15 minutes or so. getting into deptford arena mount holly. we're posting 59. several forecast models have us as warm as 61 to 63. cloudy skies and occasional rain. it will be breezy. we'll see winds 10 to 20 miles per hour. the numbers crash. that 60 degrees occurs around 5:00 p.m. and then the cold front slams through by 8:00 p.m. we're down to 48. 11:00 p.m. 40 degrees, just about everybody wakes up to temperatures close to freezing or maybe a couple of degrees above the freezing mark if i think tomorrow morning. checking the major hubs across the mid atlantic and the northeast. actually most of the eastern has half of the united states. there are no travel days in places like boston, chicago or atlanta. that will change as the storm system gets cranking this afternoon. you may want to check ahead with your carrier.

year than last year, because average price of gas is 20 cents more a gallon. get traffic and weather updates at your fingers on 6abc app. a four-year-old girl is hospitalized after she was shot in southwest philadelphia. police say the shots were fired 5900 block of springfield avenue after 11:00 p.m. the girl's father was holding her when the man approached her and opened fire. the child was hit in the leg she was taken to children's hospital in philadelphia. she is in stable condition this morning. the gunman ran from the scene. no word on a motive. out of the city of chester an 18-year-old was shot and killed in the 3100 block of west 9th street. police responded to the reports of gunshots around 1:20 a.m. at the scene they found julian deshield with gunshot wounds to the back. no word of a motive in this

case. we are learning about what happened in the nine hour standoff in north hampton county. officers responded to deny nis nis -- dennis street around 1:00 p.m. after reports of a woman laying in the front yard. when they officers arrived, 36-year-old justin kepert opened fire on them. residents were told to shelter in place, nearly nine hours later, troorpd entered the -- troopers entered the home and found him dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. police shot and killed a gunman who shot and killed during a shootout with local and

state police. he was armed with two handguns, they have not released a motive, the trooper suffered non-life threatening injuries. now to the incredible story out west where an alleged terror plot was foiled. the fbi arrested everitt aaron jameson planning an attack on fisherman's wharf a popular tourist area and planning to do it on christmas day. he was inspired by isis and deadly terror attack in new york city. his father said he was shocked when he learned of his son's plan. >> it kills me to know that he would do something like that. that's not how he was raised. investigators say jamison described himself as a muslim convert saying this will make me

more useful, i can blend in. fbi found firearms and handwritten martyrdom note specifically mentioning president trump. miss america organization suspended its ceo after inappropriate e-mails about contestants were made public. the e-mails relate to the handcuffing -- huffington post. 49 miss americas called for him to step down. dick clark cut ties with the organization after learning about the e-mails several months ago. several people remembered willie cooper who was found stabbed to death inside his home. he was found inside his home december 20th. police are searching for the killer and the murder weapon. during the vigil before

>> new metal barers -- barriers are protecting pedestrians on the las vegas strip. they atlantic planning to put out 8,000 of them next year after a woman drove her car into the crowd on the sidewalk. chrysler said the problem with the ram pick jump could make it possible for the driver to shift the truck out of park.

at least seven people have been injured. chrysler is aware of a small number of related accidents. it impacts ram trucks with the shifters on the steering column made between 2009 and this year. a christmas display in a bolder colorado neighborhood has prompted calls to 911. this is not the homeowner dangle from the roof as he hangs christmas decorations. it's a dummy, you can see the ladder tipped away, too, police and paramedics rushed to the home with the reports of a neighbor in trouble. at least they care, right. the home owner behind the prank said he did it out of pure madness. >> boxes of lights, they are all tangled it takes forever to untangle them.

we had first round excuse me of rain pushed through earlier this morning for south jersey and delaware, but that has since cleared. we're seeing dry conditions there. this rain is in the process of pushing through now. gibbs town woodbury, cherry hill, all this is shifting east 20 miles per hour. east of the delaware river you'll see more rain here shortly. malvern, west chester getting wet norristown into the lehigh valley. periods of rain and some of it is steady. we're seeing darker shades of green and yellows popping up now traveling north along the northeast extension. once you get past the tunnel it's coming down steadily. this is the area here that could see an accumulation of snow christmas morning. i'll talk about that in a second. 45 in philadelphia. dewpoint, 43. wind out of the east at 5. the pressure is falling. visibility, 2 miles in reading.

