this noon, police are looking for a teenager who tried to bring a gun into a philadelphia school. >> late night heist armed robbers make off with $80,000 from a local hotel. but the big story on "action news" is the on going danger at the site of a large fire in old city philadelphia. the flames broke out at 3rd and chestnut early yesterday morning and quickly spread through apartments, restaurants and hotel. as officials look for a possible cause, there's concern that one of the dajtd -- damaged buildings may collapse. jeanette reyes has been on the scene all morning long and filed this report. >> reporter: this morning, third and chestnut along with surrounding streets were blocked off after a massive fire tore through two large buildings sunday morning. cindy john son and her husband were at the best western when the flames broke out. >> western in bed sleeping when

the fire alarm went off. >> reporter: atf crews were on site collecting evidence. several businesses were burned out or suffered significant water and smoke damage including the fairly new little line restaurant. >> when we came hear, the fire was still going and we saw everything was closed off, so we just went home. happy it didn't catch fire. >> i grabbed my wedding rings and purse we put on the clothing we have on now. >> residents said they believe it started in the residential building next to the hotel. fire officials say the building owner has been asked to take down the fire escape at the front of the buildings to lessen the weight on the weakening structure. the depdy fire commissioner said it's no surprise given the four hours it took to extinguish the

horsham and north wales road. it is unclear if any charges will be filed against the driver. the young survivors of the deadly school shooting is calling for gun control. the president has released a statement addressing gun violence. the president is open to tougher federal background checks for purchases. >> reporter: president trump said he skipped golf this weekend out of respect for the school shooting. from his resort on saturday, he accused the fbi of being do distracted by the russian investigation to follow up on a tip about the shooter. he tweeted sad the fbi missed all the signals sent out by the florida school shooter this is not acceptable him they are spending too much time trying to approve russian collusion with the trump campaign.

approaching the entrance of the charter school on thursday afternoon. he pulled the handgun from his waistband and placed itness pocket before he tried to get in the building. police believe the suspect is between 13 and 16 years old. if you recognize him, contact philadelphia police. local authorities are looking for several men involved in a vicious attack in center city. the suspects began punching and kicking a 2-year-old man on the 1,000 block of pine street february 8. police believe the victim had been involved in a verbal dispute with his attackers and treated for several injuries including a broken jaw. supreme court is proposing a new congressional map for 2018 election. the new ma'am -- map would replace the old boundaries
