was just released of one of those seniors being escorted out by a firefighter. again we know four seniors are unaccounted for. this is what we know about those four seniors. two of them are a married couple. they're an 80 and 92-year-old couple. then we know an 85-year-old woman and a 94-year-old woman are the four unaccounted for. we just got that update from chester county d.a. tom hogan. >> there is a tragedy. there are still four of those residents, four of those chester county citizens who are unaccounted for. >> reporter: it's the news so many hoped not to hear. just minutes ago chester county d.a. tom hogan at a news conference, four residents are still unaccounted for. hogan says as crews go into the charred building to search you pray for their families. >> they're going through some of the toughest times you could possibly imagine.

since the fire the west chester community has rallied around the displaced seniors and staff a many residents lost everything they had. yesterday at the goodwill fire company so many donations of clothes walkers toiletries you name it all came in. within a few hours they had to turn donors away. today we spoke to some of the families of seniors. how is he holding up. >> he's in the hospital, he's got smoke inhalation but his breathing is getting better. >> reporter: he came in donations for his father in law. he says the worker from barclay friends had a bag already sorted out for him. >> have a walker which is almost of exactly like the one he had so that will help him a lot. >> reporter: he like so many today want to thank this community for all of the help. >> we have the clothes, his nightclothes he calls them, he crawled out and he had nothing left. >> reporter: great to see how this community has rallied. and the next steps are to try

at 56. we're sitting at 48 degrees and some of that warmth will be moving in here during the day tomorrow. also, in addition to that warmth, there's very little happening weather-wise. another great thing for the holiday week. you see just some cloud cover here and there, maybe a couple of snow showers in the northern plains but that is about it. as we look at the midatlantic region as we think about our travel as we move forward tuesday, wednesday and thanksgiving itself, at least in the midatlantic region it is dry every single one of those days. however, one of those days, there will be a little band of showers for just a couple of hours. we'll let you know what day that will be in case you're traveling on that day and at that hour coming up in that full accuweather forecast sharrie which will also include the parade forecast, also. >> sounds good, adam. thank you. >> uh-huh. >> an armed robber is that wanted for targeting a bank in roxborough. the man robbed the td bank branch on the 5500 block of ridge avenue friday morning. when he walked inside police say he put a small revolver on

the counter and demanded money from the teller. once he got the cash, he ran away from the scene. the suspect was wearing a neon vest, a construction helmet, gloves and had his face covered. he concealed his identity but if you know anything about this crime you're asked to call the fbi or philadelphia police. >> the us government officially sentenced terminix for spraying a toxic pesticide. it illegally used methyl bromide at 13 residences and one resort in the u.s. virgin islands that includes the complex in saint john where a family of four from delaware got seriously ill in 2015 after the unit below them was fumigated. dr. theresa divine her husband steve and their two teen boys were poisoned by methyl bromide. it has been banned for indoor use for years. officials say the chemical

left the father and the two teenaged sons either paralyzed or partially paralyzed. the epa calls their actions illegal and the consequences unacceptable. now, as part of this plea recommendation out today terminix will pay $10 million in criminal fines. they'll serve community service and also issue restitution payments the extermination company has since agreed to stop using that pesticide in the u.s. and its territories. some of that money by the way will also go to the epa to continue the cleanup of that toxic life-threatening chemical. brian and sharrie. >> all right, alicia, thank you. turning now to the eagles and the birds big game in dallas last night. keeping their winning streak alive. >> yeah, the eagles are the only team in the league now with a nine and one record. it was a dominating performance. they beat the cowboys 37 to nine. it was a good old fashioned, you know what. the eagles stored 30 unanswered points in the second half corey clement part of the rushing attack. carson wentz tossed two touchdown passes one to torrey smith the other to alshon jeffreys. wentz has thrown 25td passes in the season. the eagles own a league best nine and one record. they have plenty of reason to stick their chest out but the birds refuse to do that. >> they don't get overwhelmed with it. they take it all in stride. they should enjoy it obviously as a team because they worked hard to get to this spot but at the same time it's business as usual. they keep talking about a one week mentality getting ready for work on tuesday and wednesday and thursday. and just trying to win the week and they've done that all season long and that's probably one of the biggest things i'm most proud of with this group.

warns you crash just ahead taking out the right shoulder. so that's the good news. this jackknifed truck is all off to the side but you can see all the heavy southbound traffic here passing creek road approaching 55 because of that jackknifed truck up ahead and and of course this is not where the delay begins. it begins back on the pennsylvania side of the river on the walt whitman bridge as you head into new jersey, speeds over there on the jersey side just around 11 miles per hour. had an earlier broken down vehicle on the schuylkill eastbound near passyunk. so, just 11 miles per hour there as well but at least that dv is out of the way. in chester county just getting word of a serious crash near thorndale along 340 near meadow drive. the fire police are out there helping around that intersection. and elsewhere in chester county near west chester bad crash here along 202. happened in the northbound lanes here at matlack street but they have southbound lanes blocked as well so either way, if you're traveling here in west chester it's going to be slow because 202 is partially blocked. also had an earlier crash in delaware on 95 southbound.

