november 18. i'm nydia han. in for gray today. here's what we're following for you right now on "action news." after a massive fire engulfed a senior living community in chester county, details on the citations the facility has been given in the past. plus a fire overnight damages multiple homes and burns a man in north philadelphia. it is race weekend as runners take on the philadelphia half and full marathon. meteorologist chris sowers joins us outside with the accuweather forecast. chris, a little rain coming our way, right? >> reporter: yeah, a little shower activity is possible in the afternoon, empty meantime it's a chilly start to the saturday. we had lows in the 20s, pottstown, 25 degrees. allentown and trenton getting down to 26. millville, bottoming out at 27 and wilmington, 29. we're rebounding, 44 in wilmington. 34 in reading. 34 in allentown. 50 in millville. 50 in cape may.

48 degrees in atlantic city. here's storm tracker 6 live a little band of rain approaching from the west. you can see yellows and oranges there northwest of harrisburg and east of state college. what we're seeing here, we're seeing sleet pellets falling in that rain. and those sleet pellets return at higher values. that's why we're suing the across and organs -- oranges there. all this is sliding off to the east. a couple of showers could survive over the next couple of hours, but it will hold off until the afternoon. here's the wider view. as you look toward the top of the scene we have white and blue showing up on the radar. that indicates wintery precipitation in wilks-berre and scranton. the call today, partly cloudy, mild, winds out of the south gets up to 54 degrees later on. be on the look out for showers after lunchtime. i'll be back along in just a few

minutes, we'll talk about the strong, gusty winds expected for the philadelphia marathon and we'll have the outlook for thanksgiving day. >> now a story we've been covering since thursday night. a five-alarm blaze ripped through a senior community in chester county. this morning officials hope to gain access to the complex that has been smoldering for more than a day. officials have not located all residence and staff members, but said 27 people were injured in the fire. meantime what caused the blaze remains a mystery. jeff chirico has the latest on the investigation. >> reporter: nearly 24 hours after the fire began crews continue to douse hot spots at the barclary friends senior living community. in daylight you can see the devastation from chopper 6. 160 people were inside when flames broke out thursday night. >> there were waves of flames. >> reporter: officials reported 27 people were injured, but it's unclear if everyone was rescued

or if anyone is missing or dead. >> it was a little chaotic during the evacuation. there were some folks who were evacuated out to west chester university. some folks, they went home with family. we're trying to account for everybody. >> reporter: as the fire rage for showers, firefighters and staff and neighbors ran into the buildings to rescue seniors. they lined up outside in 40-degree temperatures. 101-year-old mary meekum among them. >> the nurse came in and said it's a fire, she grabbed the oxygen off me. i was shocked. i couldn't believe it. she put me in the wheelchair and got out of there. everybody was following us, she kept saying come on, come on. >> reporter: most of the residents were relocated to senior living centers in the area. federal authorities arrived on the scene, but the building is too hot to enter. neighbors who came to see the

destruction are so impressed so many lives were changed. >> good training and emergency preparedness in the borough and around the county. people practice for this kind of thing. >> reporter: as of late yesterday afternoon, 17 of the 27 injured seniors remain in the hospital. now the atf has called their national response team to west chester. that consists of 25 special lists they will meet sometime this morning to be briefed on the situation. the hope is they can get inside the buildings to determine a cause. jeff chirico channel 6 "action news." >> "action news" has learned the department of health once cited barclary friends senior living community for fire safe violations. a building inspection in february found the building failed to close opens with sealant that blocks flames. hallways were blocked.

inspection reports show the violation was corrected. our coverage continues at 6abc.com. you can find updates strt scene and video -- from the scene and more video from action cam and chopper 6 hd. a man in his 70s suffered burns to his hands and face in an overnight fire in philadelphia. firefighters were called to west erie avenue. they found flames shooting from the top floor of the home. the houses on either side of the home suffered smoke and water damage displacing several people who live there. there's no word on what started the fire. at this time the senior's condition is not known. camden county, new jersey a home here was destroyed by an early-morning fire. the blaze was reported on kingston drive in cherry hill after midnight. while crews have not determined what sparked the fire, investigators believe the home was under renovation. no injuries were reported. 9:05 a.m., what's happening

