inside a home in the city's king section today. the bullet struck the little girl's leg. tonight she faces a long and uncertain road to recovery. sunday night, and the big story on action news is the investigation into an accidental shooting that left a little girl severely injured. >> it happened this afternoon when the girl somehow was able to get a hold of her father's gun. annie mccor smack live at children's hospital with the latest. annie. >> reporter: and walter and sarah, that's right. that little girl, only 3 years old, under went surgery. the doctors working to save her leg. authorities say she found her father's unlocked gun, pulled the trigger and shot herself in the leg. this is the 64-year-old grandmother charged tonight by philadelphia police after her 3-year-old granddaughter found her father's gun and pulled the trigger under her grandmother's care. police say the child's father will be charged too. it happened here around noon

inside this home in the 1300 block of south wilton. according to police, the father instructed the grandmother to secure the gun when he rushed to work. >> she puts it into a cross et. it's in a holster. doesn't have a lock on it. obviously we believe the grandmother may have fell asleep, we're not sure. but the child, at 3, gets a hold of this gun and able to pull the trigger. >> reporter: police say the grandmother hid the gun after the shooting and a call to 911 from the home was only for a person bleeding. >> medics were trying to determine what actually happened inside the house. the grandmother is not helping at this point. telling us she didn't know. >> reporter: police say medics eventually got the full story. the little girl was sitting on her leg when the gun went off. doctors are now working to save her leg. >> she has three gunshot wounds which came from one bullet from a 40 caliber glock handgun. the child had her leg folded, went through her thigh, through

her calf and blew her calf out. >> reporter: and tonight the child's father and grandmother are facing charges of endangering the welfare much a child. also, regularless endangerment. separately the grandmother is facing a charge of tampering with evidence. for now, reporting live outside of chop, annie mccormack, action news. >> thank you. fire fighters in glouster county had a three alarm fire in pleasantville just after 6:00. when they arrived flames were shooting out of the garage. crews believe that's where the fire started before it spread to the living room and kitchen. the red cross is assisting the family. also in pleasantville, fire fighters battled a two aheart fire just after 8:00 on south street. no injuries reported. an update to a story from last night. officials identified the two people shot to death on i-95 in bucks county last night.

investigators say it appears to be a case of murder/suicide. maria choo linn choo and david choo linn choo, both from philadelphia. police were called to i-95 in ben salem for a woman running on foot alongside the road. officials heard two gunshots and discovered both bodies next to each other with the gun in the man's hand. today was a big travel day as folks wrapped up a holiday weekend and headed for home. penn's landing, you can see traffic has thinned out and moving along nicely. hopefully most have made it home after a nice thanksgiving weekends. it was not smooth sailing on i-495 south this evening. it was shut down after a bad accident involving several vehicles. closed for more than two hours while police investigated the collision. several people were injured, but it's not known how severe the

a husband and wife from glouster county have been married three months, but they're having another party to celebrate their special day. victoria and dominic of clayton were given a redo because an allergic reaction sent victoria to the hospital during the first reception. turns out her milk and almond allergies were exacerbated by exercise. in this case, she was dancing at this reception. the caterers graciously hosted the reception redo along with many of the couple's original guests. >> it's fine. you don't usually hear of
