sunshine it's a different story. center city already up to 35. glassboro32, 31 in smyrna. satellite and radar showing clouds quickly approaching from the west. we're expecting mostly cloudy skies today. we won't see any precipitation at least until the evening hours. the concern is overnight tonight as temperatures are kind of borderline. they're right there on the edge of that freezing mark. so any moisture that we do see overnight tonight could fall in the form of a wintry mix. in the meantime for today it's cloudy and chilly with a high of 41 degrees. once we get past that wintry mix, look what happens the jet stream retreats all the way up into canada. it takes all that cold arctic air with it. it gets balmy around here. temperatures are in the 50s, not once, not twice but three times this week. i'll have details coming up with that 7-day forecast in just a

few minutes. nydia? >> no arrests have been made yet in connection with the shooting in north philadelphia that injured two teenagers. the shots were fired just after 11:00 last night in the intersection of north 9th and west somerset after. a 17-year-old was shot in the leg and a 15-year-old boy suffered a wound to the abdomen. both were taken to temple university hospital where they are listed in stable condition. investigators found 12 spent cart trajs at the scene. a imagine is hospitalized after being shot in the eye. police say the uneye fiied man was walking just after 1:00 when he was shot. the man was rushed to the hospital where he underwent surgery. so far no arrests have been made and there's no word on what sparked the shoot zblg two masked man responsible for an armed robbery this morning. police say the men entered the story with an ka47 and demanded

money. it happened around 4:30 this morning. both men got away with an unknown amount of cash. no injuries were reported. >> this morning family members of a beloved dad and bartender who was hit and killed by a car are asking for the driver to turn himself or herself in. 46-year-old ronald williams of delaware county was hit on a ramp to i-95 in chester saturday morning. >> i just don't understand how somebody can hit somebody and keep on going. >> reporter: many in chester are wondering the same thing after state police say 46-year-old ronald williams, known as peabody was struck and killed by a hit and run driver. friends gathered outside the american legion where he was a member and bartender. >> come forward and speak up because you would want somebody to do this for your family member. >> reporter: police say williams stopped his vehicle for an unknown reason on the highland avenue ramp getting on to i-95

south in chester shortly before 3:00 a.m. he got out of his vehicle and a car hit him and kept going heading south on i-9 a5. kill wams was pronounced dead on the scene. police are looking for a newer black volkswagen like this one with front end and windshield damage. >> everybody is kind of hanging on to him. everywhere you go people drinking to him. it's sad. >> reporter: family members say they are hoping for closure and an arrest. >> he didn't deserve what happened to him and the person that did it, they know what they did so they should come and turn themselves in. >> reporter: many people have described williams as a hardworking father with a larger-than-line personality. anyone with information is asked to contact state police. reporting in chester, trish hartman, channel 6 action news. >> we now know the name of the man shot and killed by a

delaware state trooper in wilmington. police say 30-year-old adam radcliff was shot and killed when he attempted to drive away during a traffic stop friday afternoon. the 37-year-old trooper was dragged by radcliff's vehicle when the trooper opened fire. the trooper was treated for non-life threatening injuries. he has been placed on nonadministrative leave pending the outcome of investigation. >> money was stolen from a church and police are asking for help identifying the suspect. the theft happened back on december 3rd. video of the incident shows the man walking away from the scene after taking money that was raised during a fund raiser. if you do recognize this man you are asked to contact police. >> police have stepped up security for senator cory booker after he and his family received death threats. u.s. capitol police notified newark police about the death threat. as a result they sent security

to work at booker's home. newark's mayor also said the two police agencies are working together to make sure booker can do his job safely. >> special counsel robert mueller has obtained thousands of emails from center trump officials. trump's team says those emails were unlawfully attained. >> reporter: today the trump transition team is accusing the special counsel of illegally obtaining tens of thousands of private emails from the president's inner circle. this 7-page letter sent last night to key senate and house committee leaders by a lawyer for the transition is the latest effort to challenge robert mueller's investigation. >> they're spending millions and millions of dollars. there is absolutely no collusion. i didn't make a phone call to russia. i have nothing to do with russia. everybody knows it. >> reporter: the president himself has blasted that investigation as a witchhunt,

