a lot of it gets done in this building. we know a thing or two about malls in the philadelphia region we've got the king of prussia mall, that is huge so is this place. what an incredible complex this is, a destination not just in this region but in fact the number one tourist destination in all of the midwest. we took a look inside today. take a look. this week the mall of america has beecátransformed into super bowlzv central. its meandering hallways radio row it's convention space convertd into a media center and every inch of wall reminding visitors that oh, yeah, there's a big game this week but this mall is a destination year round with 2.5 million aquare feet of retail space it's home to 500 stores. more than any other mall in america. and as they like to say here,. >> you can't find something in this building, they don't make it. >> the mall of america is the number one tourist destination in the midwest. more than a half a billion visitors streaming through its doors since it opened back in 1992. in fact on any given day, the mall becomes minnesota's third

will develop as we go tracking periods of snow that here's storm tracker6 liveg7 double scan radar 3-d. you can see this coastal low, area of low pressure across the coast producing rain showers across coastal sections of new jersey and also into delaware, the northern tier of that precipitation in philadelphia not working its way down to the surface. you look off to the west however we're tracking another trough of low pressure moving across the great lakes and the ohio valley. with in we are expecting some snow to arrive from a west-east direction by tuesday. so, in the wake of that you air, 25 in chicago, 31 saint louis. it's 43 here in philadelphia. so not too cold across the delaware and lehigh valleys but we'll track that precipitation to your. future tracker6 showing that you area of low pressure actually departing to our north and east and once that does so we'll track this area of low pressure to the west. that will work its way eastward but you notice by 8 o'clock tomorrow morning, we have a bit of a lull here in philadelphia with the snow mainly confined to our northwest suburbs then it

fills in as the day wears on. so, we've issued that accuweather alert and this isp2n what we can expect. the coastal low moves in tonight so some rain is likely across areas in south jersey. then some snow showers toç the south and east. localized across new jersey you could find coating to about an inch but that surface trough moves in from a west-east west direction on tuesday. >> melissa we'll check back in later. thank you. "action news" is learning new details about an officer-involved shooting that stopped an attacker in southñ% philadelphia. police say detectives opened fire as the driver tried to mow down pedestrians in a very chaotic scene. the identification of the virginia man who raised so much cane here in south philadelphia this morning before dying at police hands. was he a terrorist? or some other kind of deranged individual? police are still trying to figure it out. around 7:30 this morning police were alerted to man driving his black honda south on broad apparently trying to run over pedestrians. by the time he got to bigler and broad, he had succeeded. >> right here at broad and bigler did in fact run somebody over, struck the male, the male flipped up onto his -- the hood of his car. >> reporter: driving on his pickup truck an off duty police officer who saw the incident and went after the out of control driver. a confrontation ensued. >> he saw the commotion. he engages the male. the male gets out of the car and immediately attacks the off duty detective. at that point the off duty detective had his firearm in his possession. >> reporter: the officer and the suspect scuffle before the officer fired more than 10

times hitting the suspect once in the head police say. the suspect whose identification says he lives in arlington, virginia, was pronounced dead by 10:15. the officer treated for abrasions to the face and back of his head and a shoulder injury. that earlier pedestrian who was hit was treated and returned home to medford, new jersey. this woman who lives on the corner heard the commotion and ran to see what had happened. >> we heard loud music and a lot of gunshots. and by the time we -- i ran down the steps, there was people scurrying all over the street. cars were blocking in cars and we seen a gentleman laying on the ground. that suspect was driving had maryland tags but he is not listed as the owner. withñs

whatsoever between broadway and lind wall. -- lindenwold. about 5:30 this morning a patco train struck this pole. it's believed a conrail train earlier struck the pole and caused it to be leaning so patco train near the ferry avenue station smacks into this pole and as a result all day long we've had very limited service on the patco high speedline. njt as a result is cross honoring patco tickets. you can ride a new jersey transit bus once you get over to broadway and camden. again limited service between center city and broadway. no service between broadway and lindenwold. had a crash along the route 11 trolley tracks. residual delays there even though the crash is gone and the 102 trolley has 15 minute eastbound delays because of earlier equipment problems there. 95 northbound side approaching the walt whitman bridge serious accident here. three lanes blocked. it's jammed coming north of the airport. let's grab the ipad check your ways home with the waze app on this monday afternoon.

