it is with the southern branch of the jet stream and the gulf states coming off the coast and it's bringing in the cold and bringing in bone dry air and that is creating windchills now 12 degrees in philadelphia and 9 below in philadelphia and 10 below in omaha. atlanta 36 and jacksonville 32 and way in central and southern parts of florida to see warmth in the country. and windchill advisories just for the mountains and carbon and monroe counties tonight and tomorrow we'll feel 10 to 15 degrees below zero and no windchill advisory for the delaware and lehigh valley. morning for the rush with the brisk breeze and suburbs 15 degrees and the city 10 degrees, windchills tomorrow morning expect the suburbs to feel 5 below and the city 5 degrees to start our thursday. we'll chat about the chance for

i can't even believe this happened. >> an autopsy was performed and the preexisting medical condition or food allergy may be to blame. and we are hearing from a second good samaritan that rushed to the rescue of a fiery wreck. it happened this morning on the roosevelt boulevard in east fall. that is where chad pradelli is live with the full story. >> reporter: as you know the holidays are about helping others and three men went above and beyond this morning early this morning on roosevelt boulevard when they helped the man escape from the burning vehicle. athe man inside of the burning minivan was out of it buckled in and upside down that is when they decided they needed to help. >> i am worried it's going to blow. i was thinking you know it could be my brother, sister, mom or

dad. lets get this guy out of here. >> i saw the gas stank was next to the fire that was going on so my first reaction was to get him out of the car. >> this guy is still in there and i can clearly see him hanging upside down. we kicked the window and kick it and it broke. they dragged him to the side of the road where a nurse rendered aid. >> this is video shot by his father. >> you think this guy would have burned to death. >> like 60 seconds later the car pretty much blew up. >> the driver is expected to recover. >> they say help did for him what they hope others would do for them. m not a hero or anything, i did what i thought was right. >> and police said the cause of the car crash is under investigation. the name of the driver has not been released. live in east falls, chad

pradelli, channel 6 "action news." control of the school district of philadelphia will return to the city after the school year and today governor tom wolf will approve the move dissolving the src and governor wolf says they have made significant improvements and that local control with strong state support will make the district stronger and a newly appointed local board will take over in the school year. and a dozen people were left homeless by a blaze at a condominium complex last night. john rawlins joins us live with more on that. >> reporter: good evening. just 24 hours ago that flames were ripping through the building behind me and that fire has turned a lot of lives upside down and that triggered an interesting community response from individuals and businesses here. and police and fire stepped up and they went into the building

today to recover items left behind and everything from old wallets to documents to keep sakes. >> janet here with friends, not sure what police and fire crews would find inside of her second floor apartment today. last night while she was at work fire raged through building c her home since 1999. and she was surprised with the items recovered including precious one of a kind photo of her father. >> i asked for my mom's ring and they were able to get it. >> we made hillary with her service dog, laila at the building where the red cross set up. she is thankful that she and laila made it out and she first smelled wood burning. >> out the front door and i see flames coming out of my neighbor's bedroom window and grabbed clothes out of my hamper

and grabbed her. >> some homes were decorated and 18 now part of the fire scene and they say that the cause and origin will likely not be determined for days and up clear if the building could be repaired or torn down. a few block as way at the borough building people continued to drop off supplies. to those that had lost so much. >> water, food, clothing and personal items all carfully organized part of a brookhaven emergency plan in place should something like this happen. >> these are all from borough residents and people that don't even live in our borough come and drop off. food, money and clothing. >> hygiene supplies and baby supplies. >> quite an outpouring and those items are moved from the borough building to the hill top condominium complex clubhouse

and we are told that everyone impacted by the fire is in some sort of short-term shelter situation at this point in time with the mission to transfer people over to a more permanent transitional housing situation as soon as possible. john rawlins, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. philadelphia police found the red lexus involved in a deadly right and run and the search continues tonight for the driver. police say that this is the vehicle that struck a pedestrian on 54th street in the winfield section last night. and investigators identified the victim as anthony rogers a the 58-year-old getting off the bus soon after he was hit by a car and tossed out of the camera's view and investigators found the lexus with a shattered windshield in the 4600 block of north 19th street this morning and there is blood on the outside and the interior appears to have been set on fire. >> a chester county veteran that was wounded in combat got