questioned the objectivity of some of its investigator and after lam basted the fbi itself. its reputation in taters, worst in history he said in one recent tweet. now the new letter raises concerns about career staffers about the agency that supplies acontusioning them by breaking the law by handing over to special counsel email, laptops, cell phones and other materials associated with top members of the presidential transition team. the materials produced included materials protected by the attorney-client privilege. the letter also accuses the staffers of circumventing the department's general counsel who was hospitalized and incapacitated at the time. some democrats from expressed concern that the president may be looking for a pretext to fire bob mueller. >> rumor on the hill was that the president was going to make

a significant speech at the end of next week. december 22nd when we are out of dc, he was going to fire robert mueller. >> the white house insists the president has no such plans and remains fully cooperative with the special counsel. >> some scary moments on a pennsylvania mountain that had a ski lift accident yesterday. the accident left skiers and snow boarders dangling about 25 feet in the air. the ski patrol rushed to their aid lowering many of them one by one with ropes. >> my jaw draped and i was like oh, my gosh and sat there for a while and watching the emergency personnel come up. >> it took more than an hour to get everyone down. five people suffered minor injuries and more than 100 people were stranded. the incident started when a

cover it acts like an atmospheric blanket that keeps the numbers a little bit milder. you factor in the breeze which really isn't all that strong, it's roughly westerly 5 miles per hour but it's good enough to drop the numbers down a little bit. it feels like 32 in trenton, 32 in wilmington. we're not going to be dealing with a gusty breeze. even though the temperatures are going to be on the chilly side we won't have to worry about harsh wind chills. we started out with just a sliver of sun this morning but now the clouds have quickly rolled in and you can see a little bit of moisture starting to pop up now across the ohio and tennessee valleys. one thing i've been explaining all morning, here's the good news. a lot of this is going to evaporate before it makes it into the delaware and lehigh valley. the air with the high is very dry. so as this moisture encounters that dry area of high pressure,

a lot just evaporates. there could be some moisture that falls overnight tonight but we're not looking at anything too terribly heavy. here's the good news if you don't like the cold weather. this little air mass was sitting right here yesterday morning. it's already retreating north up into canada and this is where things are going to start feeling better especially tomorrow and tuesday. we start tapping into some of the warmth. it's already 68 degrees in new orleans. all that air is lifting north over the next couple of days and we say good-bye to the 20s and 30s hello to the 40s and 50s. tuesday we could reach 56. some areas could get close to 60 degrees come tuesday afternoon. so here's future tracker 6. today it's mainly a cloudy day. that cloud cover limits the warming of the sun. and as we get close to the midnight hour tonight we'll start to see some moisture overspread the area and note the shades of blue. that's the model's way of depicting a wintry mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain and it's

mainly north and west of the delaware river. from philly south and east it looks like you'll be fine. north and west there could be slick spots out there first thing in the morning. as we get into the afternoon the skies begin to brighten and temperatures will respond nicely. for today mostly cloudy with a high of 41. overnight cloudy and chilly. this 29 is more like for temperatures in the lehigh valley and getting into the poconos, 34 for center city area south and east. spotty showers likely there. north of the pennsylvania turnpike this is what you have to watch out for. we're going to get into that brief period, maybe a 3 or 4-hour window, we'll see a light wintry mix, perhaps some snow flakes or sleet pellets with temperatures close to freezing or slightly below that there could be icy patches. from the city south and east you're fine, north and west watch out first thing tomorrow morning. 41 chilly today. here comes the warm-up monday. 47, big-time warm-up for

morning, if you are preparing for the new year and making plans to hit the gym early in the morning in 2018, there are things you can do to help yourself getting into a routine. eating lean protein and healthy veggies and fats help you wake up refreshed. limit your cell phone, computer and tv use before bed and look forward to the morning like a play list. men have been criticized for overreacting when sick. but according to a doctor in canada man flu, it's a real thing. men's immune systems are not as strong. the doctor also looked at studies that show women tend to be more responsive to vaccines that protect against the flu. >> a new study found that nearly one child dies every month and two are injured every day in window blind related incidents. from 1990 to 2015 nearly 17,000

children younger than six were treated in emergency rooms for window blind-related injuries. the most common injuries involved being hit by a window blind but entanglement was associated with more than 94% of the deaths during that period.

