it gets mighty cold over the next several days. with that said walking down to the parking lot on city avenue. all theot have been treated with brine and salt. the temperatures are so cold, that salt and brine is less effective than it normally would be. that's why we're issuing the accuweather alert it's not for the amount of snow, it's the fact that the snow will stick and the roads will become treacherous for a few hours during the late morning and the afternoon. that's why the national weather service issued a winter weather advisory. generally a coating to two inches likely in the shaded areas. lancaster county in southeastern pennsylvania you're included in the advisory and most of the new jersey. state of delaware, you guys are clear of the winter weather advisory, as well. it's a small system, it's kind of raggedly looking, siewk he

coverage begins at 8:00 p.m. on channel 6. >> 7:36 a.m., saturday morning, new this morning, chester city police have arrested a man they say attacked stabbed and raped a woman on christmas eve. they say shaquille tillman attacked the woman at 2:30 p.m. the victim was treated at crozer-chester medical center. tillman is being held on $1 million bail. a man is under arrest following a high-speed chase that began in delaware and ended in new jersey. the chase began in wilmington where the carolice cruiser. the car went over the delaware memorial bridge in new jersey. the pursuit went along 295 and off at route 30 heading east into berlin. the three suspects inside the vehicle try to make a run for it. chopper 6 hd was over the scene where police caught up to one of the suspects. no injuries reported. 2017 is coming to to a close in philadelphia with a spike in the homicide rate.

as of yesterday there were 314 homicide compared to 277 at this time last year that is a 13% increase and the highest number in five years. the number of overall shooting down. there have been 58 fewer people shot this year. >> shooting victims, the number of people that are shot are down slightly, 4.5%, but the number of people that have died as a result of the shootings have increased. >> philadelphia police are in the process of forming a gun violence task force. they have introduced an intelligence bureau to improve information sharing and put more boots on the ground by increasing the bike patrol. a federal judge ruled against democratic voters who wanted to throw out the congressional map in the state. the judge ruled even though the current map favors republicans, it does not violate

constitution. playoffs have not proven illegal gerrymandering. it is going to the supreme court. up here, you can see the specs of purple starting to show up. this is heavy snow. this is western portions of gloucester, the delaware river, and camden counties in south jersey, here's berlin and medford lakes. all the main roads are completely snow covered at this point. this is moving off to the east at 20 to 25 miles per hour. that's the back end right there, it's not doing anything in new castle county and delaware with the exception of a few flurries in the northern portion of the county. again this is lifting through, maybe a couple of hours left with snow. this is the wider view, the alberta clipper system lots of dry air pushing into the storm. that's the saving grace. once the low which is situated here hits the coast. we have a moisture source to tap into. long island part of new england they will see the heavier snow from the system. this is kind of in the organizing stages now.

that's why we're expecting to see ah of two out of this. it will be areas east of physical that will see the most snow. winds out of the south they are light, 7 miles per hour, good enough to give you a windchill of ten degrees, the falling off from 30.16 inches. ten in lake harmony. 19 in center city. newtown and south jersey and delaware, no relief in sight. 17 in claymont, sam glassboro and vineland. 19 for smyrna and dover. 19 degrees in browns mills. as we look 'surface maps there's the clipper system right there, light snow flying across the mid atlantic today. this is the arctic fronts this will reinforce the cold air. this front drives down intoandl. you want to head to the sunshine state to get away from the cold, no luck my friends because it will be cold in places like orlando, and jacksonville and