franklinville, salem county a crash along 40 harding highway east of taylor road jammed up in that area. we'll check it again rick coming up in the next half hour. >> see you then. thanks matt. two vacant buildings are being torn to the ground in wilmington to make room for new homes. crews demolished the old row homes here on the unit block of east 22nd street. the wilmington land bank project and habitat for humanity will work together to build six houses on the lot and strengthen the neighborhood. they'll be made available as affordable housing for first time homeowners. >> a double thumbs up for three philadelphia schools today from the big bosses. back now and getting a reminder that winter is far from over. >> yeah, that's right. some light snow showers are on the way as we go throughout the day on and off guys. we'll talk about the details and walk over to the weather center show you the picture outside sky6 live in hd as we're looking at the commodore barry bridge on this monday after. lots of clouds around today and despite the clouds, temperatures were seasonable across much of the delaware and lehigh valleys albeit a little cooler than yesterday. here's storm tracker6 live double scan radar we're tracking some light precipitation. we'll pop this out full so you can get a better look. you can see that moisture there in south jersey and mays landing, even into sea isle city and cape may on westward into fortescue, also some light rain moving into delaware. so, we'llvp be tracking this as we go throughout the overnight hours as that area of low e)essure moves off to our north and east. as far as the temperatures right now 43 in philadelphia, same thing in allentown, 40 in the poconos. cape may 41, dover 43.

42 degrees in lancaster. so, satellite6 along with action radar showing you we're tracking two batches of moisture, the first with that area of low pressure providing us with the light rain as we speak down in south jersey and delaware. this heads on off to our north and east. and then we're tracking this upper level trough that moves in as we get into tuesday from a west-east direction so we'll map it out for you. future tracker6 showing you during the overnight hours there's rain at the coast and some of that rain could mix with some snow as the area of low pressure departs on the backside. a lullaby 7 o'clock in the morning along the i-95 metro area and you notice by 7:00 a.m., that snow starting to approach our western suburbs. by 1 o'clock in the afternoon we have periods of snow across much of the delaware and lehigh valleys but i want you to keep in mind temperatures will be above freezing, so we're not dealing with high accumulations here. 7:00 p.m. tomorrow that moisture starting to depart from a west-east direction. so expected snow totals, we'll talk about first that one to 2 inches for areas in burlington and ocean county as that first area of low

pressure pulls away and departs on the backside. that's where that could pick up that one to two. but overall on tuesday, a coating to an inch for philadelphia, most of new jersey and delaware and one to 2 inches for areas in northern chester, montgomery and bucks and points to the north and west where you do have higher elevations that will enhance the snowfall to our north and west. the four day at 4:00 showing you tomorrow we've issued that accuweather alert. the snow on and off throughout the day, it will be windy too a high temperature of 37. on wednesday brisk and cold a high of just 35. on thursday, 48 degrees, milder with rain developing at night providing us with snow as we get into friday morning into some sunshine by the afternoon with a high of 33. we've got more details coming up at 4:30. >> thanks melissa. >> more eagles coverage when "action news" comes right back. >> ♪ time to

sunday night. >> we have been busy exploring and getting a lay of the land sewn are the players. we were out in the mall of america as we are right now and we ran into defensive standout fletcher cox. i took an opportunity to speak with him one-on-one. yes, we talked football but we also had a little bit of fun as i asked him about his teammates. i'm talking with fletcher cox of course the heart of the philadelphia eagles defense. let's talk about your d line men a little bit, shall we? who would you say is like the funniest? >> the funniest guy right now i'll give to it chris long. he always got a comeback for something but everybody in that room got jokes and that's the most thing about that room, we joke around but we also know when it's time to get serious. >> who spends the most time on social media. >> oh, definitely chris long by far. oh, no, maybe brandon graham on his instagram. >> yeah, brandon graham on the gram. >> brandon graham on the gram.

