with christie ileto. gray hall is off today. here's what we're following on "action news." a dangerous spot to be walking leads to a deadly encounter in delaware county. two key senators switch side when it comes to the republican tax bill pushing the gop a step closer to a legislative history. temple has fun in the snow before heading to sunny florida. we have cover annual of the owls football team. first we go outside to chris sowers digging out from the third snowfall of the season, right, chris? >> reporter: we are, we got two to three inches with last night's snow. most of the roads are clear, they are just wet. the crews did an amazing job of cleaning the roads. the secondary roads is a different story. i want to throw this out, the back roads heading into housing developments they are snow covered. we have icy patches and frozen

slush. take it easy, allow yourself extra time. look at the morning lows around the area. got down to 10 in millville. 10 in pottstown. allentown, 14 degrees for the morning low. wilmington, 18 degrees and philadelphia right here in the city, dropping all the way down to 21. factoring in the winds it still feels like the low to mid teens out here right now. 28 in philadelphia, 28 in allentown. 31 in millville. trenton, 25. only 20 degrees in the poconos. factoring in the winds feels like 9 in the mountains. if you're heading into the mountains to do skiing you need to bundle up in layers it's going to be cold up there this afternoon. feels like 17 in philadelphia. and 21 with the wind in wilmington. we have clouds and sun at times, i think it's main line cloudy throughout the first part of the day. you'll see more sun as the afternoon wears on. it will be breezy, high of 41.

with the wind it never feels close to 41 degrees. bundle up in layers if you're doing a last minute christmas shopping. don't forget the wind with the temperatures all day long stuck in the mid 30s. we'll focus on the warmer temperatures heading this way in the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast. >> pennsylvania state police are investigate a crash that killed a pedestrian in delaware county that happened on the ramp from southbound i-95 highland avenue in chester at 3:00 a.m. state police say the driver of the car that hit the victim did stop. so far no word on charges or why the victim was walk on the ramp. fire crews in montgomery county had to call for backup battling an early modern blaze. flames burned the home in upper providence township. everyone got out of the home safely. there's no word on what started the fire. a firefighter is recovering from minor injuries suffered at the scene of a different fire in montgomery county.

whochopper 6 hd was over the sce in bluebell. heavy smoke and flames broke out in the basement and spread. the cause is under investigation. from our delaware newsroom a state trooper was placed on administrative leave following a deadly shooting in wilmington. the state trooper conducted a traffic stop, the man drove off dragging the trooper with the vehicle, that's when the trooper opened fire killing the suspect. the trooper was treated for non-life threatening injuries. delaware state officials have agreed to pay $7.5 million to settle a prison riot lawsuit. 7 plaintiffs including the family of officer steve floyd will share the money. officer floyd was killed during the riot at the maximum security

lockout. republicans appear to be on the cusp of passing a huge historic tax bill by the end of the year. dave wright has the details on the late night progress to get the measure passed. >> reporter: republican lawmakers believe they have the votes needed to pass the biggest tax overhaul in a generation, the house and senate compromise bill more than a thousand pages long. >> i know everyone's lives will be better off under tax reform. >> republicans can afford to lose two votes in the senate and still have the measure passed with vice president mike pence breaking the tie. bob corker was the only republican to vote no on the initial senate bill insisting he couldn't support anything that adds to the detective city. now he has -- deficit. now he has come around. so has marko rubio and maine's

susan collins. the final bill is expected to add 1.5 trillion to the deficit slashing the corporate tax rate in half and doubling the standard deduction for those who don't itemize. the caps on some of the deductions will be lower. the tax bill is one of two big items on the president's radar. next week his lawyers are expected to meet face-to-face with special counsel robert mueller and his team a rarity. they hope that the probe into russian meddling and possible collusion by the trump campaign is nearing an end, not clear that mueller will oblige. >> there is absolutely no collusion, i never even made a phone call to russia. everybody knows.

>> reporter: jonathan carl pressed the president on whether he would consider pardoning his national security advisor who lied to the fbi and cooperating with the special counsel. >> michael flynn, would you consider a pardon for michael flynn. >> i don't want to talk about pardon for michael flynn yet. we'll see what happens. >> appears roy moore is not giving up even after he lost the special election for alabama's next senator. moore told supporters in an e-mail the battle is not over and asked for donations that will go toward an election integrity fund. he refused to concede to democrat doug jones. the campaign wants to check voter fraud before he this certify the vote. hollywood executives have created a new commission to fight sexual harassment and

investigators in new york have released this surveillance video the moment a man threw two molotov cocktails into a store. the man runs out of the store and hospitals on the motorcycle -- hops on a motorcycle with the driver to wisk him away. they say this attack was targeted. we're getting a better look at the damage caused by a strong earthquake that hit indonesia late friday. two people were killed and seven others injured. a school was badly damaged in the 6.35 magnitude earthquake, part of the buildings walls fell. it was felt 190 miles away in the capitol of jakarta. the thomas fire near los angeles is out of control and

growing larger. it is the 4th largest in california history and scorched 340 square miles. it caused damage to homes and crops. four fires lost their entire orchards of avacado trees. they estimate 100 acres of farm loonld was damaged by -- land was damaged by the lilac fire. deputies have created a calendar featuring their k-9s, the money raised will be help pay for the k-9's protective gear. looks like little murphy. >> reporter: i need to get that. cape may beach picked up a couple of inches of most of south jersey received 3 to 2 1/2

weather like any falling precipitation or anything like that, but the winds will be cold. 27 is what it will feel like in philadelphia, 15 in the poconos, 25 in reading. later this afternoon we're looking at upper 20s to low 30s, with high temperatures topping out in the upper 30s across the area. we get into the first part of tomorrow morning. it's a little bit better but fairly chilly with low windchill values of 38 degrees. that's the big story over the next 24, 36 hours. as we look at the radar there's a small little system over the great lake states, the snow machines will turn on erie and on -- ontario, and houron and maybe the poconos pick up a snow shower this afternoon, that's about it. 11:00 a.m., we're looking at a

sexual charges and is free on bail. a philadelphia sanitation worker could be arrested after being caught on video. he is accused of snatching a package from the home while on the job. a home surveillance camera shows city sanitation picking up recyclables. he takes a package from the home and grabs it and hides it and pulls it from under the trash. a neighborhood didn't want to be identified. >> their job is to take recyclables and the trash, not to take something from the person's porch. >> police did recover the stolen package, a pair of ugg boots. the victim said he doesn't want to see anybody go to jail over boots. an exchange between an nominee and senator is going

had three snows, these are the numbers, trevose, 9.8. philadelphia, 7.6. remember last year we had 15 inches for the entire winter. we picked up half of that in a week along. hammonton, 17.5 inches. we have two to three inches on the ground right now. temperatures are below freezing, so there's a lot of slick spots out there this morning, especially on the a second dear roads, sidewalks and things like that. we're dealing with bitter cold windchills ranging from nine in the poconos to 17 in philadelphia to 25 degrees in millville. a heads occupy this morning, the secondary -- a heads occupy this morning, secondary roads are icing, put a lot of space between you and the car in front of you, in case you have to jam on the brakes you don't slide into them. the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast, there's a huge warmup heading this way.
