"action news" reporter, sara bloomquist, is live at the school on south 7th street in society hill. sara what happened there? >> reporter: jim, the 13-year-old was taken into police custody without any problem after the loaded gun was found in the school building this morning. i am told by a source that the

7th grader is telling investigators that he found the weapon. he still will face charges because i am told he will bring it into the school building. the district sent a letter home with students explaining what unfolded here. >> at dismissal today parents expressed alarm when parents learned what happened at mccall elementary school a well regarded public school at 7th and pine at society hill. >> scary. scary. wow. especially at mccall -- >> 9:45 another student alerted the principal that a 13-year-old 7th grader showed him the weapon and some parents were in the library for a meeting when the school went into lock down. >> we heard on the loud speaker there was a lock down and the librarian was in the room with us and went into action. and told us what to do and where

to go and we stayed quietly huddled together for about 30 minutes. >> authorities found the loaded gun and the student was taken into custody and the lock down was lifted. police tell "action news" the weapon was stolen taken in a robbery in 2013. >> obviously it is unacceptable for there to be a weapon much less a gun in any of our schools and we take these things very seriously and take immediate action to ensure the safety of our students and staff. >> none of the children including my own had any idea what was going on and they thought it was a drill. and practiced that before. >> everybody was safe and the staff handled it very, very well. >> again tonight, the seventh grader is telling investigators that he found this weapon and i am told that his parents have no

this could be a big problem and penndot is facing a shortage of snowplow drivers and it's action is putting out a call for anybody with a commercial drivers license class a or b and they have a lot of turnover recently that left them without an enough crews. say it ain't so. and penndot is in search of diesel mechanics to help service the truck. the colder temperatures on the way ski resorts in the area are gearing up for brisk business and hoping for a better season than they had in reaccept sent years. >> blue mountain was able to open forever the weekend on black friday. there were enough cold nights in november to turn on the snow guns and cover five of their trails but warmer than average

conditions since then made it difficult to maintain the snow base and something that resort officials say is becoming a bit of a pattern. >> the past two winters have been hard for us. and we are excited to see what feels like normal winter temperatures that allow us to take advantage of it and blow as much snow as we can. >> and go south to bear creek mountain resort and the site is tougher for skiers and snowboard snowboarders. >> we tried to upgrade the equipment and cooling towers for the water temperature and did as much as we can to combat the inconsistent cold we have had for really the last five years. >> marketer jeff says the last two seasons were lackluster and the 2015-2016 season the slopes were only open 65 days and the standard for a good season is hundred days.

eagles continue to work for the los angeles rams. >> practicing as we speak in sunny southern california. it's not ideal but the eagles are making the best of it. so far a week long stay in southern california is going rather smoothly. the 10-2 eagles face the 9-3 rams and no zach ertz today he is still in concussion protocol and using the stadium in anaheim as their practice facility. the eagles are making it work. >> it's seamless so, you know gracious obviously for the angels for allowing us to practice there and the grounds crews did an amazing job with putting sod down and doing a great job. it's seamless and the transition is good and offices are great and players are adjusting well. and it feels like nova care. >> good. the eagles may be out of town but their practice facility is

teasing? >> it's the real deal with have an opportunity for snow but not a huge storm. especially along the coast on saturday and monday in the lee valley. and the action cam looking at camden along the waterfront today where it was cloudy and it was breezy and now we are live on sky 6 hd taking a look at the rothman ice rink at dillworth park a lot of people bundled up having a dry afternoon. and tomorrow will be the nicest day in the next week or two. lots of sunshine and seasonable. and temperatures dropped down to a high of only 40 for friday, saturday, sunday and monday. i'm tracking the threat of snow showers over the weekend.

part of the reason why, 43 in philadelphia and down 34 and atlantic city airport 42 and reading currently 37. so satellite and radar showing the front that moved through last night that brought us that quick round of rain. has stalled down to the south and what this is doing is bringing us cloud cover and we have a small area of high pressure that builds in tonight and that forces the clouds farther to the south and we clear out tonight and it's going to be typically cold for early december and 23 degrees and 36 for stenner city. and tomorrow the high pressure over us lots of sunshine and temperatures where they should be for december 7th. 48 in philadelphia and allentown 46 and the same in trenton and cape may 49 and wilmington 48 degrees. this is typically the time of year i am talking about snow because allentown today. and the average first snow of the season measurable snow

anywhere more than a .10 inch. atlantic city typically the first snow not until the 23rd of december and atlantic city has the best chance of seeing snow this weekend and watching the coast with the low pressure is pull ago way from the coast and not hugging, what this means snow showers brush areas southeast of philadelphia and saturday morning into the afternoon. and we are looking at a slushy coating to perhaps an inch on grassy surfaces as it stands now in extreme southern new jersey and parts of delaware have to continue watch that and the low shifts and the forecast could change. so the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast. sunny and seasonable and 48 degrees and clouds drop to 40 on friday. and saturday snow showers southeast and 48 degrees and sunday a chance of showers north of philadelphia and the high only 39 and monday partly sunny and 41 and tuesday for hanukkah we have another cold front that
