here is a look at some of the stories we are following for right now on "action news" a building was destroyed in an early morning fire that caused several evacuations in philadelphia's olde city section. we will look at what fire fighters were autopsy begins. we are learning more about the suspect gunman in the florida school massacre. clock is particularring down for thon 2018 but it is still going strong aspen state students, raised money for family's impact by childhood cancer. but first lets g to meteorologist chris soars with snow totals and spring like temperatures popping up >> that is right, clock is ticking down on old man winter as well here we had that snow last night and then temperatures are up in the 40 's already. it is 42 degrees in philadelphia, millville. forty-four cape may, atlantic city. beach haven 43. even lehigh valley area right here hit the hardest with last night's snow that they pick up six and 8 inches places like bethlehem, allentown those areas here, and western portions of, berks county, getting in the huffs churc

area picking up over 7 inches. we are showing 40 degrees here snow starting to melt even poconos 38 degrees this afternoon. looking at satellite and radar there it is, last night's storm sipping on by we have cloud cover left to the west but generally speaking sunny skies across the coastal plane here from richmond, virginia all the way up through philadelphia, new york city, and boston massachusetts. we are looking good out there. forecast for today mostly sunny a few clouds mixed from time to time rest of the way, mild day, high of 48, there will be a bit of the breeze northwest at five to 15 miles an hour so even though thermometer might read 48 degrees it will feel more like mid 40's. headlines looking like this turning mild they are week much, much milder, winter just completely vanishes again and wait until you see numbers in the seven day forecast, unfortunately we are tracking several chances of rain spring like showers, a couple of times this week. i will be back in a few minutes with the detail with the accu weather seven day

forecast, guys. >> chris, thank you. developing this noon a four alarm blaze ripped through a building in philadelphia's olde city section this morning causing residents and hotel guests in the area to evacuate. "action news" reporter bob brooks has been there all morning long, bob, you have very latest information what can you tell us. >> reporter: nydia and gray very unfortunate sad day for, sad people, in injuries to report but a lot of people have lost all of their belongings in this fire. i will step out of the way here and show you you can see it is still going on, battle to put this fire out, and still happening right now, you can see several hoses spraying directly in the building where it started but you can see off into that building next door, smoke still barreling out of that it last like they are trying to get a hose in position to shoot off of that. this is, i want to point over there the fire has now, it looks as if some of the smoke at the very least spread to the buildings around the corner so really impacting

this entire block but again very sad day for so many people, who now have lost their homes. the flames were shooting through window and out of the room, the location, third and chestnut right in the heart of the olde city. building on the corner andthe grabbed her child and ran out. >> it was smoke and it was just seconds. my daughter two and a half years old we ran out. >> reporter: at this point it is too early to tell what the extent of the damage will be but it is extensive. this morning a lot of people, lost their homes, businesses badly damage as well, philadelphia fire commissioner adam tiehl says so far more than 160 people displayed from their homes from the best western hotel. he also said some people didn't initially evacuated when alarms first sounded. >> when we hear fire alarm, get out, don't take your stuff , we are trying to evacuate these building and people are taking their stuff. i understand. it is serious. we don't evacuate a building without good reason. >> luckily today no one was

injured. >> back out here live, another look, at the scene you can see the smoke still coming out, and there there is still battling this i spoke to the family who lives in the top floor of the building that went up in flames today, and they are heart broken. they were in tears hugging each other they are going through a very tough time. they have lost everything they have had down here but good news is that despite the damage down here no one was injured. reporting live from olde city bob brooks, channel six "action news", nydia and gray back to you. ear no injuries. several businessness olde city are closed because of cant fire among the revolution it will be closed to day but plans to reopen tomorrow morning at 10:00 o'clock and restaurant the little lion says it is also closed for the day. announo reopen once owners can assess any possible damage from that fire. this weekend we are learning more about the 19 year-old alleged gunman who shot and killed, 17 people at

a high school in florida last week. the broward county public de fender says nikolas cruz had a history of mental health checks and diagnosed with autism, adhd and depression and cut himself on snap chat while saying he wanted to buy a gun. his defense attorney said cruz will plead guilty if prosecutors agree to take the death penalty off of the table this weekend president donald trump lashing out at fbi saying the agency missed many signals sent by the florida shooter. president trump said on twit ter this is not acceptable , they are spending too much time, trying to prove russian collusion with the trump campaign, there is no collusion, get back to the basic and make us all proud. now the fbi has admitted it failed to investigate a tip it received last month that the suspect and the florida school shooting had a desire to kill and access the guns, and could be plotting an attack. back in pennsylvania, a 15 year-old boy was rescued after being trapped inside of wind

