philadelphia. it was a pra prelude to tragedye crash of two vehicles, one containing an eight-year-old boy. they rushed the boy to st. christopher's hospital by ambulance. if anyone could save him, they could, but they couldn't. >> traffic tragedy on the streets of philadelphia. "action news" reporter dann cuellar is live at the accident division. dan, you have the details. >> that's right, jim. police say the investigation is active and ongoing in the accident. disturbing developments have come to light since our report at 6:00. >> this video was taken minutes after the accident at jericho and monaco. neighbors rush today help the boy and his 28-year-old father

who was driving. >> i went over there and tried to talk to the boy telling him to hold on. he just started making noise like he can't breathe. >> he was bad. >> police say the father was traveling eastbound on whitacre attempting to turn on to jericho when the car was struck by the driver of a minivan going at a high rate of speed swerving in and out of the lane before the accident. he stopped to check the damage to his van and got back in and left. he's claiming he suffered a diabetic event. police say that doesn't explain why he fled the scene. >> the eight-year-old was rushed to st. christopher hospital where he later died. his father was complaining of chest pains.