more. yes, the stadium was imploded this morning leaving just the outside walls still standing. contractors will tear down those walls in the coming days. the georgia dome was home to the atlanta falcons for 25 years. it was the only facility in the world to host the olympics, the super bowl and the final four. the falcons now play at the new mercedes benz stadium across the street. >> the city of philadelphia is showing off what it learned from creating a pitch for the second amazon headquarters. mayor jim kenney says the process taught the city how to put its best foot forward. and that amazon bid will be used as a template to attract other businesses down the road. the mayor spoke today at the navy yard which is one of three sites the city proposed for an amazon headquarters. >> many of us are working overtime this week getting the house ready for the arrival of thanksgiving guests. of course that also means preparing for the main event.

thanksgiving day parade, of course that airs right here on channel6 and also goes down that parkway in front of the art museum steps and take a look at the forecast. fairly flawless. hardly a cloud in the sky. yes it's going to be cold in the morning, the kickoff time 9:00 a.m. 37 degrees, 39 at 10 o'clock and by lunchtime temperatures in the lower 40's, so definitely want to dress warmly but there doesn't look to be a strong wind a at all so we're not talking wind chills. that's good for the balloons. all those volunteers, it looks pretty easy on thursday morning. wind speeds 20 miles an hour sustained up in the lehigh valley, 18 philadelphia, 15 in millville, 12 beach haven and 12 miles an hour in lancaster county. so, it is bringing wind chills in the 30's for places like allentown and lancaster but for the remainder of the area, we're looking at about 40 to

42 degrees is how it feels. the big exception up in the poconos, only 28 degrees. satellite and radar, a lot of sun. all the clouds lift to the north and have been throughout the day today with some of those lake effect snow bands heading into northern and central parts of new york state, so we are good to go with that clear sky overnight tonight. yes, it gets cold by the morning with those southwest winds about four to 8 miles an hour, 29 allentown, 32 in lancaster, 35 in wilmington, 35 millville and at the shore temperatures near 40 degrees. big change for tomorrow compared to today. and that will be those temps going back into the upper 50's in the afternoon, maybe touching 60 degrees. good amount of sun in the morning, some clouds do increase as we get towards the afternoon. as a weak system arrives here and that little band of showers for a couple of hours looks to fall in the wee hours of wednesday morning. this is 3 o'clock in the morning but by the time we start to kick off that travel day wednesday, 8:30 in the morning, the showers move away and we dry it out for the rest

>> well, this is nine-year-old maddie swenson from warminster and she is a big flyers fan. so as you can imagine spending the afternoon in the locker room with the team after a morning practice today was a pretty big deal but it's why the players invited her that's the real cause for celebration. maddie is receiving her final chemotherapy treatment on friday. she's been battling leukemia and it's about to all be in the rear view for this little fighter here. today she got her very own jersey with the number 10 to mark her tenth birthday next week. she took pictures with her favorite players, they all signed that jersey there for her. her family says they are simply overwhelmed with joy and gratitude. >> it's a real important and significant time in our -- to are our family so we're just glad to be here and have her recognized for all the hard things she's been through. >> just to be here and -- in all this greatness is kind of like, you know, it's a little dream come true. it's really cool. >> maddie will wear her jersey

day at roxborough elementary school offering support to students and staff who are mourning the loss avenue beloved teacher. 62-year-old sheila hawkins and her family became trapped in their home yesterday morning. neighbors rescued her husband and son but could not get to hawkins. by the time firefighters pulled her out the third grade teacher suffered third degree burns and died at the hospital. the chaumont elementary school community is devastated by her loss. hawkins had been teaching there for decades. >> my heart is aching this morning because she was just so wonderful and the kids loved her. >> it's going to be hard because you're talking about a teacher who knew everybody. >> now, makes and neighbors and the school community are raising money and supplies for the hawkins family. the cause of that fire is still under investigation. >> philadelphia police are searching for a man who used a bomb threat to rob a hunting park liquor store. detectives released this surveillance video from inside the wine and spirits store on the 4200 block of north broad street. well, you can see a man walk

