this is the historic storm that brought snowfall to areas in texas and georgia that never see it. now we can see the snowfall beginning to approach the area. it was a little slow to start. i want to show you the latest right now with storm tracker 6 live double scan, the best way to tell exactly where the snow is falling. i want to give you the most contract view here. we're watching right now and see the precipitation that's racism off the coast, a mixed precipitation in atlantic city and dover. snowfall coming down in delaware, especially i'll go in closer to those areas. a minute ago we were looking at dover and mixed precipitation changing back over to light flurries in smyrna, and middletown, it's a little bit heavier and salem it's snowing. fortescue flurries, as well millville. i think you'll hardly notice them just yet driving around in elmer and glassboro. the moisture is saturating the citizens now and we're seeing the snow fill in.

they say the box, the doghouse had the windows nailed shut and two dogs and puppy were kept inside. philadelphia police responded to the home late last night. "action news" tried to speak to the pet owner, but he declined to talk to us. pennsylvania state police looked into the bizarre accident on the turnpike that cost a man his life. fly debris hit the windshield east on the turnpike. an object went through the windshield and hit him in the head. police believe the debris went airborne after being hit by a truck in the westbound lanes. they are be looking for the driver of the truck. a philadelphia police officer is recovering after being injured by a bullet an responding to a dog attack in north philadelphia. it happened 2900 block of north

4 inches of snow as falling in southern delaware as old man winter makes his first appearance in the tri state region this weekend. karen rogers is in for chris sowers keeping an eye on the storm. >> reporter: a lot of has changed in the last half-hour as we watch the snowfall move into the region. let's look at the weather center, sat light and radar. in maryland they got 7 inches of snow, areas that are not used to seeing snow down to the south got hit with it. now we see the moisture working up toward our region. the latest view, storm tracker 6 live double scan, what a difference just an hour ago, the snow has moved in. take a closer look, double scan is the best way to show you what's happening. we look right now we can see it close to philadelphia. they have flurries in reading nothing near allentown and pilots and lancaster maybe a

couple of flurries, let's go in closer, and show you quickly. we can see the precipitation of the area of blue and icy mix, rain mixing in cape may. in southern delaware you have to be careful for the mixing. it's light snowfall in dover and smyrna and much of south jersey, as well. we went through that quickly. we have light snowfall not just yet in chad ford. the media you're dry. 36 degrees the current temperature. allentown, 32. millville, 35. 32 in cape may. and 34 degrees in atlantic city. so when it comes down, in many of the areas, just melting that's why we're seeing the shots of mobile 6 driving around and the ground surfaces, the highways are just wet. 7:00 a.m., a lot of us still dry and 36 degrees, but by lunchtime in the next couple of hours we'll see the snow filling in. lunchtime most of us snowy. 34 degrees. 3:00 p.m., temperatures hovering

around or above the freezing mark as snow continues through the day. 5:00 p.m., it's snowing. 7:00 p.m. it's snowing. when you have hours and hours upon snow that will create issues some on the roads, but you see it pile up on the grassy surfaces. the this area in the bright pink or fuchsia lasts through sunday morning this is a long-term eventful weekend the advisory is for philadelphia and areas north and west. here's what we can expect. the totals have not change very much. lehigh valley one to two inches. pilots, 2 inches of snow. philadelphia, it hadn't snowed yet. but it will most of the day. 2, 3 inches of snow, you may see one or two people along the i-95 corridor that 4. millville, 4 and potentially 6 to 8 inches. cape may, 2 to 4 inches.

drive, avalon, new jersey. he is starting to see flurries here. bob brooks is at the service plaza in hammonton, atlantic county. he is starting to see the white stuff. once it starts it's going to be a long term situation today. this is the video from the global wildlife center in louisiana. the wildlife preserve is not used to seeing snowfall. they got enough for the animals to have fun. this is mike the tiger playing in the snow on the main campus of the louisiana state university in baton rouge. the bengal tiger is one-year-old, it is his first snowfall. snow has not fallen here in more than 7 years. mike the tiger is the mass cot for the lsu tiger football team arena lives near the stadium. >> he is having a good time. >> reporter: you don't want to mess with him, i want to give him whatever he wants. a lot of kids are excited and

big kids, too, about the snowfall coming. let's take a look, sky6 live hd showing us we're dry over the ben franklin bridge, but that snow is coming we've been watching over the last hour or so as the moisture started to fill in we're seeing the snowfall through much region now. let's take a look at storm tracker 6 live double scan, you can see for the most part it's starting off light. you can tell by the areas of gray. you see how you have a band of bright lights here, the rest of the area is showing gray. that means there's flurries where it's gray. dry in allentown and dry in the city, let's go in tighter to this, you get a better idea what's happening. some of the brighter white coming down just a little bit more in glassboro, medford lakes, route 70. just flurries flying around in wrightstown, a few flurries, as well.

route 55 traveling through glassboro or woodbury, you'll not have any problems traveling just yet. you can see the snow flurries and snow showers filling in. wilmington you're getting snow, salem, as well. do you see the area of blue in we have an icy mix coming down at rain and at times coming down as an icy mix. be careful as you travel it apps to be wet, cape may, sea isle and atlantic city. along the coastline we expect that to happen at times today that's why the numbers will be lower near the coast. here's a wider look at storm tracker 6 live, you see what happened over the past couple of hours, the snow was slow to start, we had a dry slot. now the moisture is working through the region. there's a lot of more where that came from. the numbers tells the story it's freezing in the lehigh valley you're dry there, along i-95 corridor you're above freezing,

we expect melting and certainly initially on the road surfaces. 35 in millville. 34 in atlantic city. this is the east coast, this is a historic storm this brought snowfall to places who have never seen it in a decade, in texas and georgia and raleigh you're getting rain. it's a frontal system that's off the coastline. this low pressure will blossom a little bit. as it heads toward the region, we're seeing the model pull closer to us, we're getting more snowfall. 8:00 a.m., 35 degrees with snow through much of the region. 10:00 a.m., snowing everywhere. lunchtime snowing in the lehigh valley, philadelphia and south jersey, snowing at varying rates during the day, 33 degrees, if the temperatures were below freezing we would be talking about a whole different story with numbers. even though it's snowing all day, it will not accumulate all day. we advance this model to

2:30 p.m. and later in the afternoon hours when we expect the snow is to develop. we're seeing that look at 2:30 p.m. and varying rates 8:00 a.m. and then we start to see it pull out of here by midnight. it's been kind of slow to form in the predawn hours we didn't see a whole lot happening as we're seeing right now. it will take a while to fill into the region. it will snow all day into tonight. we expect one to two inches in the lehigh valley, 2 to 4 inches along the i-95 corridor. let's go in closer to the areas that will see the most. dover, bridgeton, millville, lakehurst, interior new jersey, 4 to 8 inches of snow. 2 to 4 along the coastline with the mixing. we're getting a couple of inches of snow along the i-95 area. the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast, snow today and cold. the snow will be slow to start,
