good morning it is 7:00 a.m., saturday, gray's off, i'm nydia han. here's the stories we're following on "action news." an elderly man is rushed to the hospital after a raging fire breaks out in his north philadelphia home overnight. what sparked this inferno at a chester county senior facility. investigators hope to get a look inside one day after the fire sent residents into the cold night air. it's a chilly start before the rain moves into the region, we're looking at a beautiful sunrise right now. let's look at the weather with meteorologist chris sowers. >> reporter: good morning, nydia, it's blustery out here, the breezes are picking up, still light, but adding to the chill with the region in the 20s and 30s. did you catch the sunrise first thing this morning. it came up at 6:49 a.m. you can see the beautiful color what's happening the light from the sun is reflecting off the ice crystals in the clouds it's

producing a gorgeous show. if you live east of the delaware river in south jersey and delaware you may be able to see a little bit of color, now that the sun is climbing a little bit we're losing the color. gorgeous start to the morning. clouds increasing from the west. you see rain and mixed precipitation out across north-central pennsylvania. williamsport presently reporting a little bit of light sleet and freezing rain. state college is reporting a mix bag. you go farther to the south around johns town and altoona they are seeing wintry precipitation, as well. by the time it makes its way east into the philadelphia area. temperatures in the 40s be we're not expecting mixed precipitation here, we could see showers later on. 29 in allentown, 38 in philadelphia. 30 in millville. 37 in wilmington. forecast for today, if you're going to see the sun it will be in the next hour or two, it's pretty much it. we'll go mainly cloudy from

11:00 a.m., showers this afternoon, high temperatures around 54 degrees. which is seasonable. that's the normal high. tomorrow it will be blustery and sharply colder as the cold front slides in. when i can back in just a few minutes i'll talk about that and the strong gusty winds we'll see tomorrow morning expecting gusts up to 45 miles per hour coming up in the seven day. >> thank you. we continue to follow the breaking news out of north philadelphia. the action cam was on the 800 block of erie avenue in north philadelphia. the homes on both sides of the row home have extensive water and smoke damage. the fire chief said the families inside did get out same, but have to look for a temporary place to say. the red cross is at the scene to help the residence. firefighters rescued a 70-year-old man inside the burning home. he was rushed to temple university hospital to be treated for burns to his hands and face. fire officials are on the

scene of the devastating fire in west chester. they are hoping to get a closer look inside the senior citizen home today as officials continue to account for every who was in the buildings as the flames erupted. "action news" reporter, jeff chirico explains, the huge blaze wrought out the community to help. >> reporter: nearly 24 hours after the fire began crews continue to douse hot spots at the barclary friends senior living community. in daylight you can see the devastation from chopper 6. 160 people were inside when flames broke out at 10:45 p.m. thursday night. >> there were waves of flames. >> reporter: officials reported 27 people were injured, it's unclear if everyone was rescued or if anyone is missing or dead. >> a little chaotic during the evacuation. there were some folks evacuated to west chester university. some folks went home with family. we're trying to account for everyone. >> reporter: firefighters staff and even neighbors ran into the

burning building to rescue seniors. wrapped in blankets they lined up in 40-degree temperatures. 01-year-old mary among them. >> she said it's a fire, they grabbed the oxygen, i was shocked, i couldn't believe it, she put me in the wheelchair and we got out of there. and everybody was following us, she kept saying come on. >> reporter: most of the residents have been relocated to senior living centers in the area. as for the investigation, federal authorities arrived on the scene, but the building is still too hot to enter. neighbors who came to see the destruction are impressed so many lives were saved. >> probably a combination of good training and emergency preparedness in the borough and around the borough with the county. people practice for kind of thing. it went as well as could be expected. >> reporter: as of yesterday afternoon, 17 of the 27 injured

seniors remain in the hospital. atf has called their national response team to west chester. that consists of 25 specialists they will meet sometime this morning to be brief on the situation. the hope is they can get inside the building to determine a cause. in west chester, jeff chirico channel 6 "action news." >> "action news" has learned that barclary friends senior living community has been cited in the past for fire safety violations. over the past 11 years, the facility has been inspected 39 times. an inspection in february found the facility failed to protect onions with sealants that control the spread of flames. they are cited for broken sprinklers and emergency exits in hallways that were blocked. those violations were fixed according to inspection reports. our coverage continues at 6abc.com. see video from our crews on the ground and chopper 6 hd. we'll post the latest developments as soon as we get them. >> new this morning, a manhunt continues for the suspect who fatally shot a western pennsylvania police officer.

it happened last night in new kensington west moreland county near pittsburgh. the officer has been identified as brian shaw. he had been with the township department less than a year. police say the officer pulled the suspect over during a traffic stop. at some point he ran after the suspect, shots were fired, the officer was hit and killed. police have released few details including a description of the suspect. a neighborhood in baltimore, maryland is on lockdown as police search for a gunman who killed one of their own. investigators say detective sean suiter an 18-year-old veteran of the force was shot and killed while canvassing the neighborhood while on a homicide case wednesday night. they believe the suspect may be injured. >> we're asking for anyone with friends, family, acquaintances who know of someone with a new unexplained injury either

seeking treatment unconventionally for the injury or not seeking treatment at all. >> the reward for information leading to an arrest in the case is now up 1 to $190,000. 7:07 a.m. area boy scouts will be going door to door collecting food for those in need. they went through neighborhoods last week dropping off plastic bags, fill it with cans or no reason -- nonperishable food and leave it outside your door. it will be collected for the 6abc thanksgiving day parade. this reminder that the thanksgiving day parade is this thursday. rick williams and as cesily tynn once again will lead you through the floats, bands and performances. our live coverage from eakens oval begins at 8:30 thursday morning. road closures and parking

apartment complex in new york's harlem neighborhood. thick smoke was seen from the ground as flames shot above. it took more than 200 firefighters to knock the fire out. 22 families have been displaced and helped out by the red cross. seven firefighters and a police officer and one resident suffered minor injuries. there are fierce that complex may collapse. a thief who took a truck in ohio had a extra cargo. the driver is clinging to it as it goes down the street. the worker was up in the boct as the thief -- up in the bucket always the thief took off. he is facing not only theft, but kidnapping charges. the employee was shaken, but uninjured.

in the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast. nydia. >> thank you. new this morning, a fire destroyed a home in camden county. it broke out on the 400 block of kingston drive in cherry hill after midnight. you can see the heavy flames shooting from the roof. authorities say the home appears to be under renovation. there were no reports of any injuries. federal investigates may get their first chance today to get inside the now charred barclary friends senior living community in chester county. overnight firefighters continued to hose the smoldering hot spots more than 24 hours later. federal authorities have not been able to begin their investigation because the building is too hot to enter. once they do, they will have the difficult task to determine what started the blaze. 160 people were inside the home when the flames erupted thursday night. 27 people were injured, it's unclear if everyone was rescued or anyone is missing or dead.

house in 2015. he had just been released from jail the day before the murder. philadelphia police are looking for a man who has been trying to lure teenage boys into his car for sex. police say he was already lured two young boys and sexually assaulted them. dann cuellar has the details. >> it's really sick, you know what i am, it's mentally sick. he's got a problem. >> reporter: people reacting in east mount airy where police say a predator tried to lure a 16-year-old boy into his car on monday evening around 5:00 p.m. >> he asked him if he wanted to make some money by performing a sex act on the offender or the fender performing one on him. >> reporter: 4 or 5 blocks away in germantown he did it again, approached another 16-year-old male waiting for a bus, in both instances he showed them porn graphic videos on his cell phone, the young men ignored him