caves in several hours in lancaster county. investigators say boy and group of friends and adults when he got stuck in the caves around 5:30 last night. crews had a hard time access ing the small area where boy was and weather made difficult getting there boy was finally freed at 1:30 this morning and taken to an area hospital as a precaution. a medical unit was involved in the crash this morning in philadelphia's germantown section. police and rescue crews were called to the scene at chew avenue and church lane at 7:00 . you can see front even of the white suv badly damage, one person was transported to an area hospital in unknown condition. so far it is unclear what caused the crash. thon 2018 is nearly over with 42 hours down and four more to go, penn state dance marathon, raises awareness and money for pediatric cancer. part which a purpose. ftk is the motto, for the kids , and for kids like key lonnie leboy who was diagnosed with written cancer as an infant. her mother, remembers the tears. >> it was very stressful, she was only given a 50 percent survival rate, so, yeah, it was very, very tough. >> reporter: thon four diamond s fund and penn state hershey's children hospital helped keylonnie make a full recovery. 4,000 families have benefited from thon over the years, three-year old mena whoran was diagnosed with leukemia a year ago. >> they give us gas vouchers for every trip that we make down there and anything outside of, our insurance four diamonds taken care of. >> reporter: kid like key lonnie and mena who inspired these penn staters to raise money and dance for 46 straight hours. taylor is a committee member at thon, she cut her hair

super heros, many shapes and sizes and ages showed up in camden, new jersey. they turnout for super hero autism activity day. super hero were parents, counselors, kid whose gathered at salvation army lacrosse center to have fun in a safe judgment free zone. kids got their faces painted, they ran obstacle course is, bounced around in bouncey houses and had snacks. day was sponsored by century health care, a national leader in providing analysis and therapy for children with

autism. time for accu weather the snow's out of here and we have a incredible week ahead. >> spring like temperatures on the way, lots of sunshine. lets get over to the weather center. it is not feeling like winter anytime soon. this is this morning but from this point temperatures will moderate here as we look at center city sky line, gorgeous day, mostly sunny conditions just a couple of clouds and numbers are already, up into the 40's. we're seeing that melting. 40 degrees far western counties, allentown, reading, lancaster all showing that number. millville 42. dover 43. cape may checking in at 41. there is a bit of the breeze so we are subtracting five or 6 degrees from those numbers but even still not too bad, 35 is wind in philadelphia, feels like 33 in allentown. thirty-five in trenton and 33 degrees, in cape may. officially for philadelphia, we will go, 42, with a dew point of 25, and believe it or not it was this dew point here that produced the snow, last

night, yesterday we had temperatures in the 40's but because the dew point was so slow as soon as it started precipitating the temperature tried to drop all the way down to that dew point number, flipped the rain over to snow and we saw big fat wet flakes accumulating very quickly there. if you are a snow already thank this number right here for snow we got last night. winds northwest at 13, wind chill again is 35 degrees. satellite, radar showing not much to look at, out there we have had just a couple cloud is a cross western counties and more cloud cover across western pennsylvania, and then this afternoon, the great lakes, western portions of the northeast that is bit. last night's storm is so far off to thee across canadian mar times it is not even on the map now. it is marching along. later this afternoon high temperatures will rain between 46 and 48, mostly sunny skies, just a couple cloud mixed from time to time. ever night tonight partly cloudy, seasonably cold, low temperatures close to freezing north and west, slightly above freezing in philadelphia, and

then 6:00 o'clock tomorrow morning lets say 34 on 35 across the i-95 corridor and right around freezing north and west. watch out for slick spots, re freeze developing again across western counties, most of the snow will melt here across i-95 corridor today but tomorrow there will be snow left over for areas west of the city. as we get in the mid-morning hours tomorrow the clouds will roll back in we will see a couple cloud nothing to terribly heavy at first but some could transition into a steady period of rain in the afternoon. look at how mild the temperatures are, 51 in millville. no snow this time in philadelphia. 48 degrees. forty-eight in trenton. forty-six in allentown. here comes the warm front so by 9:30 you can see temperatures are climbing, 50 degrees in philadelphia, winds shift nothing more south /westerly direction and watch what happens here with the temperature as we march along through tuesday, we are not really dropping off that much, monday night, tuesday afternoon, well, we should be about 66 to 70 degrees for the

forecast ted high but that will occur around three or four. this takes us out until 6:00. so we're back down to 62. but these locations between 65 and 70 degrees on tuesday and warmer as we head into wednesday afternoon 70 to 75. nice stuff on the way. so for tomorrow, it is day of transition early on north and west there could be icy patches once again, black ice, frozen slush be careful on the sidewalks and parking lots and then warm front gets in here by mid morning light rain, showers and some clouds, rolling in and then areas of fog start to develop monday night, dense fog with the passage of the front and then that opens up the door as we head into tuesday, everything clears out and really nice weather rolls in. 48 degrees in philadelphia today, reading 47, allentown 46, millville, cape may 48, sunny skies a few cloud mixed in and overnight tonight slightly below freezing north and west. watch out for refreeze black ice out there, 34 in philadelphia, 33 in cape may.