of the nature. arctic in nature to the polar vortex. scenario number one says the east coast is warm, all that cold air holds off to the west, but scenario number two which has shown up on the last several runs shows that cold arctic air pressuring the boundary layer down to the south across the carolinas and that's important because if this is true, an area of low pressure moves into the cold air and it could be snow for most of the atlantic on christmas day. the other scenario if that mild air holds true, it forces everything farther to the north, the cold air doesn't get here in time, and all of a sudden it's not snow, it's rain. there is a shird scenario that it shows the cold air pressing so far down to the south that it takes the low and pushes it out to sea. a lot of christmass we don't even have a chance of seeing a white christmas. any given year the probability of a white christmas in philadelphia is only 8%. i'm going to bump that up to 30%

>> plus we are in the single digits in the countdown to christmas. >> and good news for holiday shoppers we are warming up this week. we turn to meteorologist chris sowers for the welcome news in accuweather. >> mother nature is going to lend a helping hand here. it's not always aad thing to have a warm-up right before christmas. it allows you to get everything you immediate to get done. temperatures are already warmer than they were yesterday. 7-10 degrees warmer for the i-95 corridor in places like toms

river and atlantic city. that means no teens and 20s this morning. we're seeing 30s across the bod. reading and allentown 31, millville 34 and they're freezing in trenton, 32 degrees. looking at the satellite and radar, we have a lot of clouds overhead right now and that's going to prevent the temperatures from climbing today. maybe we get as high as 39-41. that should be the range in high temperatures today. that's about it. but tomorrow once the front pushes through, we clear this cloud deck and temperatures start taking off. especially tuesday. monday is nice, but tuesday is ridiculous with a high of like 56 degrees. so for today turning cloudy and it's still chilly with a high of 41. yesterday we hit 42. the normal for this time of the year is 44. when i come back in a few minutes we'll focus more on the possibility of a little bit of a wintry mix for areas north and west of philadelphia overnight tonight. all those details plus the warm-up in the accuweather 7-day forecast. >> two people and a dog had to be rescued from a burning home

overnight. firefighters responded to the 5800 block just after midnight. crews rescued a 63-year-old woman in a wheel chach and a 66-year-old man from a home. the family dog was also rescued from the second floor. the red cross is helping a total of four people who were displaced by the blaze. what sparked the fire remains under investigation. it is unclear if a driver will face charges after crashing into parked cars. police responded around 4:00 this morning. the driver of a nissan altima lost control and hit the other vehicles before rolling on to its side. the driver was treated for minor injuries. no word on what caused the driver to lose control of that nissan. >> a delaware county bartender was hit and killed on his way home from work. police are searching for the driver responsible. pennsylvania state police say 46-year-old one ald williams stopped his vehicle on the i-95 ramp shortly before 3:00

saturday morning. they say when williams got out of his vehicle a car hit him and just drove away. williams was pronounced dead at the scene. his family has a message for the driver who hit him. >> you have to live with this knowing that you ran a father, a brother, a uncle, a nephew, you just ran him over and kept on going. so we're just asking you to just do what's right in the sight of god to come and turn yourself in. >> reporter: police say the striking vehicle is a newer model black volkswagen with front end and windshield damage. a man was shot and killed in the wissinoming session in philadelphia and police are searching for the gun man. the 30-year-old victim was found last night. they say he was shot in the chest and arm. he was taken to temple university hospital where he later died. >> 9:33 on this sunday morning. turning now to the massive wildfire that has been tearing through southern california for

