deputy u.s. marshal is dead tonight and what is not clear is what led the s&p to fire the shots. >> none of us has sufficient words to suppress our grief and sorrow, the hills have lost a father, son husband and brother far too soon. >> they are mourning the loss of one of their own after a violence morning in harrisburg. david hill died in the line of duty at 6:30 this morning. investigators say that deputy hill along with other officers were issuing fugitive warrants when a male suspect opened fire and the death of deputy hill is described as a huge loss for the community and law enforcement. >> you would probably not find a better tactical operator in the state of pennsylvania. >> police say that the shooting started on the insized the home and moved to the outside they were not there for the man but for a woman. and it's not clear what prompted the man who is not identified to

fire at officers. >> and the male exited the resident and gun fire was returned and that male was killed. >> authorities say that one owner officer was injured and expected to survive. and the woman they wanted for the warrant was handcuffed and is now in custody. they are promising answers for deputy hill's family. >> he serve the city and community with courage and he will be missed and words cannot say how much. >> all right back out live, we can tell you tonight that police tell us that two children were inside of the home during the shooting and between the ages of 9 and 13 and they were not injured and we learn more about deputy hill, we are told not only was he a marshall is he also a u.s. veteran serving in

the afghanistan war and leaves behind two children ain wife. gray hall, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. two people are in police custody tonight after a pursuit from delaware county into south philadelphia. it happened within the past two hours, the suspects ditched their hummer on train tracks on columbus boulevard near oregon avenue. they were captured a short time later and unclear why the police were pursuing the suspects and the trooper crashed in tinicum township. and we have a tragedy in delaware county. nine people suffered smoke inhalation as fire destroyed a home in upper chichester. they were staying at the house after attending the funeral for the homeowner yesterday. the fire broke out at 1:00 a.m. on rodney avenue and it took firefighters more than an hour to get the flames under control and we don't know yet what sparked the blaze and two

children were singed at the lamberton school in the overbrock park section of philadelphia after they ate marijuana laced cookies. one of the kids brought the cookies from home. that prompted a police investigation. and sara bloomquist is live now. >> reporter: a relative of the girl that brought the cookies to school admitted to them she had the cookies at the girl's house and meantime that girl and her friend, her 13-year-old friend were transferred to childrens hospital, they were expected to be treated and released but still at chop as of a short time ago. >> the care takers picking up children at the 1700 block of woodbine avenue today. police say that two 13-year-old girls became quite ill after eating cookies laced with marijuana. >> this is the place where your child is suppose to be safe at.

i'm like oh, i can't believe that. >> a 13-year-old girl handed out the cookies she brought from home to two classmates, both 13 a boy and girl and the boy threw the cookie away after smelling it and the girl ate here's and immediately became sick. >> she said she ate a cookie given to her by another student and felt high. >> soon after the girl that brought the cookies to school went to the nurses office with the same symptoms. >> they were severely vomiting and glazed eyes and symptoms of being high from this marijuana. >> police tell "action news" the relative of the girl that brought the cookies to school admitted to having them in the home where the student lives and said they were medicinal purposes and then said she bought them at a party. >> it looks like the parent or guardian that lives in the home plaer possesses the items that

police in paulsboro knowledge have a stolen car ring on their hands and the numbers are dramatic. eight car thefts in the past couple of months. jeff has the latest on this -- >> get your car stolen? not me. >> customers at the wawa in paulsboro are on alert after a trio of alleged thieves took off with an idling truck thursday morning.

they are looking for these men they say they led police on a chase earlier but made their way on foot to the store on berkeley road and waited for 30 minutes until an unlucky customer pulled up in a red pickup and they noticed the vehicle was run and they got in the vehicle and left. >> chief says it's the only theft since november. this video from the paulsboro garden apartments shows a guy jump into a running car and drive away and in three cases they brandished a weapon and took a car from a driver if it. >> it's hard with leads when we don't have pictures or someone to identify or point us in the right direction. >> marino doesn't believe the men are from paulsboro but dumping cars here and hoping someone recognizes the picture and calls police. >> if the suspicious call it in.

the delaware and certainly still a lot of ice out there. temperatures are stuck in the 30s today with windchills in the 20s and all eyes are on the linc for the nfc championship on sunday. and look at this. the dog, the underdog is in the house. go eagles. and the weather is not looking too rough at all. and jim likes that, he wanted the dog in the forecast. for the eagles forecast partly cloudy and dry and winds are generally on the light side west northwest 3 miles per hour. and mild for the start of the game 46 degrees and by the enof the game when the eagles win it will be 42 degrees. a big change in the forecast as we head toward the weekend and today there is plenty of cold air, we are at 33 and notice atlanta not much warmer at all. 37 degrees and frost warnings across central florida, and plenty of cold air in place and switch this and look at last year globely. there was a lot of warm air.
