the men accused of killing a state strooper was in court tote. daniel clary faced a district judge for a preliminary hearing. walter perez was there and has the full story. >> trooper ryan siple took the stand during the preliminary hearing offering graphic details about what happened. he told the court he feared for his life after alleged gunman daniel clary opened fire on him and corporal seth kelly during a traffic stop two weeks ago and described the scene as he worked to help corporal kelly who was hurt and bleeding badly. while kelly remains in the icu his condition is improving. >> he is hanging in there and i am proud of him and he is

getting better every day. >> it was november 7th when stiple pulled over carry and kelly arrived for backup and deteriorated to an all out melee as clary pulled out a gun and opened fire. corporal kelly was shot three times and clary was hit repeatedly as well and was able to drive himself to easton hospital where he was later arrested. the public defendanter did not offer details about the decision to enter a not guilty plea and to ask the judge to dismiss the charges. >> at this time we are gathering information and moving forward with the defense. >> not surprisingly the case will go to trial and two more charges were added. one count of dui and second count of disarming a law enforcement officer and there will be no plea deal. >> he want to get to the trial right away and get this thing started to get this guy locked

operation thanksgiving was underway at philadelphia police headquarters, this year their employees collected $13,000 to provide thanksgiving meals to 420 city families. >> this is the time thanksgiving a time to be grateful and a time of blessing. >> the police feel good about it and the families are receptive and volunteers and the command staff created an assembly line and creating boxes and piling them up to be distributed to families in need. we are about community and sharing and collaboration and we are about helping those that need help. that is the cornerstone of where we exist. each box is finished off with a letter from the philadelphia police department and grateful for the trust put in them for the guardians and ambassadors of public safety. this was bound up for the 18th district for commune relations
