thousand dollars. philadelphia police are looking for a dozen suspects after vandals struck a police substation.

they threw paint and smoke grenades and smashed woods on the 900 block of south street. one left a hammer sticking out of the windshield. they left antipolice and anarchist flyers that explains their motives. philadelphia police and fbi need your help in identifying this armed bank robber saying he held up the td bank at ridge avenue at 10:00 a.m. he was wearing a safety vest that said c-80 on the back. happening this morning, area boy scouts will be going door to door to collect foods for those in need. they went through neighborhoods last week dropping off plastic bags, if you received a bag, fill it up with cans and non-perishable food and leave it outside your door. them be collecting food donations during the 6abc dunkin' donuts thanksgiving day parade. a reminder the thanks day parade

40 degrees, increasing clouds, sunday's full marathon starting at 7:00 a.m. 47 degrees, the big story then becomes the gusty winds up to 40, 45 miles per hour. i will be back along in just a few minutes with the details on that with the accuweather forecast. nydia. >> thank you. new this morning, a house fire destroyed a home in camden county. it broke out on the 400 block of kingston drive in cherry hill after midnight. authorities say the home is under renovation, there are no reports of any injuries. federal investigator may get their first chance today to see inside the charred barclary friends senior living community in chester county. overnight firefights continued to hose the smoldering hot spots 24 hours later. federal authorities have not been able to begin their investigation because the building is too hot to enter. once they do they have the task of determining what started the

blaze. 160 people were inside the home in west chester when the flames erupted thursday night. 27 people were injured. it's unclear if everyone was rescued or anyone is missing or dead. resident mary was a resident at the time. >> it's a fire, it's a fire, she grabbed the oxygen off me. i was shocked, i couldn't believe it. she put me in the wheelchair and we got out of there. everybody was following us, she kept saying come on, come on. >> we are so glad so many are okay. many of them were rescued and relocated to senior living facilities in the area. as the five-alarm blaze burned, the road outside the facility became crowded with wheelchairs and beds. blanket-wrapped patients were

put on ambulances. >> you think you had a good life, you don't want it to happen like that to go out. but we have no control of things. >> reporter: mary who turned 101 years old last sunday left it in the lord's hand when the inferno rolled through the barclary friends senior living community. she can not walk on her own. her life was saved by one of the nurses here. she paid tribute to the firefighters and ems and red cross and the franklin street neighbors who poured out of their homes who bring them items they needed to survive until they could be taken to hospitals or shelters. >> it was cold, they had blankets and everything you could think of to keep the people warm giving them hats and gloves, giving them plenty of coverage to keep warm, but it was cold. >> tons of people have come out to help. >> tons, all the neighbors are really coming out to do what

woodbury. 19-year-old brandon wilson is charged in the september beating death of 26-year-old shawnic carter. he killed the young mother who was housesitting for the other . wilson lived there as a foster child in 2015. he was released from jail the day before the murder. philadelphia police are looking for a man who tried to lure teenage boys in his car for sex. police say he lured two young boys and sexually assaulted them. dann cuellar has the details. >> it's sick, you know what i am, it's metally sick. he's got a problem. >> reporter: people reacting in east mount airy where police say the predator tried to lure a 16-year-old boy into his car at the bus stop 600 block of stenton. >> he asked them if he wanted

to make money by performing a sex act on the defender or performing one on him. >> reporter: five blocks away at stenton and haynes in germantown he did it again, approaching another 16-year-old male waiting for a bus, he showed them pornographic videos on the cell phone and the young men ignored him and got away. >> i'm shocked. it's stupid obviously. >> reporter: police believe it's the same man, a light complected black male in his 20s and mustache and beard who lured two brothers an 11 and 14-year-old into his car. this happened at a gas station ridge avenue and strawberry mansion. he lured them into his car and showed them porn graphic videos and sexually assaulted them before they escaped. >> it's getting much more aggressive. >> reporter: police are warning
