news for the start of the rush but that will fill back in in the next couple hours. so far picking up over an inch of rain in mount pocono. not a good sign especially for those ski resorts with the melting snow there. philadelphia picking up about a inch and a quarter of rain, over an inch in wilmington, trenton three-quarters of an inch and interior south jersey not even a quarter of an inch fell the heaviest of it i-95 to the north and west. but as we look at storm tracker6 live 3-d you can see down to the south the rain is refiring, regenerating. that will be coming back in this evening. a lot of warm air ahead of this system. low pressure between cincinnati and nashville and a lot of cold air behind it and once this low lifts to the north, that cold air is really going to rush in here late tonight and early tomorrow morning. in fact, it's 63 degrees right now in philadelphia. it is 27 in cleveland, 16 in green bay and four below zero in international falls so a tremendous difference in air temperature along this

"action news" reporter annie mccormick live outside the basilica this afternoon. she joins us with the story from there. annie. >> reporter: and brian, last night you could see at the first viewing that the line was wrapped around the block. today hundreds more came out to show their respects both inside of the basilica during that mass and then also in the pouring rain they gave their final salute to lieutenant matthew letourneau. hundreds packed the basilica of saints peter and paul for their final goodbye to 42-year-old lieutenant matthew letourneau. engine 45 from letourneau's

firehouse carried the casket of the 11 year department veteran. bagpipers from philadelphia police and fire pipes and drums played as his fellow firefighters carried him into the church. his helmet not far behind. his family standing together surrounded by men and women in uniform. inside the basilica -- >> ♪ , a choir from letourneau's alma mater cardinal o'hare and words of comfort from the fire commissioner. >> he will be with us every step of the way. for matt is not gone. he has simply gone ahead he has gone ahead and joined a company of other heroes. >> reporter: letourneau began as a volunteer firefighter near his home at the springfield fire company in high school. he continued to teach and mentor there.

today his procession ended in delaware county. friends and family say letourneau will always be remembered for his wit, compassion for people and animals and his life of service. >> i've known lieutenant letourneau for a number of years. excellent man. excellent person. excellent firefighter. >> reporter: brian and sharrie we just learned from the philadelphia fire department that lieutenant letourneau will be promoted next week to the rank of captain. for now reporting live in center city, annie mccormick channel6 "action news." back to you. >> all right, annie, thank you. an nj transit bus driver is recovering in the hospital right now after a man allegedly attacked him about 9:30 this morning at the intersection of haddon and kaighn avenue in camden. police say a person tried to board the bus with a dog. when the driver explained that the dog could not board the bus, the discussion apparently escalated into a dispute. the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed the driver several times in the arm and shoulder.

police arrived quickly and they were able to arrest that suspect. >> a good samaritan tried to stop a robbery in progress in north philadelphia. but he ended up critically wounded and in the hospital. the 27-year-old was a customer waiting to get his haircut at the harris' hairstyling barbershop last night when someone announced a robbery. well, that's when the customer began fighting with the robber. the fight then spilled outside onto the sidewalk of the 2900 block of north 22nd street. that's when several shots were fired and the good samaritan was struck twice. an arrest has been made in this shooting. "action news" reporter vernon odom is gathering more info on the story. we'll have a live report coming up in our next half hour. investigators in bensalem are hoping someone recognizes this woman. she's wanted for trying to use stolen credit cards on more than one occasion. this video is from december 13th at the cvs on neshaminy boulevard. police say the cashier thought the woman looked familiar

though as president trump denies using a vulgar word to describe immigrants from certain countries. during a meeting on an immigration deal with lawmakers from both parties yesterday, he reportedly used an expletive to describe haiti and the african nations that send immigrants here to the u.s. saying "why are we having all of these people from bleep countries come here. today on twitter president trump admits the language he used was "tough" but claims he did not use that certain specific curse word. this afternoon two republican senators couldn't recall hearing it. but today republican senator lindsey graham says he pushed back after hearing the vulgarity about african countries. the lone democrat in the room dick durbin of illinois calls the president's denial a lie. >> it is not true. he said these hate filled things and he said them repeatedly. it was a heartbreaking moment. >> now, all of this today sending shock waves through capitol hill and of course

