and the roof. or at least much of the third floor we should say and at least one unit on the second floor as for a cause officials say this is still just a work in progress. >> we had rapid fire spread and grow. andill be fully investigated. >> the fire chief says it could be several more days before state police investigators determin the cause of last night's placed. nobody was injured but all 18 apartments in building c are at this point unuseable. some units burned out and others intact. this man was able to get his winter boots from inside of this unit. and jeanette was surprised by what first responders brought out of her home of 18 years. >> i asked for my mother's ring and old photos, and thank god they were able to get it. >> also, recovered this little

brookhaven today. to describe the local donation relief effort. that is when the srm hard hit this area and uprootedrees and john rawlins, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. police are investigating the death of a 11-year-old girl in northeast philadelphia the child was discovered unresponsive during a sleep over. walter perez joins us live from that scene with the latest. >> reporter: monica as you mentioned the whole thing started as a sleep over at a friend's house and you see the home behind me there in front of the orange truck behind me and the friend visiting lived just two doors down and the friend that lives here saw the victim playing with the ipad at 1:30 before falling asleep and later in the morning the 11-year-old girl was found unresponsive and

pronounced dead when paramedics arrived. police are here and a search warrant is executed but investigators say that at this point they do not expect foul play and neighbors say the victim was a beloved member of the tight knit community. >> very nice kid. they all played out here. all the time. all the kids play out here. it's just crazy. >> reporter: back out live once again at this point authorities have not gotten any idea what happened. it could have been an unknown preexisting medical condition, a food allergy, at this point they will not find out until the autopsy results come back. reporting live walter perez, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. well, within the last 30 minutes philadelphia police identified the victim of a deadly hit and run at 54th

street and city avenue and with winfield. it shows 58 anthony rogers getting off the bus and crossing the street and then he is struck by a vehicle that keeps ongoing, and investigators found that striking vehicle, a red lexus discovered on the 4600 block of north 19th street. and police say there is blood on the outside an peers to be burned on the inside. >> it's tragic. i didn't know anything happened. this street does get dangerous sometimes. a lot of people go real fast. >> people are searching for the driver of that car today. the state has given the green light for philadelphia to again control the city public or tom wolf announced late this afternoon that his administration approved the district's recommendation to dissolve the src and the src voted to disband in november and they took over the schools in 2001 and the education sent says

it's going to feel. and then we track some of that snow friday it's not here. it turns cloudy and we get into saturday morning and saturday afternoon there you see the light snow showers starting to move over the region with the ground so cold. every flake will stick. we are only looking at a coating to 2 inches possibly here on saturday. your five-day at 5:00 forecast, 48 tomorrow and 28 on friday. and factor in the winds, it feels like the single digits to teens both days and snow showers saturday and 128 degrees and watch driving around saturday for slick roads and sunday new years eve for the eagles, 22 degrees and single digits overnight into the new year going into monday for the mummers parade. frigid digits and 20 for the high and and feeling colder than that with the windchills. >> thank you sir. workers in new york city spent time installing the crystal triangles on the ball in times square.

"action news" at 6:00. >> a berks county high school is opening its doors for grief counseling after two peers were killed. sean orner and shannon oldhouse died when a car they were passengers in went off the road here and struck a tree and then the car split in half. the 17-year-old driver was taken to the area hospital for the treatment. and they were students in jefferson township. and a judge ordered a 16-year-old accused in a double murder in south philadelphia to be held on all charges without bail. brandon olivara is accused of the shootings. the teens were shot on the 1300 block of south 12th street on october 24th and police say that an argument led up to the shooting. police are asking for help identifying two men that stole car batteries and motor oil from

we are learning more now about a tragic slaying that left four people including -- a 36-year-old woman and 5-year-old daughter and 11-year-old son and 22-year-old woman who had a relationship with the mother were all found inside of a basement apartment yesterday afternoon. police do not believe the killings were random and the treated as a quadruple homicide and the causes of dem are not released. visitors to times square for the annual new years eve ball