a mixed bag across the northern portions of the state of pennsylvania. williamsport, state college seeing blues which would represent sleet pellets mixed in. if you look east, scranton, wilks-berre there was light snow reported an hour ago. 50 degrees in millville. you dopped down -- dropped down to 27 this morning. you've improved steadily. cape may, 50. 44 in philadelphia. 36 degrees in trenton with a calm wind speed. to the south we're seeing wind out of the southeast at 5 to 10 miles per hour. in advance of the low here which is currently coming through western portions of upstate new york. the cold front will slide through as we get into tomorrow morning. ahead of it, showers are likely this afternoon, overnighter tonight, as the front sits overtop of us, there could be another round of wet weather it tomorrow the bigger story will be the winds that howl on the

backside of the front as this high gets closer to the low, we get the pressure gradian, -- gradiant, wind tunnel effect in between the two. future tracker 6, winds out south that warms us up into the 50s. showers are likely after lunchtime that will continue scattered on and off type of stuff throughout the afternoon hours. this model is not suggesting anything for south jersey and delaware. accuweather will allow for the entire area to pick up scattered showers today. through the evening hours we'll see perhaps a few showers, right after sunset a lot of that will shut off, only to redevelop after midnight with the cold front itself. that punches through around 5:00 p.m., 6:00 a.m., 7:00 a.m. it hits the coast, as we start the philadelphia marathon we see the howling winds 40 to 45 miles per hour. for today, clouds out there, a few showers this afternoon,

bad today, but blustery tomorrow. >> reporter: temperatures get in the 50s this afternoon riding a strong southerly breeze. tomorrow the wind shift out of the northwest high temperature around 60, that occurs at midnight. the numbers tumble in the afternoon. 60 was the high on thursday, yesterday even though we managed a high of 51 in philadelphia. most other locations stayed in the 40s and windchills put it in the 40s, so it's a little deceiving that 51. 34 in allentown and reading. 44 in philadelphia. 50 in millville. cape may, 50. atlantic city, 48 and beach haven, 50 degrees. satellite and radar, clouds continue to lower and thicken here on city avenue. eventually we'll see showers roll in here later this afternoon. the system we're watching is right in the middle of the screen. the small area of low pressure it's trailing cold front slides through after midnight tonight. for today, accuweather says mainly cloudy conditions with showers developing after lunchtime. 54 degrees is the forecasted

pennsylvania. the officer has been identified as brian shaw. he had been with the department for less than a year. investigator say last night officer shaw made a traffic stop in new kensington and ended up running after the suspect. at some point shots were fired. local and state law enforcement responded to the scene looking for the suspect. a brown orderly model jeep grand cherokee has been identified and located. philadelphia police are looking for a man who has been luring teenage boys in his car for sex. he lured two young boys in the gas station in strawberry mansion. the boys were sexually assaulted before they managed to escape. the same man struck again monday night at the backup on fenton avenue in east mount airy. the man approached the boy and asked him to perform a sex act for money. he approached another teen five

blocks away. the latter two boys did not get into the vehicle. the suspect showed the boys porn graphic video on his phone. police are urging parents to warn their children. >> he is getting more aggressive. >> reporter: so he is not going to stop. >> it seems like that way, yes. >> authorities are looking for a light complected black man in his 20s with a mustache and maybe a beard. a dozen people vandalized two police vehicles in south philadelphia. they are damaged at the south street police station. someone took a hammer to the front windows an red paint was tossed on the police station. they sent off a smoke bomb and left behind antipolice flyers. no injuries were reported. a td bank in manayunk section was targeted in an armed robbery. police and fbi are searching for

could do it. >> police charge the boy's father -- >> i was trying to to be as calm as possible, but my mind is saying you're spiriling down. >> reporter: it bank apparent to producers on the scene and viewers around the region the unflappable anchor stammering and stumbling. >> 3,000 waddles -- >> moments later he was wisked off the set and rushed to the hospital where his story took a turn. a battery of test revealed a chris -- as i say, -- him -- cyt on his brain. it had grown. at first he thought was not something that needed treatment, but the rapid growth was blocking fluid from draining. pressure was building up fast,ed

body was shutting down. >> basically i could have died. he said it sounds like i was basically dieing. >> reporter: the surgery which involved making a small incision in gray's skull went well, but then the cyst gone bacterial meningitis set in a painful infection that kept him hospitalized for nearly two weeks. much of which he doesn't remember. >> i don't remember. >> reporter: gray is back home, resting and recovering with his wife and two young children. the headaches still come and go, and should disappear with time. although he is tired and weak at the moment, he is newlily strendenned by a simple realization arrived at in the most painful way. >> don't miss any pain, listen to your body because you're body is trying to keep you alive. >> reporter: gray told me he is relieved that the entire episode played out on the television
