breaking news. police are searching for a drive their hit a man with his car and took off on foot. the suspect's car wound up on someone's front lawn after striking the victim. it happened after 9:30 this morning near the intersection of ogontz avenue. and the man was said to be stable as he was rushed to the hospital. chad pradelli has more on the search for the driver coming up. and now the deadly redei railment in washington state. right now at least three people are confirmed dead with dozens more injured. >> reporter: rick and sara, just behind me you see the overpass where the train derailed and authorities brought in a massive crane and they are removing the train cars and opening to reopen

>> i saw someone was catapulted from the train on to the ground. >> the eagle scout sprang into action. >> there were injured people walking all over the place in shock and i was like dude, someone needs to like be a leader and organize, and even web people are pinned under the train, i grabbed the dudes hand and rubbing his back and i was like, just talking to him. >> authorities are questioning why positive train control was not activated. it was like auto pilot and could slow down the train moving too fast. >> it was put in place but for some reason it was not in use. channel 6 "action news." new developments from the nation's capital where both chambers of congress are expected to vote on tax reform. top republicans believe they have enough votes to pass the plan and once the house approves

the senate is expected to follow suit and if they survive potential challenges the president could sign the bill as early as tomorrow. police in burlington county are trying to figure out what caused the deadly crash and multiple people were killed when an suv slammed into a utility pole in tabernac tabernacle. john rawlins is live now. >> reporter: you see behind me electric crews work on the utility pole that was damaged by the crash and keeping a small school facility closed because of the lack of power. 24 hours later and little information is confirmed. there were initial reports that there was a police pursuit prior to the crash and police are still not confirming. >> we know that the big gmc hit around the utility pole. that supports the reports of

traveling in exeggsive 80 miles per hour prior to impact. >> they cannot confirm that or if the vehicle was stolen, also unclear is the gender of those killed in the crash. multiple sources told "action news" last night it was two adult males and a pregnant teen. a law enforcement source said today it was two women and a male that died. >> so at this point we are waiting on authorities to release the i.d. and ages of the victims as well as clarify what may have occurred prior to the crash. >> john, thank you. traffic is moving again on the westbound pennsylvania turnpike after this multivehicle crash and that the collision happened near bensalem and involved a dump truck and a tractor trailer and at least three other cars. it took three hours to clean up the mess and the highway was back open by 9:00 a.m. >> well, the calendar may say

december 19th but the temperature outside is anything but frightful. we have another mild day in store sky 6 hd showing you the ben franklin bridge and parts of penn's landing at lunch time and a bit breezy and for today we can put away the heavy winter coats and keeple umbrella close by just in case. david murphy has a check of the tuesday morning forecast. >> nice day building across the region, you saw on sky 6 hd the sunshine in play ain sprinkle earlier this morning and that is long gone and the numbers are starting to respond and up to 56 in philadelphia and 58 in wilmington and in allentown a bit cooler and 51 degrees there and 55 in trep ton and 54 in millville and 50 in cape may. as we go through the rest of the afternoon, 57 by 2:00 and 58 by 3:00 and then back to 56 by 4:00, a chance we clear out a bit and get more sunshine in play later on.

47 by 8:00 and by 10:00 not bad for this time of year, 45 degrees. christmas son the horizon and everybody is thinking well what is it going to be this year? historically there say chance for a white christmas here. 7.9%. this year right now it doesn't look higher. there is an active pattern setting up but more likely wet than white. but there is a mass of cold air coming in the day after and should that speed up a bit we could change the forecast. keep your eyes on the forecast for now though mild. and right now we get questions on social media, christmas past in philadelphia. the last time we had a trace of snow on december 25th, was 2010 and the last time an inch was 1969. and the last time a foot was 166

fire officials are renewing their warning about the dangers of toys with lithium ion batteries. that a toy lit a fire at an apartment complex causing

