breaking news at this hour. "action news" has learned that democratic congressman, bob brady will not run for re-election. the word comes from brady's attorney, today the congressman is expected to hold a press availability at 1:30 this afternoon we'll bring you it to you live on the air and at 6abc.com. once again long time democratic congressman bob brady that served 11 terms in office has decided not to run for re-election. he has been in office since 199 and the attorney tells us the decision is not related the corruption charges against his aides last year. we'll bring you more information as soon as it becomes available to us. turning to accuweather on a cool and windy wednesday. as we look live outside from sky 6 hd, the view from spring mountain a brisk breeze make its feel well below freezing and david murphy is tracking the

latest conditions and joins us from the weather center with a first check of the forecast. >> right now we have sunshine in play across the region although clouds are getting closer and clouds thicken up as the day goes on. right now 25 in philadelphia and 27 if trenton and 23 in allentown. these are the coldest temperatures we have experienced in the last week or so. we'll certainly wind up below average. a wind blowing 13 to 20 miles per hour and giving a windchill of 19 degrees so it feels more uncomfortable out there. and do a better job of getting the layers together and wear a good coat. and extra gear like gloves and hats. temperatures today are going to fluctuate and only get up to 35 degrees or there abouts and then sliding back to the freezing mark later this evening.

and there is a chance that they bump up later tonight and a turn from the northwest with milder air for tomorrow. for today winds 10 to 20 miles per hour and the windchills making it feel like the mid-20s for the rest of the afternoon and evening and getting down into the low 20s for a time later on tonight. as we look at temperatures across the region there is that mild air and you start to draw a southerly flow you see what is waiting for us. we get the numbers to rise and by tomorrow afternoon we are well into the 40s that feels better than today. and the other shot of cold air coming down from the northern central plains, the same shot that will get things cold in minneapolis for the super bowl and that is also going to transition to the east quickly as we head into friday and saturday. i'll have details on all of that and the latest about possible precipitation coming in for super bowl sunday. details coming up in the seven day. >> thank you. speaking of the super bowl we are less than five-day as way from the big game.

and we just heard from head coach doug peterson in minneapolis. he is celebrating his 50th birthday today. he asked what it was like to reach a milestone at this time in his life. >> my wife is here and my family will be here later in the week ton be able to celebrate this with them and the team, and to be in this game. obviously is an honor. you know, if somehow we can pull out a victory that would be the icing on the cake. >> eagles quarterback nick foles stepped up to the mike this morning and we'll hear from him in the next half hour. another eagles star and his world cup winning wife are back together in minneapolis. you may recall u.s. womens soccer star julie ertz is on the opposite side of the country playing a game in california and found out her husband was going to the super bowl and now

we have more breaking news this noon out of virginia an amtrak train out of virginia carrying members of congress has crashed. we are told that no lawmakers were injured and headed to a retreat in west virginia with their spouses and workers. several congressman tweeted they were okay. we'll have more on this crash as more information becomes available. federal investigators are on the scene in southern california where a helicopter crashed into a home killing three people. it happened in a gated community

in newport beach. two other people were injured during the crash. the ntsb is now investigating. and this into "action news" every member of the usa gymnastics board resigned this morning in the wake of the sex abuse scandal of former team doctor larry nasser. all members were asked to step aside by the olympic committee. and the sports doctor is now underway in lancing, michigan, confronted by roughly 60 people that were his victims. dealing with his actions and adding an elite gymnastics club run by an olympic coach. he was already sentenced to 40 to 175 years in prison earlier this week. actor scott baio denies he

in and trying to catch it before it gets off the coast. now in minneapolis we are looking at cold conditions traveling out later today a high of 31 degrees and then the bottom falls out of the weather pattern in the central northern plains and thursday's high minneapolis-st. paul and saturday about 10 degrees and the chance for morning snow. that should be mainly in the morning and not so much mountain afternoon. by the time we get to super bowl sunday a high of just 6 degrees and partial sunshine and the negative 4 i'm posting there is the windchill and if you head out to minneapolis and plan on doing go old fashion tailgating it's unlike most of the time youed tried it here. and tomorrow 49 and rain in the evening and spilling into friday morning and snowflakes mixed in early and we say hi to phil on friday morning in punxsutawney.
