decades. simon saying i'm so sorry that a trusted renowned physician was such an evil person. it comeses as the university is questioning how it could continue for so long and how the school handled the allegations. >> it's sad to know our school has a bad name and the only national news we've been making is all the indicates against larry nassar. >> hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. >> reporter: a judge sentencing nassar. >> i'm giving you 175 years. i've just signed your death warrant. >> reporter: the court erupting with applause and accusers saying it was sexual abuse under the guise of medical treatment. during the sentencing 156 women and girls, some of them olympic champions, sharing their stories of abuse. >> i can't even comprehend how angry i feel when i think of you. >> little girls don't stay little forever. they grow into strong women that return to destroy your world.

lawsuits against michigan state university and usa gymnastics. turning now to the latest development in the russia investigation, president trump says he's looking forward to speaking with special counsel robert mueller. the president told reporters he's willing to talk under oath as soon as possible if his lawyers approve and we've spoken to his lawyer overnight. abc's kenneth moton has the latest. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, maggie. the press was having an off the record session with john kelly when president trump dropped in and made some big headlines. the president saying his interview with the special counsel could happen in two to three weeks. president trump left the white house bound for switzerland, a couple of hours before appearing eager for a possible interview with special counsel robert mueller. >> i'm looking forward to it actually. >> yeah. do you have a date set? >> just so you understand there's been no collusion. >> you would do it under oath. >> i would do it under oath. >> reporter: his lawyer saying mr. trump was speaking hurriedly

and that arrangements are still being worked out. it's raising questions about whether his team is zeroing in on possible obstruction of justice. >> there's no obstruction whatsoever and i'm looking forward to it. >> reporter: another headline from that west wing q&a trump opening up citizenship to d.r.e.a.m.ers after a 10 to 12-year period. >> i think it's a better issue for the republicans than it is for the democrats. >> reporter: they're back to negotiating a deal to address the fate of nearly 800,000 undocumented immigrants brought to the u.s. as children. senate democratic leader chuck schumer pulled his offer to fully fund trump's southern border wall in exchange for the d.r.e.a.m.ers. >> schumer says the wall is off the table. do you believe him? >> no, i don't. i can tell you this, if you don't have a wall you don't have daca. >> trump set a march 5th deadline to end the daca program. he now says he's open to extending the deadline if a deal

is within sight. maggie and kendis. republican lawmakers are claiming a so-called secret society at the fbi may be working to undermine the president. the claim stems from text messages sent between fbi officials, peter strzok and lisa page, after the election saying they were depressed that trump had won. page wrote, quoting here, are you even going to give out your calend calendars? seems kind of depressing. maybe it should just be the first meeting of the secret society. it's unclear whether that reference was made in jest. in the meantime, wisconsin senator johnson says a whistle-blower said managers held secret off-site meetings but did not elaborate about what they may have entailed. five months of text messages between strzok and page are missing and the justice department blames all of that on a technical glitch which reportedly affected thousands of fbi phones. john kerry may be ready to run for the white house again.

a newspaper in israel reports kerry strongly is considering taking on president trump in 2020 and is urging the palestinians not to give in to trump's demands. breaking news where a commuter train has derailed outside of milan, italy, killing at least two people. several others are seriously injured. officials say two cars jumped the tracks and slammed into each other. some of the photos just coming in right now. rescue crews moved carefully through the wreckage to help shaken passengers escape. back in this country a sheriff's deputy has been shot and killed in the line of duty north of denver. deputies responded to an assault and one suspect shot one of the deputies in the chest. two other suspects escaped. this brings the number of gun-related law enforcement deaths in the country to four. geologists discovered a earthquake faultline running through the heart of beverly hills and rodeo drive and believe it could produce a

magnitude 7 earthquake which would be especially damaging in such a densely populated area. the discovery is shaking up construction plans thanks to a state law banning new building on top of fault lines. time now for a look at your weather this thursday morning. a strong storm in the pacific northwest from seattle to northern california. it's bringing wind, rain and isolated flooding to coastal areas and snow to the mountains. in the midwest mississippi river is cold enough that lookal this, fault eagles are now hitching rides south on these huge chunks of floating ice. looking at today's temperatures mostly moderate across the country. won't get above freezing in boston and 36 degrees here in new york. coming up, one school's new idea to make sure students are on time every day.

week's deadly high school shooting in kentucky will be tried as an adult. the school is still considered a crime scene and still closed. we're now hearing from the parents, though, of a 15-year-old victim, bailey holt. >> whatever that kid had going through his mind, i don't know, but if he needed a friend, i know she would have been a friend to him. >> yes. >> and talked to him about anything he needed. because that's just the kind of person she was. >> in fact, her parents called bailey a perfect angel who knew she wanted to become a nurse and help deliver babies. several victims of the attack remain hospitalized. lawmakers in florida are pushing a proposal that would allow the state to observe daylight saving time all year long. if congress approves, florida residents would never have to reset their clocks and could enjoy more time in the sun but it also means that at the height of winter, sunrise would be as late as 8:30 a.m.
