from last thursday on the 1800 block of east atlantic avenue. plain clothed officers spotted the vehicle from that homicide and pulled it over. the suspect ran down one of the officers as they approached. that led to a chase, when the suspect's hyundai crashed into parked cars. >> we have an officer in the hospital in stable condition. the suspect in critical condition at an area hospital and investigators are trying to piece everything together. we have the suspect vehicle on location having crashed into two parked cars. we have not searched the vehicle yet. >> when the suspect got out of the crashed car, he had his hands in his pocket and refused to follow the officer's command leading the officers to open fire. >> a rare shooting in phoenixville at a duncan don't parking lot on gay street at

9:30. the victim identified as a ninth grader is in serious condition. no further details are given about what happened here. more breaks news from princeton, new jersey where the apartment complex has been burning tonight. the fire broke out at 9:00 p.m. in the three story building in the unit block of eunice elliot lane. they had the fire knocked down in an hour and have begun combing the area for victims. >> of temperatures tumble to the 20s. arctic winds are kicking up, bringing a dangerous deep freeze making it feel close to zero degree. it's an accuweather report coming with bone chilling conditions. serious stuff, adam. >> you are feeling it tonight. it's not only us, but most of

who killed a pedestrian on city avenue. police did recover the vehicle involved adding a piece to the puzzle. the inside of the car had been burned. dann cuellar joins us live from the scene as police work to solve this deadly mystery. dan? >> monica, it happened at 54th and city avenue. police are hoping someone passing through by foot or vehicle may have seen something to help them identify the hit and run driver. >> police have now identified the victim of the hit-and-run accident as 51-year-old anthony rodgers. his family was left shaken by his death days before the new year holiday. >> we are shocked about what happened. we want them to find the person that hit my cousin. >> surveillance video obtained by "action news" shows the minutes leading up to the

horrific accident. just after 10:00, the victim is seen getting off the septa bus, pausing before crossing the street. secondslater, a car strikes him. he is hit with such force, he's thrown several yards out of the camera view. the striking driver never stopped. an emblem led police to the car, a red lexus, missing emblem and shattered windshield. there was blood on the outside and it appeared the inside was torched in an apparent attempt to hamper the investigation. >> the family is mourning a man they dearly loved. we want them to find out what happened. >> adding to thee family's pain, the driver didn't stop to render aid, leaving him to die on the roadway in a very cold night.

>> we want them to come forward and be responsible for what they did. >> now police know who the owner of the car is, but they have not established who was driving it. last we checked, it was not reported stolen. if anyone got a look at the driver or knows who he is, you are asked to call police. i'm dann cuellar, channel6 "action news." >> monica? >> thank you, dan. >> a candle light vigil was held in germantown for a 17-year-old man gunned down yesterday. the teen was shot twice in the neck and stomach on the 4600 block of green street. family and friends may have gotten into a dispute visiting friends. so far no one is in custody. >> police warned about it. then it happened, a thousand teens crowded into the cherry hills mall last night, the resulting mayhem reading to

arrests. annie has the fallout. >> monica, so far five minors were arrested according to cherry hills police. this comes days after they had sent out information to parents warning them not to leave their children at the mall unsupervise vised. >> it was the day after christmas when 700 to a thousand young people swarmed the mall. shoppers described the chaos. >> i was scared because there were so many of them. it looked like a hostile situation. they were unsupervisized. >> the kids out numbered the adults, 10-2. >> cherry hill police say it began near the j.c. penny wing. shoppers say it spread to the food court. hundreds inside flooded the "6abc" page. >> seeing the stores close and

putting the jewelry away had me nervous. tyler johnson said he bought expensive gifts. >> i didn't want our stuff to get broken or stolen. >> cherry his police say five juveniles were arrested. charges ranging from disorderly conduct to resisting arrest. police used a loud speaker ushering the kids out. some causing the ruckus were as young as 12. >> are you going back? >> maybe in a few weeks. not immediately. >> the cherry hills police department say they were prepared for this. they credit their large presence with the fact that there were no reports of injuries or property damages. some of the people we talked to wished that the police presence was large until all of the troublemakers were out of the mall. reporting live from cherry hill, annie mccormick, "action news."

ipad about 1:30 before falling asleep. an autopsy will be performed to see if a preexisting condition or food alergy may be to plame. >> many in the garden state are rushing to pay their property taxes by end of the year. state and local deductions will be capped at $10,000. today, chris christie required towns to accept the prepayments. the change in tax law will affect many new jersey tax laws since the state has the highest property taxes in the country. governor tom wolf has approved handing the schools in the state back to the city. they voted to dissolve itself last month. the needed signoff came from the state. philadelphia took over school in 2001 among mounting trouble.
