officials. after these images plunged the west wing into chaos the woman in the photo is taking on the white house. in a "washington post" op-ed colbie holderness, the ex-wife of former staff secretary rob porter says she was living in constant fear and left the relationship a shell of the person i was when i went into it. holderness says she was dismayed when a white house adviser explained why she's not worried about porter's current girlfriend. white house communications director hope hicks. >> i have no reason not to believe the women in the case of hope, i rarely met somebody so strong with such excellent instincts and loyalty and smarts. >> reporter: holderness fired back writing, her statement implies that those who have been in abusive relationships are not strong. recognizing and surviving in an abusive relationship takes stre. she's also calling outte house pressectary sarah sanders. >> dogs he believe rob porter's accusers or are they lying. >> the president and the entire administration take domestic

violence seriously and believe all investigations need to be investigated thoroughly and certainly supporters the victims above all else and believes everybody should be treated fairly. >> that doesn't answer that question. that doesn't answer the question. >> i'm not going to beyond that. that's where we are right now. >> reporter: holderness expressed disappointment in that response saying while i cannot say i am surprised i expected a woman to do better. sources tell abc news hours after the domestic abuse allegations surfaced rob porter tried to downplay the incidents. he told senior staffers his ex-wife's black eye was an accident after an altercation involving a glass vase. kendis and diane. >> all right, that's arlette saenz for us live in d.c., thanks, arlette. attorney general jeff sessions is coming under scrutiny for what he said during a speech to sheriffs around the country. while praising the elected officials at their winter meeting he described the, quote, here anglo-american heritage of law enforcement. a phrase that some claim is racist while others say it is historically accurate.

though some did report minor injuries. investigators are preparing to move the wreckage of the helicopter that crashed in the grand canyon killing three british tourists. they want to know whether the chopper had a crash resistant fuel system which is not standard on that model but may have been added later on. it burst into flames when it crashed on tribal land where tourist flights aren't as regulated as those in the national park itself. scientists are sounding the alarm about rising sea levels. i anew study analyzed more than two decades of satellite data and found that sea levels are rising faster than previously thought. researchers fear the world's oceans could rise 26 inches by the -- higher by the end of the century. now, largely because of melting antarctica and greenland posing a major threat to coastal cities. time now for a look at your weather on this tuesday morning. showers are moving through the
