middle school campus in bucks county. >> plus investigators are looking for the cause a fire at a local diner. >> but the big story on "action news" is the cause of a 12 hour standoff in south jersey. the scene played out in gloucester township. that a man barricades himself inside of a home forcing neighbors to evacuate the nearby schools to shut down. >> jeanette reyes has new details about the man now in police custody. she is live from the standoff scene on hampshire road. >> we are a few yards away from the home where this all happened. this scene is active because the investigation is underway. i want to show you how deadly this could have been. look at this armered vehicle, you see the bullet hole that went through the steel, it did not injure the officers one of 22 rounds fired with the rifle from the suspect. police tell us they did not fire a single round through this 12

hour standoff. >> after 12 hours, two police bear cat vehicles and multiple shots fired at police, this is how an intense standoff ended in sicklerville. the unidentified suspect fired at police officers and vehicles. >> we have in custody a male that has been injured. i can't give you the extent of his injuries nor his name at this time. i will tell that you his injuries were not caused by law enforcement action. >> this is audio a neighbor recorded of an officer talking into a bull horn sounding fatigues, asking the suspect to turn himself in. >> trying to get him to come out over a loud speaker. >> rattled residents sheltering in place gave us real time updates.

host april kauffman was found shot to death in the linwood, new jersey, home from the get go her husband, dr. james kauffman denied any role telling his wife she was alive when he left the home. but on tuesday they charged the endocrinolgist in a murder for hire plot. suggesting that the motive to kill was keeping them -- of telling police about the drug operation with a biker gang. >> he was intint to rather have her killed as opposed to losing his financial empire. >> it's alleged after a year of searching for a trigger man, kauffman and a codefend paid francis mulholland and fired the shots that took april kauffman's life and kimberly pack long suspected her stepfather's involvement in her mother's death. but had no idea of the drug e

and 48 in philadelphia. that is already 8 degrees above average and 47 if in allentown and reading. winds are calm and get out and get stuff done and it's dry and winds are not all that bad and things are not that good. temperatures continue to rise and 6:00 up to 49 degrees and 49 by 8:00. and you see how we march our way to 53 degrees by 2:00 in the morning. at the same time in the overnight hour. it's a system from the west and it will produce rain ain shower here or there this evening. most of this is during the day friday and friday night. at times there could be pockets of rain coming in. looking at an inch or so of philadelphia. wilmington an inch quarter in trenton and more as you head to the shore. a big pocket of rain to the appointment and points north. and a flood watch north of the appointment in wilksbury and

scranton, we have a lot of ice because of the frozen temperatures recently on rivers, it's beginning to break up in the thaw we are experiencing and some ice jam flooding where the ice jams break loose and own either side you could get flooding. interesting pictures from there the next several days. we are looking at the usual backed up storm drain flooding and occasional pocket of rain coming in. more on the weekend call including the eagles call coming up from accuweather. that is just ahead. >> thank you. >> in south jersey investigators are looking for a cause a restaurant fire. the flames spread through the country town diner overnight in berlin. chopper 6 hd flew over the scene on south white horse pike, we are told there was no injuries resulting from the blaze. >> a counseling session is underway at the university of pennsylvania following the death of a student. students are gathering in a

private room on campus to remember blaze bernstein. the 19-year-old was found dead in southern california two days ago and was home visiting his family during the winter break. police are investigating bernstein's death as a homicide. first responders were able to save a dog that fell through the ice in south jersey. this is new video of yesterday's rescue in mullica township. a german shepherd named quincy was trap add long jackson road and firefighters sent a boat to pull the dog out of the water. and he did slipping and sliding and the dog walk add way unharmed. >> still to come a grueling search. hundreds of volunteers are combing the region hit by mudslides in california. >> also, meet the local spin instructor still at the top of his game at 79 years old. >> looking good meteorologist david murphy will have your seven-day forecast when "action

it's really nice out there today. and getting milder tomorrow and we have rain on the way. stormtracker 6 live double scan shows us we are dry and great afternoon building to get out and enjoy yourself. as we look outside we currently have sky 6 hd and we are looking at the ben franklin bridge and you can see that there is still a fair amount of cloud cover overhead and the same time bright patches here and there and not out of the question to see sunshine through the afternoon and it's comfortable and clouds win out overall and some sun. and the winds are currently calm

and feeling comfortable out there. the a decent coat and jacket and are you in good shape. 37 in allentown and 56 degrees in millville and holding 49 in cape may. satellite shows you how the cloud cover is pronounced from here to pittsburgh, but there are thinning spots here and there. we can't rule out a little bit of sun. out in the lehigh valley cloudy and mild with a high of 48. down the shore mostly cloudy skies and sunny breaks ott now the of the question. and 54 is the mild high down the shore. and philadelphia high of 52, they may hold off until the evening hours, we have warm air coming up from the sound on the light wind through the day and that will continue to pile that warm air into the region in the overnight hours. and temperatures may rise in the overnight and continue to rise in through tomorrow as well. mostly cloudy and mild today overall with temperatures close to 50 degrees before we hit the high. overnight rain arrives and the

evening hours do not look bad and fog is thick and 48 is the overnight low, and in terms of rain the evening hours may be a little damp here and there and light showers and sprinkles and cecily tynan has something to show you at 10:00 or 11:00, it's friday morning we see pronounced rain in parts of the region for part of the morning commute and during the day there say chance of pockets of heavier rain at times and overall just an inch, inch and a half of rain in philadelphia and by 6:00 parts of the region could be seeing this. and by 11:00 we start to taper off a bit and another batch coming in on saturday morning, should be gone by 9:00, 10:00 and big issue up to the north where we may have a change over to icy mix and northwest suburbs and places like northern bucks and northern montco and northern chester county and up to the berks county and lehigh valley areas freezing rain is possible late into friday night and early saturday morning. sleet could possibly be part of

cancer confidence as they continue with their cancer treatment. >> and now the details on the developing story we are following since last night in south jersey. the police standoff in camden county has ended with an arrest more than 12 hours after it began, the authorities used a machine to barge through the front door of the home and a robot was sent in as negotiations began to move forward and shots were fired at the home at a police vehicle during the incident and prompted area residents to be evacuated and nearby schools to cancel classes for the day and an adult male is in custody and he is associated with the home where it took place and injured but not by police. and a woman with the man is talking to police as well. she was inside of the house, we'll update the story on air and online as we get more information. hundreds are to