into the business last tuesday and hand the cashier a note saying he had a bomb and demanding he empty both registers. the robber fled after stealing an unknown amount of cash. if you recognize him contact east detectives. >> former homeland security secretary and pennsylvania governor tom ridge is still hospitalized today but he's said to be making progress. his family says they are cautiously optimistic he'll make a full recovery after he suffered a heart attack in texas. he's still being treated in the intensive care unit where he's responding to doctors. ridge's wife says his medical team is encouraged by his progress but there's still a long road ahead. >> turning to our forecast and a very busy week ahead. >> yeah, and by the looks of it going to be pretty nice. meteorologist adam joseph joining us with the word from accuweather this afternoon. >> busy week for most people. thankfully in this department doesn't look to be all that busy, which is what we like to hear especially around the holiday. we started the day today on the chilly side. those winds though coming way down from where they were

robert tracy was officially sworn in as the department's police chief. mayor mike purzycki did the honor. tracy was appointed in april but had to undergo six months of training. 15 on the officers were promoted to the ranks of the sergeant lieutenant captain or inspector. >> imagine saving up and paying tens of thousands of dollars to have work done on your home only to end up empty handed and a house in shambles. it's becoming a common problem with consumers in our area. monica malpass in the news room with more on this story today. >> hi, sharrie, pennsylvania attorney general josh shapiro came to our 6abc studios and gave this story exclusively to our nydia han. it involves a contractor accused of bilking homeowners. one client said she paid nearly $50,000 for work on her home and now she barely has a roof over her head. a happy update to a story

that was how it looked as an out of control driver barreled his car around a traffic stop, hitting the parked cruiser and coming within feet of this officer standing on the side of the road. one officer fired his gun at the car in response. the driver was stopped a short distance later and arrested for driving while intoxicated. incredibly no one was seriously hurt here. well, we're getting dramatic video of the moments before a small plane came down on a highway in clearwater florida. three sheriff's deputies were caught by surprise when the aircraft came in low yesterday morning. they say the plane was less than 30 feet above their patrol car after experiencing engine trouble. despite clipping a tree and spinning out, the pilot and his passenger walked away unharmed. >> well, if you have ever accidentally opened a stranger's door thinking their car is your uber, well, this new tool is for you. uber is testing out a device called the beacon. customers select a color in

the uber app then look for that color to start glowing on their uber's windshield. the beacon is meant to make it easier for people to find their drivers, particularly in crowded areas like airports or sports arenas. currently the feature is only available in new york, chicago and san francisco. but if it is a success, it will be added to more cities. >> ♪ >> big talkers now and hugging, it's holiday time and if your family is like mine going around the table and hugging all the relatives it's customary and well sort of mandatory but the girl scouts of america questioning that tradition now with a new blog called reminder, she doesn't owe anyone a hug, not even at the holidays. they say o is the key word here and without realizing it daughters can get the wrong idea about consent and physical affection. girl scouts developmental psychologist says it should be at child's decision whether to show affection and there are other ways to show appreciation thankfulness and lover that don't require

physical contact. we used some hugging pictures of my daughter there. we're huggers. if you want to see santa claus at least the one at macy's flagship location in new york city, you're going to need an appointment. macy's says he's a busy man this time of year and so for the first time ever, reservations are a must. anyone who wants to sit with old saint nick at santa land can start booking up to five days in advance. the meet and greet is free but if you want a picture with him packages start at about 20 bucks. they, say, hey, santa is really in demand and the white time to meet him has been long in previous years, i know, i've been there, so no walk ins are allowed this year. your name must be on the list and we are not talking about the naughty or nice one. that is your business. finally here's a question. there's a popular thanksgiving staple hitting your holiday table this week likely and many may not know that it is a fruit. and we are not talking about cranberries.

green beans, yes, green beans people treated as a vegetable but a fruit. botanists say fruits are structures that contain seeds. that are seeds in those green bean pods. it's technically called a dry fruit like all legumes which means when fully developed the pod will dry out and crack opened to reveal a mature seed. there will be a test on this later. by now you probably know a tomato is a fruit but more specifically it's actually a berry. >> ahh. i still don't like green beans. >> i'll eat both myself. >> no. >> doesn't change my opinion. >> none for brian but i'll take it. >> i go right for the stuffing. >> you can have mine. thanks to this, southbound accident. this is our second 202 accident of the afternoon. this one is southbound in malvern between 29 and 401. it's taking out the left lane. had been blocking the center lane as well so traffic's really slow. 46 minutes on that southbound travel time. it's about three times what it should be as you come southbound away from the schuylkill down toward the 30 bypass. you start to jam right around 252. so, i would stick with business 30, which is lancaster avenue instead of 202. our other 202 accident in west chester by matlack street, that one's gone. still some slow speeds in that neck of the woods but all of the lanes are opened on that chunk of 202. elsewhere in chester county in thorndale, there's a crash along 340, kind of between the bypass and business 30. i would just use 322 to get around that. if you're out and about in oreland montgomery a vehicle broke down on 309 northbound at paper mill. right lane is blocked as you head near the pennsylvania turnpike. in bristol township a crash

