inches. it is tuesday night and the big story on "action news" is the careful watch on the storm's track. the snow arrives overnight and likely to cause issues for part of the morning commute and live now on sky 6 hd over the ben franklin and clouds have moved in and snow is coming and how much you get depends on where you live. annie mccormick is standing by live at the salt yard. and cecily tynan has more on the timing of the snow. >> reporter: hi rick, double scan live radar showing the band of snow out to the west. and moving more north than east. it's taking a long time to move into the philadelphia area. it's fighting dry air and also fighting slightly above temperatures in philadelphia and notice we do have light snow parts of lancaster county and berks county and the lehigh valley. and the poconos this really is not accumulating much but these areas will be getting the bulk of the snow.

temperatures show you in allentown and reading and lancaster, 32 degrees and poconos 27 but philadelphia it's still 43 and atlantic city airport 38 and well above freezing and it will take a while for that column of air to drop below freezing and for the moisture to move in. a winter weather advisory is posted for areas west of the pennsylvania turnpike. and the poconos is under a winter storm warning and parts of the poconos could get up to 6 inches of snow and the ski resorts are happy about that. the problem with the system future tracker 6 showing it's here in time for the wednesday morning commute. light snow but even a little bit of snow can cause big problems, the morning rush, definitely philadelphia and areas north and west. use caution and allow extra time and roads are still snowy and slippery and snowy until 8:00 in the morning and south jersey and delaware it starts as rain and

flipped over to snow at the very end at 9:00. mainly wet and do be careful there there could be slick spots on roads and temperatures there dropping around freezing and we'll talk about totals where you live coming up in the full accuweather forecast. >> lets switch to annie mccoralic live montgomery county. >> it feels like it has been a long winter. don't worry there is plenty of resources left. you see behind me the amount of salt getting ready for another event. penndot will use all 180 state trucks and 170 contracted trucks to cover 3,000 miles that they cover in five counties for district six. those preparations began today.

inside of the penndot command center they monitor road conditions and they will treat the roads overnight where there is less traffic and salt is laid down when snowfalls. drivers can get an idea of where the plow trucks are and where drivers should avoid by using the 511 app. >> can you you can pull up an app and click on the dots and know what it has done and what direction it is headed in. and gives you an idea of where the plows are in your area. as far as your drive. >> penndot is getting a number of calls about potholes in the area, and when weather events happen that takes precedence and they can't fix the post holes in the time. and they are created by treating the roads ahead of the event but when the weather event is over and the roads are clear they will get back to fixing the potholes around the area.

degrees and beach haven 38 and notice allentown and reading and lancaster, you are at 32 degrees and they are dealing with light snow showers on and off through the day up there. satellite 6 along with action radar showing the system i am tracking the low pressure developing offshore and the cold front pushing in slowly from the west. and this line of snow extends all the way down to texas. houston dealing with snow and ice and a lot of flights canceled there. one of my facebook viewers says she can't fly to philadelphia, they can't deal with it down there. philadelphia down to 30 and allentown 27 and wilmington 29 and cape may slightly above freezing 33 degrees, future tracker 6 timing it out 11:00 tonight when we are on the air. it's not snowing in philadelphia. a lot of clouds and snowing in the lehigh valley and the poconos and northern lancaster county.

as the moisture moves in it will begin as rain in philadelphia around 2:00 in the morning and the air cools down, by 5:00 it's snowing in philadelphia and the i-95 corridor and it's still raining in south jersey. and 7:00 it's over for the lehigh valley and berks county and the poconos and it extends into interior south jersey and the coast and out of here by the afternoon and the sunshine is back. this is kind a take away it begins at snow in the lehigh valley. starts as rain and quick turn over to snow philadelphia and southeast takes longer to change to snow. slowest commute pennsylvania. delaware and new jersey slick spots but mainly rain. barely anything at all. interior south jersey and northern delaware a coating to inch. and north of philadelphia coaty 1 to 2 inches and berks county 2

east as we move through the overnight hours. winter weather advisorys posted northern of the pennsylvania turnpike going into effect at 8:00 tonight until noon on thursday. the poconos could get up to 6 inches of snow. ski sorts are happy about this forecast. and the timing and how much you get depends on the location. the lehigh valley. the snow started it's really light is now and increasing in intensity as we head through the evening hours, pennsylvania suburbs including philadelphia as well. starts as rain 1:00, 2:00 in the morning and changes over to snow at 3:00 in the morning and south jersey and delaware moves in as rain between 3:00 and 5:00, and do be careful there could be freezing rain and a change over to snow in the morning hours. and 5:00 a change ore to snow there. 6:30 in the morning, this is when temperatures start to crash and freezing in philadelphia and slightly above freezing in south jersey and then temperatures

some were shackled to the furniture. here is more on how the case came to light and she joins us live from los angeles. >> reporter: rick, investigators say this is like nothing they have ever seen and they are praising the bravery of one of the children, a 17-year-old that came forward to report the abuse. >> authorities say it was one of the 13 abused children that alerted them to what was happening inside of this home. >> she managed to escape through a window, call 911 and show investigators pictures of the abuse. >> i have been in health care for a long time and never seen this. >> video shows officers swarming in and taking their parent as way in handcuffs. they found three of the 12 remaining children inside chained to furniture. calling the condition of the home horrific, the children were so badly malnourished some of them adults as old as 29, looking like children.

condition and we'll continue to follow the story. a man has died after being shot multiple times in philadelphia. gunshots rang out before 1:00 this morning along the 800 block of north 12th street and when police arrived they found a 27-year-old man in the road unresponsive and rushed him to the hop where he had surgery but did not survive. a short time later a man was killed in southwest philadelphia. the victim shot in the head and back and his body was found on the south block of 17th street. they do not have any with one in custody. a warning for drivers watch out for potholes they are popping up all over and our weather is to blame. the pothole three feet wide opened up at cotman and oxford avenue. they are scrambling to fill

walter perez is in west reading tonight and first lets get the latest from accuweather and meteorologist, cecily tynan. what is the story? >> double scan live radar showing this snow draped across pennsylvania, it has not started to progress eastward and probably won't until after midnight. the problem is that during the morning commute for most of the area it's snowing. it's already started snowing lightly in the northern and lehigh valley and northern berks. and the band has not started to work eastward yesterday and will gradually as this system feeds in with the moisture from the developing low offshore. temperatures show it will take a while for the snow to start, it's going start as rain in philadelphia. 40 right now and trenton 38 and millville 36 and cape may 40 and ins allentown and reading it's 32 degrees all snow there. a winter weather
