about. looking live at our sky6 live hd i-95. no major backups, though, aaa says 97 million people nationwide will be traveling between now and christmas day. once again today's warm weather brought out last minute shoppers checking out final items on the christmas list. this is volume in cherry hill mall. i've seen worse on the day before christmas eve. today is super saturday which is the second busiest shopping day of the year behind black friday. super saturday or the saturday before christmas result in 36% increase in foot traffic in stores compared to a regular saturday. imagine having to evacuate the mall during getting the christmas shopping done. it happened in springfield mall.

>> reporter: everything seems to be business as usual you would never know that the mall had to be evacuate a few hours ago because of a small fire at a pizza place on the second busiest shopping day of the year. let's look at the video we shot. fire officials say it started at 3:30 p.m. when a minor fire broke out in the pizza oven in the kitchen was brought under control. smoke poured in the mall, forcing an evacuation. five companies responded and fans were brought in to clear out the smoke. officials say the mall reopened within 30 minutes when it happened. hundreds were standing outside when the process was happening. the battalion chief said the holiday spirit was in play, because shoppers were orderly and patient during the vac ways. things appear to be back to normal at the springfield mall.

holiday hours are in effect so the mall is open until 11:00 p.m. tonight. trish hartman channel 6 "action news." >> back to normal, thank you, trish. we have breaking news in delaware where a person was killed and two others injured in a head on crash involving two vehicles. it happened at delaware park boulevard and fair play boulevard on the grounds of the racetrack and casino. it's not clear how it happened. state police are on the scene piecing together what happened. a water main break look at that, created a headache for people in northern liberties. the main broke at 11:00 a.m. at front and girard. there was water all over the place making a mess of things affecting ten homes and businesses. residents of three properties will have to suspend the nice elsewhere due to ruined heaters and water heaters. a man was taking his car

out of the car when a bullet struck his little girl who is in stable condition at the hospital. >> reporter: walter let's start with the good news, the circumstances, the 4-year-old girl was shot in the upper right leg. expected to be okay. new tonight we spoke with the eyewitness to the shooting who saw it all, let's take a look and listen. >> it's is a shame the girl can't see santa claus before christmas. lee fisher of springfield avenue speaks a sad reality. outside his home was a scene of a violent drive-by shooting a 4-year-old girl would be shot in the leg. fisher said he was walking his dog an saw it happened. >> the car turned around in front of high house and headed back down and opened fire on the guy and his daughter. police say as the suspect was approaching the 4-year-old's father parked the buick and

walked around to the passenger side and picked her up. next they were fired on. her father was not hit, but the child was shot in the upper portion of the right leg. >> reporter: fisher said after the shooting he and another neighbor helped the father and child and took them to a neighbor's neighbor house and waited for help to come. >> we shot them back into his house for safety in case of a recurrence, i was basically outside waiting for the police to come. >> reporter: at this point, detectives say four male suspects with in an unidentified car. facebooks we spoke to today are having a hard time understanding who could commit such a terrible crime. >> i'm sorry, a 4-year-old getting shot. >> they have to put a hit on a kid. >> reporter: as far as we know the little girl is in stable condition. police say her father, they

prosecutors say there is no doubt that a man who opened fire on police in harrisburg was targeting officers, ahmed minamin el-mofly is suspected of shooting at police officers and later shooting at a state trooper. that is trooper was wounded but expected to recover. he open fired on other officers who returned fire he was shot dead at the scene. miss america organization has accepted resignations of three of the top executives. sam hascal resign earlier today. more than 50 former miss america signed the petition dismangd those two men demanding those two men and two others board members step down. dick clark productions cut ties with the organization. philadelphia police 12
