>> i'm sharrie williams in for walter perez. there are only seven hours left in 2017 and lots are ready to party and bid the past year farewell. you can see time square is packed tonight >> there are a number of celebrations closer to home, we have a team of reporters covering it for you, but first let's get the accu-weather forecast with meteorologist. >> people are hoping for a new weather pattern >> the winds will be picking up. right now, it's 14 in philadelphia, you know, the air temperature really doesn't tell the full story, you have to factor in the winds, the windchill, the way it feels, on your body, two degrees below zero. and windchills will be hovering below zero, basically all night and the winds picking up.

satellite and radar, the clouds are sending out it will be a dry new year's e. moon lit skies but bitter cold. if you're heading out as a lot of people are perhaps penns landing to watch the firework, dress in a lot of layers, you know, how to dress for the cold air, we've been doing it about a bit colder. temperatures kind of easing down as we head through the overnight hour, midnight 11, but the windchills will be dropping below zero and they will keep dropping all night. we have a windchill advisory posted from 9:00 until 10:00 tomorrow morning for windchills between about five degrees and 20 degrees below zero. those coldest windchills will be up in the poconos, but tomorrow, where those winds gusting 25 to 30 miles per hour, future tracker showing 7:00 tomorrow morning, it will feel like four degrees below zero in philadelphia, 19 below in the poconos, heading to the mummer's day parade tomorrow, definitely dress in layer, maybe try to

the scene a 45 woman was rushed to cooper hospital. 44-year-old mark lie sick was on the scene when police arrived according to the camden county prosecutor's office. he's been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of first degree attempted murder. no word on the motive. a man was found murdered in northeast philadelphia this afternoon. he was discovered just before 1:00. on the 5700 block of leonard street. police say the 26-year-old was shot in the chest and taken to einstein medical center. where he was pronounced dead. the suspect was seen fleeing the scene in a black kia. 25 homes are without water following a water main break in philadelphia's fox chase neighborhood. an eight inch main broke this morning and flooded homes on the 900 block of straw street where frigid temps quickly turned the area into a giant sheet of ice. residents say they first call the thursday and friday to complaint about leaking water. coming up at 5:30, we'll hear

from residents ending the year with the giant icy mess. >> a fire forced dozens out of their apartments into the bitter cold in yaedon in the 300 block of north front around 2:30 this morning, a resident reported hearing an explosion and noticed smoke. investigators say a transformer box on the buildings shorted out. the red cross tells action news people in 84 units had to evacuate. residents waited in the cold until busses arrived to take them to yaedon bureau hall. another fire this one in philadelphia's kensington section. sense a 5-year-old boy hospital 2700 block of cstreet this after 3 this morning, they found flames shooting from the first and second floor of a house, officials say several people inside the building were forced to jump to safety. the boy was taken to st.

out tonight or tomorrow you really have to pack on the layers and have a warm place you can go inside and take some breaks. satellite and radar showing we did have a pretty thick cloud cover deck earlier. that's now moving on and what this is doing is opening the door for colder air to be moving in tomorrow. so tonight for your new year's eve, a moonlight sky. n't have to worry aby. precipitation. but bitter cold. two degrees in the suburbs nine in center city, but windchills dropping well were below zero. to put this in perspective, last week, was cold. the last time we were above freezing was last monday. and then, this week, we got another reenforcing shot of colder air that will be moving in bitter cold, not just a start of the new year tomorrow b to e next weekend. future tracker showing the wind gusts, these are a little bit overdone but generally around midnight we're looking at winds

cecily tynan joining us now, brutally cold >> the challenge about this forecast is how many different ways can i say it's cold? it's frigid. it's going to get windy, getting colder. so i wish i had better news, let's go live taking a look at penns landing at the ice rink, and dry conditions out there. that's the good news. we don't have to worry about any freezing rain, any snow out there. but it's definitely frigid and i got a great looking shot. john posted it from my facebook page. last sunset of 2017 that view from port pendelo where we had a lot of clouds earlier. the clouds had been thinning out and the accu-weather highlights will show you behind the system we got a stinging wind that will be picking up as we head to the overnight hours as we begin 2018. a windchill advisory posted for windchills dropping as low as 20

below zero. but here in philadelphia, windchills below zero and even more intense arctic air is on the way. as you ring in the new year if you're heading to the fireworks bundle up. put on as many layers as you can. the hand warmers help. by midnight it's 11 but the windchills below zero where they are right now and that's really where they will be staying overnight. take a look at the temperatures. they don't tell the full story. philadelphia 14, our high 20, which is 21 degrees below normal. normal low is 27, our highs not even reaching the low. allentown and reading, 12, cape may 18, pomona, 15, but you factor in the wind, the windchill two degrees below zero in philadelphia, three below in reading, zero in cape may in the poconos feels like 17 degrees below zero. satellite and radar showing the clouds from earlier dissipating as a few fair weather clouds at best but the cold pattern is

reporting in fox chase, jeaneatte reyes channel 6 action news. a man is in critical condition after being shot multiple times in a she was not seconds of philadelphia. the unidentified man was dropped off at temple university hospital around 4:00 this morning. with two gunshot wounds to the legs, and three to the upper body. a preliminary investigation discovered the man was shot in the 2200 block of north 33rd street. right now, police do not know who pulled the trigger. at the scene, police found shell casings and an suv with several bullet holes. a 43-year-old man was rescued from the second floor of a burning building in the overbrook seconds of philadelphia. crews were called to the fire at the intersection of 61st and lansdowne avenue just after 3:30, firefighters used ladders to reach the man trapped in one of the bedrooms. man was taken to an area hospital with severe home inhalation, at last check, he was said to be in critical condition. a firefighter was also
