after it will reach the lehigh valley it's the first snow of the season and the accumulations will actually climb to substantial levels in some areas and so welcome to winter 2017. it is friday night and the big story on action news tonight is our winter weather advisory and storm warning, it is a double dose of winter weather, we have action news reporters trish hartman and dann cuellar straked out in strategic locations but first let's get the late word from accuweather and cecily tynan. >> double scan live showing plenty of moisture streaming up from the south and a lot has been missing to the south and what is happening low pressure developing off the coast of south carolina and once that develops it will pivot this so the moisture moves in land and encounters the cold air and produces the snow and cape may county it's been snowing there kind of on-and-off at different rates since about 3:00 this afternoon, about an inch and a

half and that location notice dover delaware also some light snow but again this will be pushing in as we head through overnight. so when you wake up if you live in central delaware and southeastern new jersey the roads will already be slippery by daybreak 1-3" of snow on the ground already as far as philadelphia the immediate suburbs and around daybreak and lehigh you will have to wait a while and snow beginning there mid to late morning so we have winter storm warnings in effect for southern new jersey and central delaware areas in pink this is where i expect to see the heaviest snow amounts philadelphia and new castle and the surrounding communitys looking at winter weather advisories so our accuweather alert continues for saturday, the steadyist snow between 9:00-3:00 in the afternoon but it's basically snowing all day, the highest totals will be southeast. we will looking at roads that will be slushy and slick and

tapers off in the evening and temperatures drop in the 20s with black ice and more details on the timing and the effected snow amounts in the seven-day forecast jim. >> all right cecily reporter trish hartman is live on grand avenue in wild wood and trish could are seeing the first of the system that much of the area will see overnight and into tomorrow. >> reporter: that's right jim we have been seeing the snow for a few hours now and just off of the bridge coming in to wild wood and we will take a look here the snow is sticking on to the grass and the greenery just a trace on the sidewalk here and so for the roadways are just we things are starting to get slippery but still say they love this december snow. >> usually wear shorts in december so it's nice the way it's supposed to be. >> the boardwalk in wild wood is not covered in stand but a pristine snow making things a little more festive according to those we found out and about. >> enjoying it my three-year-old

tragedy. a driver was killed when his vehicle was hit by flying debris this morning. the victim has been identified as 57-year-old gregory leiber of lang horn and went through the windshield and hit leeb -- leiber and happened at 11:00 this morning and debris went airborne after being hit by a truck in the westbound lanes and looking for the driver of that truck. a philadelphia police officer was injured by a bullet while responding to a call about a dog attack in north philadelphia this afternoon. the incident began at 12:30 along 2900 block north juddson and officer kevin faye and partner were called to help an 80-year-old woman who was being attacked by a dog. police say the officers were forced to shoot and kill the dog but a bullet rickashayed and hit faye in the shin. faye was treated and released from the hospital. the woman suffered serious

injuries. investigators have released new information about the fire at the bark lay friends senior center in west chester authorities say the fire started outside the building in an area of a covered patio. how it started is still under investigation. the atf is awaiting the results of additional testing, the agency expects to announce that information next week. new at 11:00 tonight delaware state police are looking for two shoplifting suspects they say got away with 4300 worth of designer clothing. investigators just released these pictures of the two women, the incident happened november 28 at the sax on fifth department store in newark. store employees saw the women take off with merchandise they didn't pay for and came back an hour and 45 minutes later and stole more items and got away in a red 2017hundai with new york

tags. a handwriting expert has confirmed that an inscription in nelson's high school year book from 1977 was written by then alabama da roy moore. nelson acknowledges that she added the date in place of the inscription but the moore campaign says that that under mines her entire story. nelson says moore attacked her in his car after she accepted his offer of a ride home when she was 16 and a waitress at the old hickory house restaurant and moore running for the senate of alabama was 34. president trump held a rally tonight in pensacola florida and urged voters to elect moore from a special election coming on tuesday and trump said quote we cannot afford the future of this country cannot afford to lose the seat to a democrat.

so this is a live picture sky six in cape may and look what it's doing. snow is moving, i know it's snowing, snow is moving in from the south and the east and see a steady snowfall overnight and through the morning hours. winter weather advisories and winter storm warnings are in effect and the full details from accuweather and cecily tynan will be coming in just a fewmom. a new fire that ignited in san diego county has already destroyed at least 85 structures. residents effected by the other wildfires burning in california have begun to return home to assess their damage. santa ana winds that fueled the blaze z died down some and more than a thousand firefighters are battling on the ground and seven air tankers and 15 helicopters

are doing it from the air. officials release new detailed today about the deadly school shooting in new mexico yesterday, the suspect has been identified as 21-year-old william atchinson the f.b.i. revealed that they interviewed him last year about comments he made online and authorities say he killed two students after getting into the school by disguising himself as a student. the san juan county sheriff said he left a message work school and his life were bad and that he wanted out. the suspect killed himself. the white house is urging all parties to quote act in a matter conducive to peace. those words come as clashes broke out during a second day of rage that following president trump's decision to recognize jerusalem as the capitol of israel, shots rang out and protesters started fire in bethlehem on the west bank and palestinian ambassador spoke out

showing 7:00 in the morning right around daybreak that snow band reaching the i-95 corridor it pushes north by 1:00 it's snowing everywhere, the lehigh valley burkes county the poconos but notice right along jersey shore of the delaware beaches this is where we get some of that mixing in with some of that rain and continues in the evening hours by 5:30 a band of heavier snow just east of philadelphia and then everything wraps up by about 11:30 just from lingering snow showers so expected snow showing the lehigh valley the poconos bucks and philadelphia and i-95, 2-4 and 2-4 with mixing right along the coast but the jackpot is interior and central delaware 4-8" of that heavy wet snow so do be careful tomorrow as you are driving there. central delaware southeast new jersey the snow will be covering the roads, philadelphia, i-95
