with a suspect here in bethlehem. the big story on "action news" is a bold crime spree that led to a police involved shooting and a police officer shot a man today after he allegedly crashed a stolen car robbed a man in a deli and carjacked a woman at gun point. trish mart man is live in the carjacking victim's neighborhood. >> reporter: we spoke with the victim of that first crime, the carjacking here on church road. she and her family were too shaken to go on camera but it all happened coming home from a christmas celebration good it was here in the 5200 block of church road in winfield that the suspect started his crime spree. the victim's mother tells us the family was coming home from a christmas party and the car was filled with christmas gifts and the diabetes medication and according to the victim the

suspect put a gun to her head and stole the chevy and took off. the surveillance video shows the suspect in the red coat holding someone at gun point in the store and left in the stolen chevy suv. and a short time later the officer spotted the vehicle on hazel avenue empty and when the suspect returned the police followed. >> another set of officers in plain clothes observed the vehicle and attempted to stop the vehicle. >> a plain clothes office approaching the vehicle and gave commands that the suspect did not follow. >> he made gestures to his waist band despite the orders and the officer did discharge the firearm striking the male one time in the chest. and the man was taken to the hospital in critical condition and the office will be placed on administrative duty pending

investigation. >> reporter: that officer's name is not yet released but he is a four year veteran of the 18th district and the suspect name is not released but plan to charge him with the carjacking and robbery. >> thank you. police say that a murder suspect took his own life after fiving more than 100 shots at this police standoff in bethlehem when the 36-year-old fatally shot his own 62-year-old mother mary louise moyer. and he fired on the first police officer on the scene narrowly missing him in the head and the officer and a neighbor took cover behind two different vehicles and hid there until the police deployed this armored vehicle called the bear cat to rescue both of them from the line of fire. and he kept firing at least 26

shots at the bullet proof vehicle >> after a nine hour standoff police say he committed suicide by shooting himself in the head. new video from chopper 6 hd shows the aftermath of a massive christmas day fire. it spread during last night's strong winds. and investigators say that the blaze caused a half million dollars on bay avenue in slaughter beach, delaware. two homes were destroyed and two others damaged and thankfully no other people were hurt. thick smoke was pouring from the byrning home this afternoon in abington township. flames were shooting from the upper floor when crews arrive the. and it's fire broke out at 230 and working for hours trying to get it under control. get ready for the deep freeze it feels frigid out there now and we are expecting temperatures to go even lower

a water main break made a mess at a commercial plaza and northeast philadelphia an 8 inch pipe broke at 7:00 a.m. at the 3100 block and sent water into stores as well as an islamic center where there were prayers under way. one man was lucky his car didn't end up in the hole. >> a few feet back. >> yes. oh my. the car would be done. it's too cold. you see the water is freezing right now. it's too cold. >> salt crews were called in to deal with the leaky water that was freezing on the streets. several streets were closed while the main was being repaired and took all day and