our tuesday. we'll show you the picture outside. sky6 live in hd looking at our center city skyline from temple university camera you can see lots of clouds.clouds in that area of low pressure into tonight@ and then tomorrow we're that moisture t moves in from a direction that will trigger the snowfall. so, as far as the different models we look at when we're dealing with snowfall and estimates, most of the models have less than an inch and that's pretty much what we are thinking about a coating to an inch and general across the region there could be some locally higher amounts across the higher terrain to our north and west. we've got more details on that comingáez up with the accuweathr forecast rick. >> melissa thankréé you. check back in later. in other news this afternoon we're learning more about a quadruple shooting that's rocked a community in berks county. four young men were gunned gown in an apartment in reading last night leaving friends families and neighbors reeling. lehigh valley correspondent walter perez has been talking to those who knew the victims

today and he's live near the scene of the murders with the very latest. walter. >> reporter: rick, as you can see police are still on the scene here. investigators say they believe the victims were targeted, all of them were shot repeatedly and police officials here say it has been a long time since they've investigated a murder case of this magnitude in reading. the families of the four young men killed inside this apartment in reading, gathered at the scene of the murders to grieve their loss. for some, the grief was more than they could handle. among those murdered was 23-year-old juan rodriguez. we spoke with her mother who said despite that personal setbacks her son was dedicated to building a better life for himself. >> he survive a liver transplant. he been in college. 2had the liver problems and now

this happen. >> reporter: also killed were 20-year-older? lynn tejada and 20-year-old joshua santos. the fourth victim has not yet been identified. investigators say it occurred at about 6:45 last evening. someone or possibly a group of people opened fire inside the first floor apartment at 1:23 south third street. three of the victims were pronounced dead at the scene, a fourth died later at reading hospital. reading police officials say this is the worst shooting they've dealt with in a long time. >> we cannot remember any time in recent history where this many people were shot at one time. >> and as loved ones release balloons in honor of those killed, they can only pick up the pieces of what remains behind. >> he's a good kid. he working. he amazing. amazing father.

and we are told juan rodriguez leaves behind a one-year-old son. so far no suspects, no arrests. anyone with anyn1"ñ informations om reading,ll%q police. walter channel6 "action news." monica. >> thank you walter. the man accused of killing a tow truck driver in a hit-and-run last night has now been identified. pennsylvania state police arrested emanuel doxy in connection with the death of 32-year-old michael house on the schuylkill expressway. house who worked for k and s together was hooking up a disabled car near the belmont avenue exit when he wasç struck. police say 35-year-old doxy kept going. house died a short time later. doxy is now facing a number of charges. four people were hurt when this patter company -- patco the leaning near its path. the impact forced officials to shut down all service for a advertisement limited service has now resumed. patco authori commuters should eta÷8wñ:í

>> ♪ >> well, it didn't take long for karma to come for a team of thieves in washington state. take a look. female thief ran up to someone's home to steal their packages but slipped and hurt herself as she was running away. she couldn't get up, she couldn't walk. she stalk there lying on the front lawn. finally her male accomplice came up and had to help carry her to their get away vehicle. the man did come back to get the packages. the homeowner told police there was expensive medicine in one of the boxes. the thieves remain on the loose and the woman likely on the mend. >> ♪ >> time now for big talkers beginning with the investigation into a highly offensive sign that was put up outside an indiana church. >> take a look at the message that was up in front of emanuel baptist church. it read, "top sexual harassment wear clothes." the church and local media

were flooded with complaints. >> pretty much any female regardless of shape, size, color, race what they look like, what they dries like have been a victim of some time of sexual harassment in the past so it's just completely, you know, inappropriate and out of line for anybody or any entity to put that message out there. >> the pastor has since apologized ordering the sign taken down immediately. he maintains he does not know who put it up and claims he did not give approval for the message in the first place. >> now to an update on the story animal lovers were up in arms about. this was the video that made several concerned folks in one oregon town call police. it shows a cat riding on the hood of a car a moving car. the cat's leash is attached to the wind she'd wipers. the car was gone by the time officers arrived but they launched an investigation into possible animal cruelty. less than a week later now the owner of that car riding kitty has come forward. it's jersey dorsett. he says not only does his cat

