where they reportedly found the body of a 49-year-old woman dead since mon. we'll have more on this coming up on "action news" at 6:00. a man was ambushed and shot execution-style in east mt. airy overnight. and the victim's girlfriend and two young children were a few feet away in the apartment when it happened. here on the 800 block of east vernon road. the detectives don't have a motive or suspects yet. police in newcastle county, delaware least 14 cars were vandalized and that the windows were shot out by a bb gun and done in several neighborhoods like radnor woods and holiday hills. and a woman says this is the second time in two weeks their cars were hit. >> the car behind me and both of my son's cars. they don't know the damage or frustration or the fear that it puts into a family because you never know when something is going to happen. >> police in newcastle county

to stop the vehicle in the first place. people gathered across the country tonight to count the number of homeless in every community and city in america. this homeless count happens once a year and the number of people that live in a shelter or on the street is sent to the federal government and that information determines the amount of funding that each state gets to help the homeless. in new jersey monarch county associates coordinates the counts. and police in cumberland county will have a new building they broke ground on plum street for the new vineland headquarters, the two story state of the art facility will be 280,000 square feet. and will have a forensic garage and separate entrances for the police and the public. now to matt pellman in the traffic center with what is rolling and what is not.

to olympic athletes. and at a local high school a bb gun is discovered. and how to see the vince lombardi trophy. >> and the details a man known as a once world renounced sports doctor will spend the rest of his life behind bars. a judge sentenced larry nasser to 40 to 175 years in prison after 150 victims including olympians gave tearful statements in court. zachary keiths joins us with more on the sentencing. >> reporter: yes, we have heard these horrific stories from the last week from young women failed not just by institutions but by people. to know they are heard and begin the healing process. >> i'm giving you 175 years

days. >> and in an open letter to olympics usa. >> now nasser is dealing with the 60 year federal sentence, today's sentence all but guarantees he will spend the rest of his life behind bars. back to you. >> zachary thank you. there were no classes today at marshall county high school in kentucky. where a student opened fire yesterday killing two students, 18 other students were hurt and three remain in critical condition. police say there were more than 100 students collected at a popular gathering spot in the school when the 15-year-old gunman opened fire. >> i can't explain it. flashbacks are coming back of this kid. i can hear the gunshots. >> the student is charged with murder and attempted murder tonight. investigators have been in the home and talked to his family but have not yet talked about a

possible motive. >> meantime a close call in the german town section of philadelphia. after someone brought a bb gun to school. someone came to school with a gun and officials locked down the building during the investigation and used k-9 dogs to search the building. two students were taken into custody as first. and no other weapons were found besides the bb gun. and chopper 6 hd is over the scene as police investigated what was believed to be an altercation inside of the donuts queen on oxford avenue in the frankford section that someone fired or dropped a gun that went off in here and the man was taken into custody. and no reported injuries. police in delaware took two people into custody on weapons charges following the search of a home in the dover area. delaware state police along with members of the kent county drug

unit and the task force arrested sylvester gould and kimberly martin following the search of a home in dover. a handgun and hooded mask andself rounds of ammunition. gould is held on several weapons charges and martin released on $1,000 bail. and the race for state senate in the 12th district will feature a familiar name. he put his hat in the ring for the seat vacated by his father. the 37-year-old green leaf made the announcements from his home in willow grove surrounded by his family today and believes that jobs and education go hand in hand. >> job creators want an area that will not only have basic, strong basic education and strong community colleges and vocational schools to have the workforce that is prepared. >> no word yet on challenge greenleaf for his

played out at the apartment complex behind me and for the most part people tell me it's a quiet building and no one suspected a murder where they live. and police are revealing more details after a 49-year-old woman was murdered by her son at the avenue at east fall as long wissahickon avenue and the victim is identified as tammy blunt and the suspect is malaki white. >> he has some mental health issues and he was not taking his medication and will be charged with murder and other offenses. >> investigators believe he lived with his mother's body for days and she died of blunt force trauma. and she found her body while responding to a welfare check. residents are in disbelief. >> it's messed up. there is nothing else to say. >> i don't even know.