nearly two weeks. the thomas fire is now the third largest in california history torching more than 267,000 acres. abc's marcy gonzalez with the latest. >> reporter: this relentless wild fire is exploding in southern california. more than 10,000 acres burning just since friday. flames like a glowing gash cutting through the hillside, threatening homes, forcing 16,000 new mandatory evacuations. weather conditions creating a huge challenge for firefighters as we saw firsthand. the major concern out here is the wind. you can see just how strong it is gusting right you no carrying these flames. >> those gusts reaching 65 miles per hour. more than 267,000 acres charred since the thomas fire started nearly two weeks ago and it is still spreading fast.

>> among those forced from the homes, actor rob lowe posting these pictures on instagram of flames creeping alarmingly close and oprah winfrey tweeting still praying for our little town. katy perry's brother evacuating, the california native tweeting playing for the first responders that are fighting it back more than 8,000 fire personnel from 12 states battling the ininferno. working tirelessly to save homes and lives. exhausted but optimistic to hoping that this could be the home stretch. >> we're hoping. >> reporter: but the winds are expected to pick up again in this area on wednesday and many of those firefighters are planning to be out here until after christmas. >> special counsel robert

mueller's investigators have gained access to thousands of emails sent and received by president trump before he took office. many of the emails include national security discussions about possible trump international aims but the investigators did not request the records from trump's transition group. instead the emails came from general services administration, a separate federal agency. members of the transition group have argued that the gsa was unauthorized to give the emails to the investigators. >> our community continues to come together to support a family that lost two sons in a house fire in montgomery county last week. they set up a gift wrapping station at philadelphia premium out lets to raise money for the family. players said they wanted to do whatever they could to help even if it means making sacrifices. >> we had it set up for the girls for them to go to disney and all of them agreed to donate

millions of dollars researching the possible existence of ufos. the $22 million advanced threat identification program began in 2007. the defense department has never before acknowledged the program. pentagon officials say it shut down back in 2012.

the good news is even though the temperatures are chilly, there's not much of a breeze out there. so we're not dealing with harsh wind chills. you can see several locations reporting a calm wind speed. satellite and radar showing clouds moving overhead. these clouds aren't going to allow that cold air to escape out into space. what we're watching is this moisture here, temperatures on the cooler side and moisture rolling in overnight tonight it could be a little bit of an issue north of the pennsylvania turnpike with frozen precipitation and i'll show you that on future tracker here in a moment. cold air pulling away but it's still close enough to keep this moisture in the form of sleet, rain and snow overnight tonight. cold arctic high dominating the pattern, it's still in control. it's almost like opening the door if you will to a different air mass and this time around it's not arctic, it's out of the south. this is going to start warm us

up. winds begin to shift out of the southwest. this front here washes out. the whole week just looks beautiful temperature-wise. here's future tracker 6:00, cloudy skies for just about everybody, and overnight tonight it's dry through the evening hours and right about midnight it looks like this model just updated now, we'll see a little bit of shower activity, perhaps a brief period of drizzle something like that throughout parts of the area and you can see these blues starting to pop up. there's going to be pockets of colder air where as that precipitation falls, it could be sleet, freezing rain or snow. once we get past let's say the mid point of the morning commute tomorrow and everything clears, the skies open up a little bit, sun and clouds during the afternoon it turns out to be a nice day. the high tomorrow is like 47 or 48. 41 in philadelphia, unner 30s north and west underneath the

cloudy sky. minimumville 45, cape may 46. the concern tonight will be for areas of freezing drizzle or perhaps some sleet or snow flakes flying around. mainly north and west of the delaware river. as far as the accumulation area, it's going to be this area here. pennsylvania turnpike is here, lehigh valley is up here. if there's going to be an accumulation it's going to be in this area. reading and berks county and northern portions of the lehigh valley. everybody else should steer clear of any kind of frozen precipitation overnight. becoming cloudy today, chilly with a high of 41. monday clouds, some sun but it's much milder with a high of 47. it's been quite some time since we've been up to 47 and look at tuesday. we easily surpass that number, 56 degrees for the high. cold front sneaks in wednesday cools us down to 45. thursday chilly as well and friday and saturday we start