mild today not feeling like christmas. 60 degrees down the jersey shore. some areas could be warmer than that. cloudy skies, rain expectinged. philadelphia 59. poconos rain at times, some of it could be heavy. 42 degrees in the mountains. watch how the temperatures drop off with the approaching cold front. 2:00 p.m., upper 50s across the i-95 corridor setting up to 60 to 62 by 6:30 p.m. look what happens behind the front, all of a sudden we drop about 20. 42 in lancaster. 11:30 p.m. everybody drops into the 30s, first thing tomorrow morning remember we're waking up in the mid to upper 40s right now. tomorrow morning it's closer to the freezing mark with a little bit of a windchill to deal with. the arctic hammer drops as we head into next week. here's philadelphia right here, we're seeing extremely cold temperatures. actually let me show you this first. look at the temperatures up in northern canada, 20 to

a driver is killed after his car overturned at fairmont park. a lot of people are heading out this week, rain in the forecast, will the weather cooperate. officials say expect to wait 3 times longer to get where you are going. let's go outside to chris sowers with the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast. >> reporter: good morning, alicia, good morning everybody, let's go over to storm tracker we have another round of rain pushing through. here comes the next around 3:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m. on and off rain expected throughout the day. northeast philadelphia looks like you're seeing rain. jenkintown, willow grove area, malvern, exton, norristown seeing light rain. philadelphia, center city, light rain, as well.

south of philadelphia international looks like the rain has temporarily shut off, but again more moisture is waiting in the wings. the call from accuweather today, damp and cloudy with rain at times. 59 degrees is the forecasted high. several forecast model actually have us warmer than that. there's a couple of models that have us as warm as 63:10 a.m., 49. lunchtime, 54. you can see how the numbers jump. 2:00 p.m. we're closing in on 60. we'll hold steady around 60 degrees from 2:00 p.m. on. it isn't until 7:00 p.m., 8:00 p.m. when the cold front slams through and then the numbers crash. for today, a quarter to a half inch of rain expected. as the front passes it turns sharply colder overnight tonight. remember we're waking up to temperatures around 40. 24 hours from now we'll be waking up to temperatures around freezing with a bluster windchill. a front moves in christmas eve night into the morning of

get weather and traffic updates at your finger tips anytime anywhere you are. 7:35 a.m., new this morning, a man has died after crashing his van in camden county overnight. police say the man was speeding in a white van when he lost control and hit a pickup truck when it was parked in a driveway on davis town road in gloucester county. the driver was rejected scz body body -- and his body hit a tree. he was pronounced at the scene. a driver had to be rescued from a crash in fairmont park section. the driver lost control and drove off conshohocken avenue near falls street around 2:30 a.m. the vehicle rolled on to its side. fire crews removed the driver and transported him to temple hospital for non-life threatening injuries. a nearly nine hour standoff in north hampton county ended last night and place in shelter

tomorrow, the pattern changes and by christmas day we're talking about windchills in the 20s. enjoy the 60s this afternoon. storm tracker 6 live showing leftover moisture. this is the first round coming through. off to the west, all the moisture has to come in still. 0 most of south jersey is dry, but it will sneak in the next 15, 20 minutes or so. here's upper bucks, quakertown, the northeast extension into the tunnel. looks like there's rain through here, some of it is steady as indicated by the darker shades of green, it extends west through pottstown and reading and hershey and harrisburg, actually. this will continue on and off throughout the day. as we go wider, the general movement this will clear, once the front clears the area, temperatures will skyrocket, i mean jump. ten degrees or so within an hour or two which will get us close

to 60 degrees 1:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m., here comes more moisture later on. 59 degrees, that's the forecasted high. some of us could hit 61, 62. the normal 43. we started out warmer than the normal high. our high was 45. 51 in atlantic city. future tracker, this is the kind of of day to checking account clouds and fog and rain. mild temperatures, midday, 51 in philadelphia. 55 in wildwood. later this evening, here comes the cold front. temperatures plummet behind the front. 43 by 6:30 p.m. in reading. afternoon high of 60, 61. philadelphia, 63. you can see how the temperatures drop off. first thing tomorrow morning, the 40s we're seeing replaced by the 30s. reading, 34. tomorrow we wake up with sunshine increase the clouds
