football landscape. it is monday night and the big story on "action news" tonight is super bowl lii and the eagles grip on the tri-state area's attention. if you are not a football fan this week, we can say safely that you are absolutely positively -- well, you never will be and we have the situation well covered in the land of a thousand lakes. brian taff and sharrie williams are staked out at the mall of america but first ducis rodgers and jaime apody are live at the excel energy center in saint paul where they will hold media night tonight. guys, what is the story with the team on this their first fall day in minnesota? >> reporter: well, jim, they had a little workout this morning and then some team meetings, a walk through. they're keeping busy and they're probably resting up because tonight, well, it's when all the hoopla begins. behind us at the excel energy center. this is super bowl opening night an estimated 5,000 media members will gather to ask the

6:02 pm
to do in the coming days? >> we've had two weeks to get ready for this and, you know, we can't just -- as far as two weeks out, i think it's hard to really stay focused for two weeks honest. i think this week is the most important week. this week it's really big for us. >> reporter: all right, for now six days out from super bowl lii against the patriots. you got to feel like the game plan is intact but you know those coaches constantly tinkering. i'm sure doug pederson will be watching film until the last day. >> i think he left 15 percent, i don't know how he can mathematically get that to keep the guys focused and fresh. for ducis rodgers i'm jaime apody live outside excel energy center the home of super bowl opening night for channel6 "action news." jim i'll send it back to you. >> thank you guys. let's switch live to nearby bloomington minnesota and the mall of america which

of leasable area and to put that into perspective that means three u.s. bank stadiums would fit inside. it's home to more than 500 stores and, yes, it's an economic power house. on any given day, enough shop ertz come in and out of this mall that it would qualify, get this, as the third largest city in the state of minnesota and they spend each shopper spending an average of 162 bucks when they come here. that adds up. half a billion shoppers have streamed in these doors since they opened in 1992, that's 44 million people a year, spending just about $500 million and, yes, this is the single biggest tourist attraction in all of the midwest. but guess what, this week, we're happy not to be the center stage but rather to be the backdrop to an either bigger show, the showdown sunday night eagles-patriots super bowl lii. >> yeah, and of course with the birds being in the super bowl there is a lot being said about eagles fans. you know, the attitude, the

[laughter] >> there it is. come on by, eagles fans, we know you're heading up for the big game, up and over to see the birds take the field. so, minnesota promising to be nice. >> that was a loaded question to ask him, what do you think about us.
