white stuff that has our attention right now. looking live now, it's snowing in much of the tristate area. by morning, we could have conditions that create a tough morning commute. it's wednesday night. the big story on "action news" tonight is an accuweather alert. let's get to cecily tynan with the latest from accuweather. what's the story? >> jim, double scan live showing the storm system has arrived and coming in two pieces. the center below is across the midwest right now. the first batch moving through currently. there is another batch swinging through the northern suburbs early tomorrow morning. some of this likely falling during the morning commute. right now, philadelphia in the height of the storm. you see the area of purple/pink, more rod rat moderate snow fall.

this is causing problems tomorrow morning depending on how quickly the crews can clear the roads. we have been at below zero 24 hours now. the roads are slippery. winter weather advisory in effect until 10:00 tomorrow morning. they have extended it, the national weather service into parts of south jersey for the potential for a coating to an inch of snow in areas up to the turnpike could see more than that. the first batch ending by 2:00 in the morning. it will be over south of philadelphia. that second batch rolling through areas to the north, 3:0. tomorrow morning, cars and sidewalks covered. we talk about how much in the seven-day forecast. >> "action news" reporter dann

cuellar is live at the penndot yard live in norristown. what's happening there? >> same song second verse. penndot crews are gearing up for a second snow event. within a couple of hours, hundreds of trucks are fanning out across the five county philadelphia region. they know the routine all too well at penndot. >> we treated all area highways anticipating this storm would snow overnight into thursday morning. >> already they are monitoring the forecast and worst case scenarios for the event. there are concerns because of the deep freeze like temperatures across the five county philadelphia region. >> the timing commute could be tricky. temperatures are really cold. we can expect the snow to stick this time around, not as slushy as last time around.

condition after being struck by an allegedly into intoxicated d. that happened on 64th. the 20-year-old female victim is a junior at st. joe's. "action news" was on scene as the driver was arrested for suspicion of driving while high on marijuana. >> new castle police say a 22-year-old man was shot tonight during a robbery. he was held up for his cellphone at 8:30 and shot in the back. investigators say three masked men ran from the 300 block of freedom trail. the victim is being treated for serious injuries. >> authorities are trying to determine what caused a blaze in swanksville mongo county. reporter christie ileto was live at the fire scene tonight. the emotional toll is extending beyond the family of the

house and senate are closing in on a final tax bill. word is the corporate tax rate will go from 35 to 21%. the top individual tax rate 39.6 to 37%. the mortgage interest deduction will be capp at $750,000. tax filers will be able to deduct up to $10,000 in state and local taxes. the bill will repeal the obama care individual mandate meaning 13,000,000 more americans will be without health insurance in the next decade. president trump says the plan will create jobs for the middle class. >> i heard one of the opponents say this is for the rich. they had no idea. they didn't see the final bill.

weeks. it registered 1.2 magnitude. the u.s. geological survey says at 12:45 a.m. the small quake struck outside of dover. not far from the biggest ever recorded in the diamond state since 1871. atlantic city's casino industry on the upstream headed into the holidays, winning $206 million from gamblers last month. it is evidence that atlantic city has stabilized one year after the trump taj mahal casino closed for good. they held a graduation for the fire academy students. they walked across the stage at bucks county community college and received their diplomas. 36 cadets are graduates of the

governor tina smith -- there she is, has been appointed to fill senator al franken's seat until the november election. she is expected to run in november's special election to fill out franken's term that goes until 2020. franken is quitting after eight allegations of misconduct. democrats are basking in the glow of the victory in the alabama special senate election. jones said it was gratifying that in this day and age in the state of alabama, people care about a message of inclusiveness, dignity and respect. roy moore became the first to lose the statewide race in alabama in 27 years. president trump said today that a lot of republics are happy with the way things turned out, but that as the leader of the party, he would have liked to
