let's go live on sky 6. look at the ice on the delaware river. in the accuweather 7-day forecast, we have 41 for the high on tuesday. my goodness, that's going to feel unbelievable. you're going to have people running around in shorts because of how cold it's been here. look at some of the size of the chunks of ice on the delaware river. a buddy of mine i don't know if you're familiar with the southern tip of cape may. there's a half sunken ship made of cement of all things. the ice is so thick they were able to walk out to that ship yesterday. it's unbelievable to get that kind of ice on the delaware bay. that's what they're seeing right now because of this right here. look how brutal these numbers are. it's 1 degree above zero in allentown. 2 in trenton wilmington is a new record low too. your 1 degree below zero in millville. believe it or not your record low is something like -7 or -8. not quite record territory but
7:17 am
you factor in the winds and it gets ugly. 8 degrees below zero in philadelphia. as we've been saying here for the last two weeks, if you're going to be outdoors, you need to bundle up. make sure you're covering the extremities. 19 degrees is today's forecasted high. the normal is 14. this is coming off of yesterday's 16 and only 17 the day before that. 6 is where we started out this morning and that's actually the present temperature reading. wind chills later this afternoon may actually get above zero for a change. we didn't manage that at all yesterday but if we're lucky by late morning, let's say 1 below in allentown, 3 above in philadelphia and during the course of the day the wind should start to relax a little bit. that means it's not going to be nearly as harsh as yesterday. by 3:00 it will feel like 10 degrees above for philadelphia, dover wilmington and millville. 8 in allentown and 5 in the
7:18 am
poconos. as we get into the evening hours tonight, the numbers are pretty much camping out in the single digingth than this because the winds begin to calm and the temperatures aloft will start warming. you can see the process here this bitter cold is starting to retreat up into canada where it belongs and we're seeing 40s and 50s down to the southwest. all of these locations were down into the 20s and 30s yesterday. what we're seeing is the milder air aloft starting to race across the lower 48 squeezing some moisture here. so all of this pushes east. so we'll look at future tracker 6, we'll skip over today since today is a quiet day. by 11:00 tomorrow morning we're looking at mainly cloudy conditions temperatures are in the 20s and here comes this little band of moisture. by 3:00 it is snowing to the west and maybe a wintry mix of snow freezing rain over thei-95 corridor just in time for the evening commute. once that passes the next couple of days after that actually look
7:19 am
okay and much, much milder with high temperatures in the upper 30s to mid 40s. so what you can expect for tomorrow mainly cloudy day from 2:00 to 7:00 in the afternoon is when all of this precipitation begins. it's all snow for the lehigh valley actually north of the pennsylvania turnpike. anyone north of there it's probably all snow. south of that mark is mainly sleet with snow mixed in possibly freezing rain. there could be a coating, perhaps a little bit more that's going to create slippery roads. the ground continues to be frozen. so if you get freezing rain everything is going to stick and glaze over so be very careful tomorrow afternoon. sun few clouds today, less wind 19 hit that right around 3:00, oon. a lot of sun just bitter cold temperatures as we go hour by hour. overnight tonight not quite as bad, 1 outlying suburbs, 15 for center city.

not quite as intense today but still bitter cold. 15 for the high. i showed this earlier in the broadcast. this has been the pattern over the last two weeks. all of this cold airrth up into canada as we head into this weekend we start to see some milder pacific air race across the lower 48 and then we get after january 16th and i think all of you are going to enjoy this. the jet stream completely flattens out just like this. and this is all mild pacific air. we keep that cold air bottled up into canada. there's no north-south orientation to the jet stream. it's all west to east. so the cold stays north pacific air races across the country and this is what we're looking at here. from january 16th to february 2nd or 3 give or take it's going to be mild. we could have days in the 50s. not every day will be mild but the bulk will be. the pattern breaking down now. we do have some 50s thursday,
