pederson will handle that spotlight. of course bill bell check has been there, done that many times and here's pederson in just his second year as eagles head coach. nobody could have predicted this. feels like nobody could have predicted the eagles would blow out the vikings 38 to seven yesterday and a year in which basically they have an all pro roster on ir. let's take a look at what happened yesterday. it did happen. on the arm of nick foles as he said he played an almost perfect game. in the second half he actually was perfect 11 for 11, 144 yards, two touchdowns, a perfect 158.3 passer rating. foles taking the birds to the super bowl, the celebration electric underdogs proving everyone wrong. maybe the biggest underdog of them all the head coach. pederson two years ago so many questioned the hire. well, he answered the doubters and check out his smile when i caught up with him on the field right after the trophy

love to the land of a thousand lakes, "action news" reporter bob brooks is live in minneapolis and bob, minneapolis looks just about as cold as one would expect but a whole lot of philadelphiaians are making plans to join you. >> reporter: nothing says welcome to the northern part of our country and minnesota specifically minneapolis like a blizzard. now we know the super bowl isn't for about two weeks away right now so hopefully this will all be cleared up and maybe warm up and melt some of this stuff right now but i'll tell you what, i wouldn't have it any other way to come to visit the twin cities for my first time. now i think it's appropriate to show everyone the backdrop here and what it looks like. there's the city skyline. you can see we are in the middle of a blizzard right now. traffic's stuck here. the roads are covered. visibility at a low when you're trying to look up into those beautiful sky scrapers right now but i'll tell you what we couldn't be more excited up here to begin our

coverage in minneapolis for super bowl lii and learn about the twin cities, learn about everything there is up here and then bring it to everyone back home in the delaware valley so they can make their preparations before they come up here. now on the way over here in the airport i spoke with some minnesota vikings fans. they had some encouraging words for anyone thinking about making the trek to super bowl lii. let's take a listen. >> it's a great town. our fans are going to treat you well. a lot of pride in minnesota, a lot of pride for the team and we wish you guys the best. better beat the patriots. >> we have the mall of america. there's a lot of culture, a lot of good restaurants, great city life, urban life, all over. >> reporter: a very exciting time indeed. another look out here on marquette avenue right in downtown where we're staying, jim. the roads are covered, it's abelard snowstorm but i'll tell you what some of the people i spoke with say according to one of the hotel workers he called this storm

david muir will have more on the efforts to get the federal government working again. that is next at 6:30 right after "action news." fire tragedy has shaken bridgeton new jersey to its core. three people including two children were killed overnight when fire attacked a two story dwelling. "action news" reporter christie ileto is live at the scene. christie. >> reporter: well, jim, tonight we've learned that that family did not have smoke detectors in their home. had they had those life saving devices firefighters police officer this would have been a different story. this is video from earlier this morning. the panicked calls for help came just before 2:00 a.m. firefighters found this two story home fully engulfed in flames, the deadly blaze is believed to have started in a second floor apartment where that family of six lived. we're told three of those six family members were trapped in the fire, two children, a five-year-old boy and a six-year-old girl, along with their 28-year-old father died in that inferno. their mother and 10 month old sibling managed to escape along with their 33-year-old

>> the federal corruption trial of the mayor of allentown is now under way. during opening statements today, prosecutors told the jury that ed pawlowski "sold his office to campaign donors." the government alleges the democrat traded city contracts for cash to fuel his political ambitions. pawlowski's attorney denied any illegal activity. he called the mayor a moral person and claimed the prosecutors relied on morally bankrupt witnesses to build their case.

jury selection for bill cosby sexual assault trial this time around montgomery county prosecutors and cosby's new defense team have agreed to seek a local jury. cosby has pleaded not guilty to drugging and molesting a woman in 2004. his retrial begins april 2nd. the pennsylvania supreme court has struck down the state's congressional map. it is a victory for democrats who argued the 18 districts were unconstitutionally gerrymandered to benefit republicans. the ruling has immediate implications for the 2018 election. those considering runs for office may no longer live in districts in which they're campaigning. the justices ruled that lawmakers have until february 9th to pass a replacement map and keep the may 15th primary election on track. philadelphia police are searching for two men tonight who robbed a doughnut store in the frankford section of the city and who shot an employee.