around the world with many lawmakers saying that this conversation throws a wrench into those immigration talks, what they were there for in the first place. also today president trump is getting his first medical checkup as president at walter reed military hospital. that exam includes everything from blood pressure to cholesterol blood sugar heart rate and weight. the white house did say though that the president will not be undergoing a psychiatric exam amid some recent calls for it by critics. sharrie. >> another very busy day out of d.c. all right, alicia. kentucky will be the first state to require many of the it's medicaid recipients to have a job. the trump administration announced individual states can mandate employment for certain medicaid enrollees. each state needs to apply for a waiver from the federal government and today kentucky became the first to win approval. officials expect the change to save the state $300 million but as many as 95,000

the heavy rain is over temporarily. it's a bit of a break. there are a few light showers in the western suburbs coming from maryland working across the border into southern chester county berks county as well as northern montgomery county so we're starting to see things fire back up and what's going to happen is the radar is going to fill back in during the evening hours and heavy rain will eventually move in as well. as we look at high temperatures today, four records have been broken so far, trenton a new record high 65 degrees. we match that in allentown, 64 in reading and even the poconos a record high temperature today of 58 degrees. but as we look at the winds they're out of the southeast right now so the ocean is 34 degrees. so notice how beach haven cape may 40's because of the wind off the water and because the atmosphere is so drenched right now with moisture, there is dense fog and a dense fog advisory for the shore only until 6 o'clock while inland locations much warmer in the 50's and the 60's as we look to the south you can see a

good pipeline of moisture coming up. that is the warm sector of this low which is in the tennessee valley cold air back behind it. toronto chicago cincinnati starting to see snow. they're to the north and west, no threat for any icy conditions at least until the one, 2 o'clock hour in notice northwestern area. 44 philadelphia, 46 in millville with rain turning heavy at times. in fact, 6 o'clock you can see heavy rain down to the south. the radar filling in in and around the delaware valley. torrential rain right around midnight as the area of low pressure starts to push through, starts to change to a little freezing rain up in the poconos and at the tail end 4:00, 4:30 in the morning you see a little blue near allentown and reading with freezing rain. the rest of us no threat. it's all gone by the time most of us wake up early tomorrow morning with some sun returning. future tracker any sort of ice accumulations you can see it is way on the low end of the

>> reporter: good evening, sharrie. julius frazier aged 28 remains in critical condition as police continue to search for the two armed robbery suspect he encounter the around 9 o'clock last night. these black and white photos are the best surveillance shots police have of the attempted murder suspects. at this hour they're working to enhance the images. around 9 o'clock last night on the 2900 block of north 22nd street police say two masked gunmen entered this barbershop and announced a robbery. there was a mother there with at least two of her children. a customer now identified as 27-year-old jayliel frazier rose up to resist the bandits and a tussle ensued. >> that struggle continues and at that time one of the offenders did discharge his firearm at least two times striking our complainant in the chest and in the leg. >> reporter: police rushed him to the hospital where he remains in extremely critical

condition following surgery. the suspects fled on foot. one person of interest a 17-year-old was picked up for questioning several blocks away. but at least so far he has not been charged in this case. brian, again, jayliel frazier a father of two young children is in extremely critical condition here at temple university hospital at this hour. police still pursuing his attackers. i'm vernon odom, channel6 "action news" live on north broad. >> vernon thank you. meanwhile police in delaware county are still trying to find a killer who shot a man to death in darby township overnight. 27-year-old jamie carroll was that found on the sidewalk along the 1000 block of bark erode. the philadelphia man had been shot several times including once in the head at close range. now, in addition to the gunman, police are also looking for the motive today. >> officials from septa and the hatfield township police department are investigating an accident involving a train and a car this morning.

this happened near the 1400 block of walnut street in lansdale. police say for some reason an suv stopped on those tracks just after 6:00 a.m. a train traveling westbound slammed into the back of that vehicle pushing it off the tracks. but fortunately neither of the people in the suv was hurt. the train engineer was taken to the hospital to be checked out. a dangerous new game is catching on with teenagers and young adults involving a product that is so dangerous to eat the company takes special care to make sure that you don't. four thieves using crow bars to break inside those cases. the group took more than 40 guns before fleeing the scene. they released the video with the hopes that someone will recognize the men and turn them in. >> there were moments of total confusion during an australian cycling race when the finish line moved. watch as a large truck drivers into the inflatable sign and drags it down the road. reporter sara hancock and her photographer captured video of the incident at the tour down under the the truck driver managed to stop with that sign fully intact. officials quickly put it back in place just in time for the winner of the women's race to cross the official finish line. >> ♪ >> big talkers now. let's start in colorado where a female student at a high school says she was sexually assaulted by a teacher. adding to the insult and injury this student also says after she told administrators she was suspended, she was then forced to apologize to

