good afternoon in the news, round one of today's snow mostly hit the north and west and a second round is on its way and more folks are in its path. we have the detail kocoming up. now you see them now you don't. the eagles playoff tickets soldout this morning. >> and the accuweather alert has a series of snow storms moving through the area, the first wave has mostly melt add way this afternoon but the next wave tonight could leave several inches for us. sky 6 hd showing you philadelphia international airport at lunch time. it's a cloudy afternoon dry out there mostly but that could change in just a few hours from now. meteorologist, david murphy has the first check of your forecast. >> we have some of that snow earlier this morning. it's gone for the most part. we'll talk about that in a moment. there is a winter weather advisory extended for the rest of today and into wednesday morning. in the northern and western suburbs including reading and

the lehigh valley and the poconos. these counties, north bucks and montgomery and chester are added to this officially at 4:00 this afternoon. there may be something popping this afternoon. but most of the anticipated snow is holding off until later tonight. we are looking at at rival gradually as we go into the overnight hours. there is light snow in harrisburg and pottsville. it has a hard time pushing farther to the east and this morning low clouds crept to the east and created a couple of snow showers and there is a chance of mixed precipitation in allentown and reading. and in the northern and western areas, it probably won't matter but the bigger issue is this building and starts to push down tonight and in the overfight hours closer to philadelphia. we got the little snow this morning. up to .4 inches in northwest reading and accidents in the morning snow. chester county, new london. west grove a .10 inch of and the

lehigh valley airport. the same thin for montgomery county and greaterford and really just setting the table with a light round one which ovuld be more significant snow night tonight. we are mild this afternoon. 40 this afternoon that where thr as are. >> our snow coverage continues now while some places barely saw any snow other areas like lehigh valley and chester county saw snow during the morning commute and as david said there is more snow on the way. walter perez is live now with the word from penndot. >> reporter: as david mentioned and as you can see we received more snow in the lehigh valley than the delaware valley. penndot had a busy morning and get ready to hit the roads once again tonight. round one came through leaving as much as and inch of snow in

spots and the timing left something to be desired and now a winter weather advisory remains in effect with round two expected later this evening. and the projected lows around the freezing mark the lehigh valley is expecting 2 to 4 inches before it's said and done and penndot is urging commuters not to adopt a false sense of security as it arrives bit bhav roadways, we say that we have crews out there. but no matter what if you see weather coming down drive appropriate. slow down. we have to be partners in safety out there. >> once again several school districts if the lehigh valley are dismissing school early because of the impending snow and urging computers to take it

now to the house of horrors in california. a couple is behind bars accused of abusing their 13 children and

amaking them live in dung enlike conditions. they were discovered when a 17-year-old girl escaped with a cell phone from the house and called 911. officers swarmed the home and arrested their parents. they are both held on $9 million bail. neighbors recall seeing the children late at night rolling out sod. >> everybody was super skinny, not athletic skinny but malnourished skinny they spoke to his father and they recently renewed their vows alongside their 13 children and had matching outfits and had the exact same haircut. >> they begin with education and awareness. 6 abc is teaming up with local

meteorologist, david murphy back with the accuweather forecast. and the peanut snow this morning. snoopy snow. >> i'm not sure that is a meteorological definition. but it was falling from so low. all the radars were overshooting it a bit and some people were seeing light snow and not showing up on the apps or radar or phones. we have a little bit of snow to the north and west of philadelphia as we take a closer look this is when, we didn't quite get the closer look. in any event we have a little bit to the north and west in philadelphia. but it is not right now, not, pushing into the immediate region. it's possible out in reading and places like that you see it this afternoon but you'll probably

have to wait until later tonight. live at cape may, sun is a breaking through we have clouds mixing with sunny breaks. 38 degrees and winds are calm. and no windchills to talk about. up above freezing and we'll add a few more to the temperatures this afternoon. in reading and allentown you are cooler and i expect the numbers to bump up a bit over the next couple of hours. if you see precipitation it's probably light and mixed precipitation. and wait until after dark. in all likelihood for this to be a bigger issue. in the northern and western suburbs you happen to see something popping up you want to slow it down and take it slow and temperatures are closer to the freezing mark. in terms of this snow it looks like between now and 6:00 and beyond. the main body is having a hard time making it down into allentown and reading. and if you see something it's probably mix precip, we get past

11:00 and it's trying to make the push to the south and maybe it makes it this evening. if it doesn't don't worry will t will. it could start as rain in philadelphia but we will be snowing and the rest of us get a batch of rain in the morning commute and rain changing over to snow. and this is where the accumulation will come and it looks to get out of here and some revisitation of snow down the coast for a brief period and that shouldn't add a lot of additional accumulation. for the timing, this afternoon and this evening mainly dry, if you see anything it will be northern and west a mix in the afternoon and a bit of snow here and there this evening. overnight as you saw is when we anticipate the main body of snow to move in down through the northern and western suburbs and across i-95 through the early morning commute. wednesday morning a snowy commute for most of it, fairly light precipitation and enough

to make roads slippery and down the shore a better chance of mixed precipitation, a coating to an inch looks likely down south. 1 to 2 inches in and around the i-95 corridor and up north 2 to 4 is more likely. most of the model are agreeing it gets heavier toward the poconos, new model runs for philadelphia are showing a lot of the projects less than an inch in philadelphia. definitely more up north. today an accuweather alert, for later tonight and overnight. 42 is the high. and we'll get snow at night. wednesday morning snow and slippery morning commute and very likely for areas close to 95 on up into the northern and western suburbs, and we dry out and get sun and tomorrow a high of 35.

then up to 37 on thursday, sunny and brisk and 43 on friday as we get on the other side of the cold snap and up close to 50 on saturday. and sunday for the eagles contest looking good and high of 54 and we take out the mention of an evening shower and 48 degrees for the kickoff for the eagles, and a great day to tailgate and then go and enjoy a super bowl clinching win. >> that is it. >> 6:30ish. right around there yes. >> we'll have more when "action news" comes right back.
