would want to or feel they had to kill a man of that age. it is tuesday night. the big story on "action news" is the philadelphia p.d. searching for a cold-blooded killer. annie mccormick is live at police headquarters with the latest on this. annie? >> jim, at this hour, police have no motivate and no suspects. they hope for tips to come in from the community. the 85-year-old was not only loved by his family but also by the people in his close-knit neighborhood. >> i had to find my father today. >> kimberly vaughan made the horrifying discovery inside her father's north philadelphia row home. willie cooper was found in the basement stabbed around 20 times. vaughan spoke to her father

daily. she grew concerned not hearing from him today. >> i felt in my heart and i should check on him and i came and found him. >> crime scene investigators spent hours at the scene after medics pronounced him dead after 3:00 p.m. there was forced entry into the basement and police believe it happened some time today. nothing appears to have been taken. >> for someone to go in and kill him like this, i'm in shock. i don't believe it. >> neighbors and family describe cooper as having a big personality and a big heart. the 85-year-old army receipt tren waveteran wasa great grand. the family wants answers. >> he would help everyone in the community. >> we want to know why you did

been drag racing or road rage or both. >> we are keeping our eye on the u.s. senate expected to vote on the tax reform bill within the next half hour or so. passage in the senate is virtually assured with only arizona jeff flake undecided. john mccain is home in arizona but all other republics are expected to vote yes. that would carry the day. no democrats would vote for the tax bill. they call it a sellout to doan os, big corporations and the wealthiest americans. the house thought they passed the bill but a glitch will necessitate another vote tomorrow. kenneth reports. >> we are confident this will work and we'll take the argument to the american people next fall. >> this bill is a tax scam that will rob middles class families to pay for corporate tax breaks. >> the house passed the bill but

bandits. dann cuellar is live on the 1,000 block of oakwood drive in darby tonight. dan? >> jim, making deliveries for amazon is increasingly becoming a dangerous business. this time thieves targeted a woman making deliveries for amazon in darby township leaving her so shaken she can't remember what they look like. >> the 1,000 block in darby township is colorfully decorated for christmas. hearing what happened is the last thing people expected. >> i'm shocked and amazed. this is one of the best streets in the neighborhood. >> last night about 8:30 a driver subcontracted driving a u-haul was robbed. >> my kids play. they were out here playing basketball. i said we have to go drop my truck off so we left and came back and saw the cops up the street. >> the woman driver told police she knew something was up when she noticed she was being

followed a mile away. >> made a call to the boss. eventually, they cut her off, jumped out, put a gun to her and took boxes from the truck. >> what's unclear is how the men knew the woman in the u-haul was making deliveries for amazon. >> the only thing she could remember was that it was a dark vehicle. >> they took her phone. she drove around until she found someone to dial 911 for her. >> this is not an isolated incident. there are several reports of am donamazon drivers being robbed d in some cases their entire loads stolen. in this case they are thankful the delivery driver is safe. >> you have toe watch your back. this is a quiet neighborhood for something like that to happen. >> so far police have not been able to tack down surveillance

video. they are asking anyone with information helpful to call darby police or call 911. dann cuellar, channel6 "action news." >> we have breaking news from bristol br bristol borough bucka deadly hit and run. a bicyclist was hit and killed minutes before 8:00 in the mb northbound lanes. the victim was hit by a silver mercedes van that fled the scene. the vehicle will have front end damage and anyone with information is asked to call police. >> a middle school teacher is being accused of assaulting a student for three years.

police are asking anyone with information or other potential victims to please, come forward. authorities in delaware county are looking for this bank robber who used a gun and threatened he had a bomb. the bandit left a suspicious device behind. after fleeing the savings bank on the 900 block of township. the bomb squad was called to investigate. this just in, construction on a middle school is back on after the school board voted to stop the project. the project was approved by the prior school board of directors. the current board stopped the project earlier this month because of concern to cost to taxpayers. tonight the same board voted 5-4 to reverse the decision.

heading toward the weekend, i'm tracking mild air to start the weekend, very warm saturday, wet, colder air arriving for christmas. will it arrive with snow? i have details in the seven-day forecast. jim? >> thank you, cecily. >> tonight the transportation safety board is looking into what it calls situational awareness, a factor in yesterday's deadly amtrak train derailment in the state of washington. investigators believe the train's engineer may have been distracted by the presence of an employee in training next to him. the train was moving 80 miles per hour in a 30 miles per hour zone. >> the emergency brake was automatically activated when the accident was occurring, rather than being initiated by the engineer. >> three premature were killed. a hundred others were injured when the train plunged off the