seen in the video hang out on the hood but his other two felines dixie and mr. jinx do the same. the cat who went right lane named pixie liked it the best but he says all three love it and have been riding since they were kittens. court set says they wear safety gear including a little harness and reflective vest. >> i don't want them jumping forward in front of the car when it's moving. of course that would be really dangerous and they normally just stay close to the windshield in the middle of the hood and traveling couple miles an hour they enjoy it. >> or at least he thinks they do as you heard dorsett says he never let the cats ride on the hood at high speed or busy highways. the police say they're okay with it. >> okay. they're okay with it. matt pelman who drives a cadillac has the latest on the traffic situation. >> very slowly. >> very slowly, yes, of course. >> very slowly. this ride home is not the cat's meow. we'll check in with 95 south. we have a crash.

it's not a catastrophe. let's think about alternates to northbound 95. maybe the platt bridge over to the schuylkill eastbound but just 7 miles per hour coming north of the airport through that accident scene approaching the walt whitman bridge where two lanes remain out of commission. traffic light troubles along hunting park avenue close to broad street. they've been fixed now so you're good to go in that next of the woods. a couple accidents in bucks county. one is in springfield township close to lucky's produce along richland one to pike. use 212 quakertown red instead this afternoon and in doylestown serious crashes along swamp road near the 611 bypass. over in camden county have a wreck on the southbound side of 295 approaching the black horse pike, single digit speeds there as you come south of 70. think about using kings highway or the southbound turnpike instead and trying to ride the trains into new

weather center, sky6 live in hd looking at the ben franklin bridge on this monday afternoon and we've got that mostly cloudy sky overhead. looking at the weather headlines, three snow chances over the next seven days. a cold start to the first couple of days of february and many days stuck in the 30's. right now it's 43 in the city, same thing in allentown and reading. 42 in trenton. down in cape may 40 and the lower 40's for millville and dover. here's the big picture as we look at storm tracker6 live double scan radar you can see we do have some light rain showers right now. a lot of this in philadelphia points to the north and west not working its way down to the surface but some light rain there in south jersey and also for areas in delaware. that's all in association with this area of low pressure just up the coast. satellite6 along with action radar showing that you coastal low that for the most part is going to jog on off to our north and east but as it does so, it could clip some of our southern sections and southeastern sections with some light rain and some snowfall on the backside.

this is what we're tracking however as we get into tuesday. this area of low pressure, a trough of low pressure coming out of the great lakes and the ohio valley. so, future tracker6 showing you 7 o'clock in the morning, you notice that area of low pressure along the coast departs and on the backside ocean county, even southern burlington could pick up some light snow. but by 7 o'clock tomorrow morning, from the west, you could see reading lancaster where temperatures are a little bit below freezing, it could be slow going for the commute early tomorrow morning there. then 1 o'clock in the afternoon as temperatures climb above freezing in most locations, we are looking at roads to be primarily wet. but here's what happens as we get into 7 o'clock tomorrow evening. that area of low pressure departs and look at these numbers. 25 allentown, 25 reading, 28 degrees in philadelphia. so, anywhere where we do have some leftover precipitation and these numbers dip below 32 degrees there could be some slick spots to watch out for. so overall we'll talk about what we can expect with this accuweather alert tomorrow and the key timing. mid morning to midafternoon,

temperatures will be above freezing in many locations at that time. minimal travel impacts the biggest concerns will be north and west and those suburbs. so, we'll talk about a expected snowfalls and break this down for you. that one to 2 inches of snow for areas in south jersey covers that first initial band of moisture that rides off to our north and east. elsewhere about a coating to an inch in most locations, philadelphia included in. higher elevations one to 2 inches of snow and this is where you have a concern for lancaster reading allentown up to the poconos where there could be some issues in the morning and some slick spots. here's the exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast. accuweather alert tomorrow, light snow turning windy high temperature of 37. wednesday brisk and cold 35. thursday milder with a high of 48, rain developing at night. that transitions over to morning snow on friday to some sun at 33. 31 on saturday, rain and snow showers sunday for the super bowl 41 and clouds and sun on monday, guys, a high of 36. >> all right.
