king junior. through symbolic gestures and agents of service to help others, thousands in the area are doing their part to pay tribute to the slain civil rights leader. the action cam is live on independence mall where the 33 national bell ringing ceremony is underway. the symbolic ringing of the liberty bell is one of the many events happening across the country and in philadelphia. volunteers in the delaware valley today was anything but a day to catch up on sleep. a national record of 150,000 people participated in the greater philadelphia martin luther king day of service. it is the country's oldest and largest event of its kind. todd bernstein is it's director. >> i think we're a divided nation and that's been compounded in recent times, i think now is perhaps, more important than in recent years for us to try to come together. >> thousands did just that including bob casey, philadelphia school superintendent dr. william hite and governor tom wolf. that's what today is about, dr. king was about service above all. we need to create a fire society for everyone. >> reporter: local organizations an companies and volunteers donate their time and resources.

23 in allentown. 27 in wilmington. 32 in millville. 35 in cape may. with winds running 8 to 16 miles per hour we have windchills in the teens in a lot of spots, feels like 18 degrees as you step outside in philadelphia and wilmington, currently. 11 in reading. 16 in allentown. 23-degree windchill in trenton and 25 in millville. bundle up a little bit as we head outside today. as we go through the rest of the day, temperatures don't go all that far, looks like we'll get up to 32 degrees for a high around 3:00 p.m. and pretty much hold on 29 and 28 as we go later into the night. you can see how it's mostly cloudy, maybe a couple of sunny breaks. the windchills not letting up, looks like they will be in the low to mid 20s the rest of the afternoon with the general 8 to 16-mile an hour. here's the flood warning on either side of the delaware valley from yardley and bucks county through morrisville and trenton and below trenton. in these areas because of the ice jam we showed you on chopper

gather today to say goodbye to the university of pennsylvania student who was found murdered in california last week. he feels home on winter break after he went missing meeting up with a high school friend. his body was discovered last tuesday. officials are waiting for autopsy results to determine the exact cause of death. police i say dna evidence linked burnstein's death with his friend. that friend, samuel woodward is hind bars. so far no charges have been filed. police have not released a motive. disturbing social media post have surfaced in which woodward said if he could learn a new skill it would be water boarding, asked about cannables, he said they have the right idea. 26-year-old keith borris was involved in the hit-and-run

>> turning to the terrifying missile alert sent in hawaii, and why it took 38 minutes to retrack the alert when officials knew it was not real after 3 minutes. that's the message that sent people running for shelter around 8:07 a.m. saturday morning. after officials say an employee hit a wrong button. emergency workers say they did not have the correct workers in place to say it was a false alarm. now they will have two people do the alert and say it is a false alarm. a woman died hours after a casino boat caught fire forcing her and the other passenger to jump to safety. the 40-year-old escaped the blaze at 4:00 p.m. on sunday. they jumped into the chilly

snow. >> reporter: a little bit of snow coming in, might be enough to make roads slippery late tomorrow and wednesday morning. storm tracker 6 live double scan shows us we are dry. taking a look outside, we have sky6 live hd. there's the rothman ice rink they are getting traffic on the ice rink despite the clouds and the cold air in place. 28 degrees, a little below freezing. wednesday out of the northeast at 13 that's giving you a windchill of 17. if you're planning to head out on martin luther king bundle up. 33 degrees in trenton. 33 in allentown. 27 in wilmington, the freezing mark 32 in millville. we had cloud cover welling in off the ocean. we might get a sunny break here or there. but we're stuck under the clouds. in allentown, increasing clouds, 28 degrees is the cold high there. increasing clouds at the shore, windchills in the 20s. clouds continue to increase in philadelphia with a high of 32 degrees this afternoon. still on the cold side, winds out of the northeast 8 to 16

giving you windchills in the 20s all the way. mostly cloudy overnight dipping to 27. winds lightning up in the overnight hours. tomorrow, anytime after about one or two p.m. in the northern and western suburbs we're looking at snow arriving. the latest model run has this holding off until 5:00 p.m. i think this will come down to philadelphia faster than that and sliding through the region. model right now has this possibly still around for early wednesday morning maybe for the beginning of the commute before it finally gets toward the east. i think whatever is happening on wednesday is probably fairly light. overall we're not looking at a whole lot of snow, but it will be out there. snow arriving around 2:00 p.m. across the region. it will last until wednesday morning. we're going for a coating to 2 inches out of this, higher months north and west you go. slippery travel is possible in
