now she is under a doctor's care and it's tuesday night and the big story on action news is a scary ride for a 61-year-old woman a ride that ended under water. action news reporter dann cuellar is live on mlk drive-by the strawberry mansion bridge and dann you have the full story. >> reporter: that's right jim the quality of mercy was on display here tonight for as the woman's car plunged into the chilly waters of the schuylkill river a rowing team that happened to be nearby saw what happened and raced into action. the roof of the car could still be seen submerged in the schuylkill river as a dive team looked to make sure no one else was in the vehicle minutes earlier the 61-year-old driver seen here being treated by been the chilly waters from two rowers from the club and in their racing shell about to start practice when suddenly they saw the headlights from at. one of the rowers who did not want to be identified spoke to

us by phone. >> definitely shocking and i didn't know how to react at first one of us jumped in andtr and it wouldn't open and we went to the first door and found the person that was in the vehicle and pulled them out. the person was unresponsive but would provide and provide medical care for the 61-year-old driver police are still trying to determine how the car actually ended up in the river but grateful to the row team. >> thankful to the rowers who went in the water and rescued the individual and got them out of the water and get them to safety and provided what do. >> reporter: they were glad they were able to help. >> none of us wanted to allow something terrible to happen when we were there and behelp.