along new falls road at sunset avenue. luckily that has cleared out of the way. for the most part this afternoon on the schuylkill and 95 it's just normal volume but getting into new jersey is still rough at the walt whitman bridge because we still have that jackknifed truck up ahead on 42 southbound blocking the right lane at the 55 on-ramp so coming off the bridge, it is pretty much a stand still on 42 southbound. think alternates like the black horse pike. we'll check it again, though, brian and sharrie, coming up in the 5 o'clock hour. >> matt thank you. >> take a live look outside this evening. chopper6 giving us a beautiful view of sunset over center city philadelphia. >> meteorologist adam joseph coming up with your thanksgiving day forecast when we come back. >> ♪

a lot of friends and family coming into town and it's looking pretty good. >> it is. one tiny bump in the road wednesday morning with showers but that's about it. smooth sailing otherwise. as we take a look at the action cam which was out in fairmount park earlier today, you can see there most of the leaves have dropped at this point, very late in the year. some are still holding on to their leaves, the trees, that is. but those winds of yesterday really kind of pulled a lot of them down. so as we take a look at sky6 live in the weather center as you can see from that vantage point earlier in the day it was beautiful. a bit on the chilly side as we look at sky6 at city hall there at dillworth park and the rothman ice rink. a lot of folks enjoying this evening. i see a lot of hats and gloves on. that's because of the wind that continues to funnel around especially in center city as it carves through a lot of buildings it can pick up steam. 18 miles an hour sustained in the city, 20 in parts of the lehigh valley, 15 in millville

and 12 miles an hour in lancaster. so, when you factor in that wind, you take a look at the wind chills, 37 in allentown, 30's for lancaster, 41 in philadelphia, 42 in millville, same for cape may, so, yes, there's a chill in the air but going to turn things around for your tuesday. satellite and radar, a few high clouds up to the north but that is about all. high pressure in control and you can see the lack of cloud cover as we go into the overnight hours it's clear its cold but lighter winds. it's kind of pulling down to around four to 8 miles an hour. 29 in the suburbs. 37 degrees for center city. so above freezing in the city itself. then as we go into tuesday, tomorrow, we're between fronts so we get a southwesterly wind. that's a milder wind with just high clouds in the afternoon, 59 degrees. some thermometers easily could touch 60 here and then as that cold front comes through it's very early on wednesday morning, a couple of predawn showers. otherwise quickly turning sunny here wednesday morning into the afternoon. a little bit cooler, 54 degrees and then high

pressure comes in behind that front going into thanksgiving itself. so it's sunny, calm winds, really a perfect thanksgiving despite it's a little on the cold side. so, your travel day on wednesday, lunchtime, 50 degrees, in boston 47 new york city 49 in philadelphia, the rain is off the coast even for new england. if you're heading down to the south really quiet weather here as well, 70 in charleston at lunchtime on wednesday, a little cooler in lexington, 40 degrees, atlanta 60 degrees and in the northern plains great lakes, it's cold here but as you could see there's no major storms on wednesday anywhere in the country, 20's and 30's in that area. as we look at the exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast, 59 tomorrow on the mild side and then an early shower wednesday, otherwise it's a sunny day, 54 degrees. the coldest day will be thanksgiving but again, at least we're not going to have any wind or wind chill to contend with. 45 in the afternoon for the 6abc dunkin donuts thanksgiving day parade. 30's for the majority of the parade and then a nice

malpass. >> ♪ >> the images are heartbreaking. an elderly woman, a firefighter pushing another person in a wheelchair while heavy smoke billowed and poured out of the barclay friends senior living community. authorities say it was a miracle so many people got out alive but now we know that there was a tragedy inside this building. >> monday night, the big story on "action news" tonight is that we are learning four residents of barclay friends senior home facility are officially unaccounted for. >> they've been missing since late thursday night when the fire forced more than a hundred people into the dark. "action news" reporter dann cuellar was at today's news conference with authorities. he's live outside at the west chester courthouse tonight with the very latest. dann. >> reporter: rick and monica, a national response team from the federal atf has been brought in to assist in the investigation as to the cause which tonight remains a mystery.

five days after the ferocious fire at barclay friends and senior assisted living investigators fear the worst about four elderly residents who remain unaccounted for after an exhaustive search. >> the four people who are unaccounted for, one is a married couple. the wife 89 years old, the husband 92 years old. there is an 85-year-old woman who has yet to be accounted for and a 93-year-old woman. >> reporter: hundreds of volunteer firefighters and first responders had risked their lives thursday as the wind swept fire turned into a massive inferno. this is surveillance video of the response minutes after the fire broke. >> taking people out in a wheelchair, a woman taken out by a firefighter. if you look over here you'll see flames are already to the front of the building. >> the firefighters told me that they kept going back in there until their helmets were melting and cracked. police officers were running in there without any breathing