that teacher and hug him. all of this according to an indictment against three colorado school fishes. officials -- officials. they include the principal david gonzalez and the vice principal aj mcintosh both placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of court proceedings. this teen claims in 2013 she was sexually assaulted by her teacher brian vasquez. she says she was told that her allegations would ruin his career and that once she recanted her story as they asked her to do, they still suspended her, they forced her to apologize and again give him a hug. but he was arrested this past august and charged with sexually assaulting and exploiting other students prompting this girl to now tell her story and take it to court. micro cheating. have you ever heard of this? it's a thing. not a big, big one like actual cheating but a little sort of mini version that's real and can be just as hurtful in its own right. micro cheating is described as

seemingly small actions which suggest a person is emotionally or physically focused on someone else. examples. giving a waitress or a bartender a really large chip -- tip just because they are good looking. holding onto maybe a piece of clothing from an ex that reminds you of them. repeatedly liking an ex's instagram post or constantly texting someone else on the sly. so it's not physical cheating per se but it's doing little things that your current flame would certainly not approve of all things that indicate that maybe your mind and your heart are somewhere else. micro cheating. thing about -- think about it. if your better half hogs the whole covers, cover, covers, there's something on the market that just may save your relationship and your sleep. this my friend is the cover clamp. a weapon against blanket duvet thefts.

to business route one. so, definitely going to be a slow go. a bit of a northbound gaper delay as well in association with what's happening right here. again jackknifed tractor-trailer 95 southbound approaching 413 definitely slowing you down this afternoon. also we're seeing some slowdowns as well if you're traveling in or out of northeast philadelphia and you're taking the roosevelt boulevard. up and over those twin bridges that northbound side going to be very heavy from 76 out to broad street. if you're traveling southbound we're seeing delays approaching 76 and i'm still getting word that on the boulevard southbound right around f street we still have some flooding out there in the inner lanes so something to keep an eye out there for sure. i want to take you to sewell new jersey. we have a medical emergency out there on route 55 southbound right at route 47 and you can see how slow speeds are as you travel through deptford. it is out there on the shoulder but something to watch out for as well and delays on the 42 freeway. typically here in bellmawr we're moving along nicely. you're trade from this point out to the black horse pike. back to you. >> gina thanks. accuweather is next but before we go to break we want

more firing up to our south that will turn heavy and steady again. low pressure near nashville. behind that the air is tremendously cold where you get sleet freezing rain and snow so a lot going on in the east coast right now and if we take a look at storm tracker6 live double scan a little closer here at home there you can see some light rain, again a stripe of it developing from maryland, parts of delaware now working into chester delaware county, parts of philadelphia county and then streaming up the northeast extension into the lehigh valley so the radar again we had a little bit of a break late this afternoon but filling back in and it will turn heavy once again as we get into the overnight hours. in fact as we take a look at some of those temperatures right now, very mild. in fact record breaking across some of the area. 62 philadelphia. record allentown of 65 degrees. record high today 58 in the poconos. same for trenton at 65 degrees. 64 in dover. and millville. not bad if you like the warmth of 57 degrees. again, there's that breakup of the rain and the snow.

low pressure in the tennessee valley. the low goes to our north and west so we stay on the warm side of the low for most of the overnight hours. at the very tail end there could be a little bit of sleet or freezing rain up toward the lehigh valley and the poconos. tonight rain heavy at times. don't worry about icing. it's just the ponding on the roads you'll have to deal with for your friday night. 32 in the morning on the lehigh valley 34 for center city. we look at future tracker at 6:30 this evening. there you can see again some heavy rain, dover, millville, atlantic city starting to push back up to philadelphia. right after midnight, may wake you up with some heavy downpours passing through here and at that time it is still just plain old rain for our entire viewing area even at 2 o'clock in the morning. again, it's a small window of opportunity four to 7:00 a.m. that the back edge could see a little bit of that sleet or freezing rain up towards the lehigh valley but 8:00 a.m. the precipitation is done and again, some sun returning tomorrow afternoon but definitely going to be on the