updating a four alarm blaze on chestnut street. and a florida student may have prevented more deaths, during a school shooting last week by risking his own life, and we will have the story. we will look at some of the problems drivers face after snow felon parts of the delaware valley this weekend. >> those stories and more in a moment but first meteorologist chris sowers starts us off with a look at the weekend forecast, hi there, chris. >> good afternoon, guys another quick look at snow fall totals around the region here, heaviest hit are locations well north and west of the city of philadelphia which is kind of typical in this part of the country here. wood side kent county in delaware 1 inch.

bridgeton cumberland county in new jersey 2 inches. florence, burlington county, new jersey, three and then numbers gets heavier and heavier further north and west you go. huffs church in berks county 7.4. allentown, lehigh valley, 8.3 inches. it was this area right in through here that pick up heaviest snow. it is well north and west of the i-95 corridor, part of the reason why they saw heavier snow one it stayed snow the entire time, column of air was much deeper. column of cold air was much deeper out in through here then what we saw across i-95 corridor. this area here all change over to wintry mix or rain at some point. and, then it quickly moved along on its way. temperatures are starting to moderate, there is no arctic air rushing on the back side so because of that temperatures are up in the mid 40's in some locations. forty-five in coatsville, malvern 44. quakertown pushing 40. bethlehem, 42 degrees right now. pick up 8 inches of snow. warminster 42. center city 42.

vineland 44. cinnaminson 43. lots of mid to low 40's across south jersey, delaware and a ton of sunshine. you can see it here all the way through mostly sunny sky. the call for today lots of sunshine a few clouds mixed in , mild afternoon highs around 48. nydia. >> chris, thank you. we will continue to follow developing news out of the olde city section of philadelphia, more than 100 fire fighters responded to a four alarm blaze, that forced many people to evacuate during early morning hours. "action news" reporter bob brooks live at the scene with what we are learning about the fire, and bob, what is the latest. nydia, very unfortunate, this fire was very intense, a lot of people unfortunately had been forced out of their homes who their belongings this morning. they are certainly our thoughts and prayers with them behind me here in the fire department still, hard at work , this building is still smoking, you can see several houses are directed right into the building that caught

flames initially. we will see them targeting the other adjacent buildings, they are spraying the one right next door, and instant smoke and cleared through the morning clear up into this afternoon and then as we pan the camera over to the left you will see crews now up on the building, several, several down, from this one here. so really impacting entire block. this is third and chestnut. you can see fire fighters up on the roof, so really a lot of property affected by this this was around 3:30 or 4:00 this morning and man, these flames were huge. when we first got down here. one of the worst fires i have personally seen. big problem fire department says that he were actually running into was when they initially sounded the alarms fire alarms were going off some people weren't evacuating that prompted another response by fire fighters having to go inside of the building, helping escort people out to the fire department, they want to remind everyone in the dire situation like that thaw heed

the warning and that you do come out. we spoke to some of the residents who had to make a quickest stape from these flames earlier this morning, lets take a listen. >> it went up in smoke in seconds. i may daughter, two and a half years old we run out. >> they did a good job keeping everybody calm. he had a calm suiting voice. nobody really panicked. >> reporter: another live look here, they have been busy, since the start of this thing and the work, continues. when we first got here the flames were from the bottom to the top, shooting out of the roof, you saw that in that video there. again just an unfortunate event for so many people, they lost their homes here, guys, but good news despite the immensity of the fire there are in reports of any injuries and for that so many people are thankful for. reporting live from olde city, bob brooks, channel six, "action news". >> bob, intense fire, so glad no one was hurt. thanks very much. and we will turn now to the tragedy in florida, a community is now grieving

after 17 people were shot and killed, high school on valentines day. this weekend we're actually learning about a hero student who turned himself into a human shield, shaving his classmates. abc's victor is in parkland florida right now with that teenager's story. >> he just called me and said doc... unaudible. >> it is a phone call no parent expects to receive, rodgers borges son anthony telling him owe has been shot multiple times at school. >> he was shot four times. >> four times. one here, one here. and another one, one here and another one here and two here. >> reporter: but the 15 year-old wasn't going down without a fight. his father tells us anthony saw gunman coming shot at classroom door, pressing his body weight against it while being shot protecting the 20 other students inside the classroom all of them, making it out alive. >> he is my hero.

reporting. 12:35. back home a woman was killed and two fire fighters injured during a fire in philadelphia 's fox chase section. blaze broke out around 6:30 last night at a home on the 7600 block of verree road near fauns. investigators say a woman believed to in her 70's was found dead on the second floor of the house. the 46 year-old fire fighter was taken to jefferson torresdale hospital after falling through the floor of the house. that fire fighters and another was hospitalized are both in stable condition. snow caused dangerous driving in walking conditions in bucks county overnight. snow began falling around 5:00 d conditions and visibility quickly went downhill. several accidents were reported, penndot warning that even though the snow has stopped and roads out there may still be a bit icy. snow also causing issues from the parkway to center city to southwest philadelphia , penndot preparing for the snow/rain mix earlier were 400 trucks out there on the roads and while that snow mostly turn to