$100,000 in damage. four different families were displaced before the holidays and thankfully nobody was hurt. to prevent them from happening again the experts recommend keeping the toys away from a heat source or combustibles like clothing or paper. and a family escaped their burning home thanks to a smart door bell. mike and his wife and daughter were asleep when the fire broke out next to their driveway and the high tech security system featured a motion detector trill twiggered by the fire. everybody was able to get out unharmed. a hotel customer was hit with a higher bill because she left a bad review about her

stay. they say they found the woman smelly and dirty when they checked in. and we checked the sheets and bed and i found hairs and dirt and i was not crazy about that, i was disgusted. >> after posting a negative review on line the couple receive aid $350 charge for the hotel and promptly contacted state authorities and the attorney general's office file aid lawsuit accusing the hotel of violating state law. a woman that works at a dallas nonprofit made a discovery. they found four envelopes containing $15,000. in a jacket donated. it belonged to her late husband and was struggling and had no idea it was there. she gave the woman a $1,000

a new report says that people that live in new jersey or delaware got hit with the most spam calls in the entire nation. those two states had the highest density spam call complaints in 2017. pennsylvania was in the middle at 25 on the list and overall there were 7 million complaints about calls that violated the do not call registry double the number from 2015. health check at noon, a new study tells that people allergic to eggs can get the flu shot. until now those with allergies to eggs, were told to get a different vaccine. the study published today found the vaccine safe for people with

an egg allergy no matter how severe. having a social life could help you reduce your chances of developing a type two diabetes. socially isolated people were less likely to be diagnosed with the condition. still unclear what causes the connection maybe a difference in activity levels or eating habits. good news for people that like coffee and beer, you can now have both at the same time. dunkin' donuts has teamed up with a brewery to release dedark roasted brew. the new driven makes its debut on thursday to mark the start of the winter solstice. you'll have to travel to new england to get a taste. only available at select stores in massachusetts. the "action news" team is out working on news stories for today at 4:00.

we said this morning have picked up now as we are past sunrise and 17 miles per hour and could see a gust 25 to 30 miles per hour today and breezy and on the mild side. 53 in reading and 53 in wilmington and 55 in trenton and cape may, new jersey, 53 on the nose. these are the sustained winds, 17 in philadelphia and 16 in wilmington and 16 in reading and the gusts begin to built in as well and over the next several hours you'll feel them get more blustery. satellite showing you there was cloud cover and broken out with some sun mixing with clouds and a pretty day. and fairly bright conditions out there and clouds up a bit in the day. and generally speaking most of you will be bright and want your sunglasses. and lehigh valley clouds and sun and breezy. 50 is the high. and down the the shore 59 is the high with a mix of clouds and

sun and breezy there as well. and philadelphia a high of 58 degrees and mix of clouds and sun and winds again gusting as high as 31 miles per hour. and tonight clouds and brisk and cool and down to 40 in philadelphia that is not bad, but out lying suburbs could get close to the freezing mark. and today's high 56 and 12 degrees above average and clouds and sun and tonight the front comes through dry and won't trigger precipitation but behind it tomorrow the chillier. 45 degrees and winds running 8 to 16 miles per hour. cool again on thursday as well. we are not looking for rain for a while and if you have not gotten around to washing the car a couple of rounds of it next week today is not a bad day to do it. either late friday perhaps holding off until saturday. breezy and nice today. high of 58 and cooler and still breezy and a high of 45 degrees and thursday lots of sun and

chilly and appropriately so, that is the arrival of winter officially at 11:28, 41 is the cooler high the coolest day of the seven-day forecast. on friday a warm front coming back at us and sun in the morning and increase in clouds and better high of 50. and the chance of some rain and probably not until late at night and could hold off until saturday morning. and then on saturday, milder and a high of 61 degrees and not a washout and times you get out and enjoy that higher number and the chance of spotty drizzle and rain on saturday. then we move into christmas eve and now calling it cloudy and rain possibly arriving late at night and a high of 49 degrees, as we get into the sunday, monday period keep your eyes on the forecast. changing the shifting with the models and christmas day cloudy and rain, high of 50 and i will tell you right after christmas. we have got cold air rushing in and the forecast for tuesday right now is possibly a high in