especially on tuesday where some locations quite honestly could get close to 60 degrees. all the snow that you see behind me, this is all going to melt. temperature-wise, with that said it's pretty chilly north and west. we're still below freezing in some places. pottstown you're sitting athe freezing mark, center city 37, and media checking in at 34. 40 in tuck hoe, 45 in vineland. and glassboro showing 35 degrees. lots of clouds rolling in overhead and we are expecting mostly cloudy skies throughout the day. if you look towards the lower left-hand part of your scene, we're starting to see specs of green pop up. the weather pattern is going through a change and we're getting rid of the colder air and the atmosphere doesn't like that. it squeezes out whatever moisture is left over. so we could see a little bit of frozen precipitation during that

the shots were fired just after 11:00 last night in the intersection of north niirnt and we somerset avenue. a 17-year-old was shot in the leg and a 15-year-old suffered a graze wound to the abdomen. both were taken to temple university hospital where they are listed in stable condition. investigators found 12 spent cartridges at the scene. a man was hospitalized this morning after being shot in the eye overnight. police say the unidentified man was w1:00 this morning when he was shot. hospital.sto penn so far no arrests have been made. >> philadelphia police are searching for two masked men wh robbery at a kensington 7-11 this morning. police say the men th with ana rifle and demanded money. it happened around 4:30 this morning.

the headlines look like this. mostly cloudy skies this afternoon. there could be a light period of a wintry mix north and west of philadelphia late this evening and into the first part of the hoefr night and we're warming up. the reason why we're getting that wintry mix because the atmosphere is warming aloft so it's squeezing out whatever moisture is left over. 32 degrees in allentown. it's 37 in philadelphia, millville 39 and dover checking in at 41 degrees. the normal high for this time of the year is 44. we should top out somewhere around 40 or 41. it's going to be the ninth or tenth day with temperatures below seasonal averages. breaks down to the south, it looks like they're seeing mostly sunny conditions in places like dover and georgetown. more clouds are on the way and even some precipitation across

kentucky. none of that gets in here today. it's mostly cloudy with peeks of sun through south the afternoon. it's right around the midnight hour is when we start to see a couple of showers push through. it starts working its way into that colder air sitting north of the pennsylvania turnpike. from midnight on you can see these blues showing up, a little bit of wintry-type precipitation. it could be sleet, freezing rain, snow flakes mixing in. and it could be with temperatures close to 32 degrees if not colder, there could be some icy patches in through here. from philly south and east everybody is clear. there could be some slick spots tomorrow morning. and by afternoon and tomorrow evening everything looks good. things start to brighten up a little bit and we'll see the return of some sunshine and milder temperatures. mostly cloudy and chilly for today. 41, not much of a breeze out of the north and 5-10 miles per hour. so the 41 for the most part will feel like 41 degrees. and then overnight tonight for

philadelphia points south and east, a spotty shower is possible, maybe some patchy drizzle. other wise a cloudy night, 29 in places like bethlehem and allentown. this 34 is for philadelphia and the immediate surrounding suburbs. getting into that little period of frozen precipitation north of the pennsylvania turnpike here temperatures are close to the freezing mark of 32. anything that does fall in the form of sleet or freezing rain it's going to stick. therefore there could be icy patches out there first thing tomorrow morning all of this precipitation clears, which i do want to point out it's not going to be much to begin with. but all of it clears by 7:00 a.m. or so tomorrow morning. and then here comes the pattern change. right now we're still holding on to the colder air. it will turn much, much milder as we head into the new workweek as the jet stream lifts all the way up here to the u.s.-canadian border and here comes christmas eve. this is the cold air that's going start pressing. here's your jet stream right here. and this is really, really cold.