police say the men walked into tasty donuts in the 1500 block of pratt street yesterday and pulled a gun on the cashier. another employee tried to run out of the store and was shot in the back. she was taken to jefferson torresdale hospital in critical condition. the suspects got away with $500 cash. septa is fully transitions to its keycard system. as of today, riders can no longer buy tokens at the market frankford and broad street line stations. key cards are free with a $10 minimum load. tokens will be sold at major septa sales offices and regional rail stations until march. a street in port richmond has been renamed in honor of a local charity. almond street is now storm heavens way. the organization was started by the family of philomena dinardo who lost her battle to disease last year. they're trying to raise awareness of the disease and

>> [inaudible] >> before the rain it's very mild. let's go live on sky6 taking a look toward the ben franklin bridge which is lit up at the top and the bottom in eagles green. a lot of folks out there doing some skating on the river rink on this very mild monday but double scan live showing there's a powerful system that's heading our way. the northern flank, a lot of cold air so, yes, minneapolis where bob brooks is getting about a foot of snow but we're in the warm sector so what i'm tracking is this cold front that will bring us a round of rain and kind of bad timing with this right in time for the morning commute.

so, we're issuing accuweather alerts for your morning commute for the rain. we're looking at generally about a half inch to an inch of rain and there is a possibility we get some isolated thunderstorms that actually could have some damaging winds. it's going to be kind of a wild tuesday morning but it's coming off a very mild weekend and monday. saturday with all that sunshine 57 degrees. sunday dropped to 53. today soared up to 62 degrees. that's 22 degrees above normal, only 8 degrees shy of our record high. the reason why we're getting all that warm air, we have a surge of winds out of the south ahead ahead of that cold front. that continues tomorrow. tomorrow's high again about 62. the clouds are rolling in and there's that rain that's heading through the ohio valley. so, tonight the clouds will thicken, fog developing and we will have the showers moving in in the wee hours of the morning, probably about 3, 4 o'clock in the morning. overnight lows, though, actually warmer than the normal high for this time of the year. 46 in philadelphia, cape may 44, allentown 42 and

wilmington 44. so we're talking about rain. no freezing rain, no snow or ice. future tracker showing it's all about the timing, though. bad timing for the morning commute. at 5 o'clock, the showers generally north and west of philadelphia. by 8:30, it's pouring around philadelphia, the i-95 corridor and the rain continues up until about lunchtime. around lunchtime perhaps some gusty thunderstorms and then the bulk of the rain pushing off the coast by the afternoon and then just a few lingering showers. the evening commute a lot better than the morning commute. so, as far as rain, kind of depends on where you are. looks like the focus of the heaviest rain will be north and west of philadelphia. the poconos, bad news for the ski resorts, could get about an inch of rain. allentown .85. philadelphia probably about three-quarters of an inch of rain. then we get farther down to the south, wildwood probably about a quarter inch of rain but we do have a better chance of some gusty thunderstorms south of philadelphia, temperatures a little bit warmer. there will be a little bit

more lift. so, there's an isolated chance of some severe thunderstorms. south of philadelphia, this is where we could have some damaging wind gusts. again, does not look to be widespread. isolated and likely centered around lunchtime so certainly something we'll be watching ahead of the cold front and behind that front we really do cool off by the middle of the week. so, the exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast, mild temperatures, 62 degrees but that morning rain, again, generally about a half inch to an inch of rain. some gusty thunderstorms possible, perhaps with some damaging winds. by the afternoon, though, we clear things out, we see some peeks of sunshine but then temperatures begin to fall on wednesday much winds shift out of the northwest so that's a cooler flow of air. bit of a shock to the system, about 20 degrees cooler but 42 is still a couple degrees above normal. good amount of sunshine on wednesday. thursday will be the coolest day of the week. the afternoon high only 37 degrees. it will be dry, mostly sunny but we don't stay cool very

long. on friday, it's sunny, it's still chilly but seasonable with a high of 40 degrees and it looks like we have another very mild weekend on the way. saturday, it's breezy with winds out of the southwest. increasing clouds. the afternoon high up to 54 degrees. sunday even warmer with a high of 59 degrees. but it comes at a cost. we cloud up with periods of rain developing, especially in the afternoon and monday morning some rain, then drying by the afternoon with a high of 50 degrees. you look at those seven days, it really doesn't look like late january but there are indications the cold air will be returning right in time for super bowl weekend. >> why not. >> good timing. >> get us right in the minneapolis rainy month. school district of philadelphia still looking for teachers and counselors for next year. they opened the application process a month earlier than last year. the district says they have a specific need for special education, stem and bilingual spanish teachers and letters
