the court earlier said the 2011 map drawn up under governor corbett and the republican legislature was unconstitutional it was biased to voters in pennsylvania. so, it invited the legislature and governor wolf to come up with other options but the court also had the option of an expert on staff and they drew up this new map which they've now issued. one pundit has already said this is a democratic's dream come true. that maybe something of an overstatement but we did talk to terri mcdonagh. he says they really need to have a deep dive into the data here. preprecinct by precinct. he says it will help the congressional candidates come this fall. at this point he thinks that democrats will pick up somewhere between three to four seats under the new map. there's 18 congressional seats in pennsylvania. right now republicans hold 13 of them. even though democrats

outnumber republicans in the state by some 800,000. he thinks at this point along with other experts who have looked at this that this is probably going to be a better map for democrats. now, what will the republicans do? well, that will be the next shoe to drop. the republican leadership says they plan to go federal court and they will challenge this map when it was and issued. they are going to try find a federal judge who will end join it and stop it at this point in time their argument being that the pennsylvania supreme court does not have the authority to draw this kind of map so we're only an hour into this. it is going to be a long hard fought political battle in the coming days, weeks and possibly months. we shall see. live in king of prussia, john rawlins channel6 "action news." >> a lot more voices surely to weigh in. john thank you. salem county where the woods town ambulance company is reeling from a fire. all ambulances are either

damaged or destroyed. no one was injured. bob brooks live for us at the scene. bob you talked to some of the emts who were inside when the flames broke out. >> reporter: yeah, sharrie, i didn't the building if i were officials think it started on this end closest to me right now. all emt's were on duty they were on the other side. behind me here you can see just how bad this damage is, sharrie. those are the two of the six ambulances that were here. you can see at this point there is nothing left of them. that's just one ambulance. sadly everyone at the woodstown american legion ambulance association was destroyed or badly damaged. everything inside as well. as you can imagine, for place that 47 people earn a living from, what happened is tough to see. >> it's definitely hard. i've been here for seven years, you know, three years since we've gotten paid. it's like home to me. >> reporter: that's lauren

conrad. she and rebecca roberts were on duty when the fire broke out around 4:00 a.m. >> we were resting mine partner came in and everybody's got to get out of here. we're like why do we have to get out of here? we didn't know. we thought maybe there was a call or something and we ran out and there was smoke everywhere. >> reporter: they're resilient. >> we've rebuilt. we stick together and work together as a team i cell phone video shows how quickly the flames spread. officials say inside there was plenty of fuel to burn that includes oxygen tanks exploding as the fire went through the building. sounds like one of them going off was also caught on cell phone video. you can see by the show of people here today how much the ambulance company means to this community. the good news is all employees are going to keep working. service is up and running thanks to several companies lending a helping hand. >> we've had a couple ambulances from gloucester county cover us during the incident. our neighboring town over in

elmer, they've given us one of their ambulances to use though is the in service now for us. >> reporter: and we just watched as one of those ambulances that were lent here go out to a call in this area. back out live the investigation continues. at this point no word of a cause just yet but the president of the ambulance association here thinks there could be upwards of $2 million worth of damage. for now reporting live in woodstown, bob brooks channel6 "action news." brian. >> bob, thank you. investigators now using arson dogs to comb through the scene of a four alarm fire in olde city. the flames broke out yesterday morning near third and chestnut. new video from chopper6 shows the damage to the apartments restaurant and the best western independence park hotel. earlier today many of the evacuated hotel guests were still waiting to get back inside to get their belongings. >> we were in bed sleeping and the fire alarm in the room went off and i could

immediately smell smoke so i felt like there was a problem. i grabbed my wedding rings and my purse. we pretty much put on the clothing we have on now. >> as crews from the a atf search for a cause officials are concerned that one of the buildings may collapse and is now slated for demolition. extension, lehigh valley, but it's drier all points down to the south. that's where our warm front is draped and you can see at this point that cold air that continues to lock in just east of appalachian mountains. it's called cold air damning as it gets wedged in and it takes a little extra time to bring in the warmth that's behind this warm front. in fact we take a look at the numbers, 48 philadelphia, just 50 in richmond but you go to charleston west virginia, 74 degrees. 75 in nashville. records broken down into the deep south and all that warmth is heading our way. as we take a look at 4 o'clock tomorrow afternoon 70 philadelphia, 72 in washington, near 80 in charleston west virginia with all that cold air being pushed well to the north. so, as we get into the day tomorrow we're looking at record tying highs of 70 degrees set back in 1339 and record breaking possibly on wednesday of 73 degrees and 1930 a little more sunshine tomorrow compared -- wednesday compared to tomorrow. we'll chat about that and then

a very unsettled pattern heading into the end of the week, brian, in that full accuweather forecast. >> all right, adam thank you. the accused gunman in the florida school shooting made his first appearance in a courtroom today. nikolas cruz did not speak at the procedural hearing nor did he make eye contact with the judge. this is the first time he has physically appeared in a courtroom. the last time was via video link. cruz is that charged with killing 17 people at last week's attacks at marjory stoneman douglas high school. survivors have been leading the change to chinch gun laws. >> they're making their voices heard their presence felt in the wake of that massacre young people all across the country staging protests. today in washington outside the white house 17 student members of teens for gun reform staged a lie in for three minutes. 17 to represent the number of people killed in the attack, three minutes they say to signify how long it reportedly took the shooter to buy an

ar-15 rifle. also in plantation, florida, today, students were protesting on the football field. also calling for changes to gun laws and tomorrow about 100 students are heading to florida's capitol to take their message to state lawmakers. then next month students are calling for nationwide walkouts and marches demanding an tend to gun violence. >> march 24th, in every single city we are going to be marching together as students begging for our lives. we feel neglected and at this point you're either with us or against us. >> and the students certainly making their voices heard banding together. a florida state senator meanwhile says they're preparing a sweeping package of gun legislation for that state which includes new age restrictions. today the white house says president trump is in favor of improving the background check system for gun sales. they also say bipartisan talks are under way to change gun sale regulations.

president trump is also holding a listening session with high school students and teachers later this week. he also plans to meet with state and local officials to discuss school safety. sharrie. >> these teens not standing by quietly. all right, alicia. back here closer to home it's been 13 years since danielle imbo and richard petrone were last seen on south street and there's still no sign of the missing couple. the fbi philadelphia division is asking yet again for the public's help as they continue to investigate the disappearance that happened february 19th, 2005. well, they left a bar on south street late that night and were heading towards petrone's black 2001 dodge tack cota pickup truck. there is a $50,000 reward for information on the couple's whereabouts. if it leads to an arrest. the number to call is 215-546-tips. philadelphia police hope someone can identify this man who is wanted to are for assaulting a pregnant woman. investigators say he kicked

going to be slow as you come off the schuylkill expressway. and because of that huge fire in olde city yesterday, there's still restrictions in area along chestnut between second and third, those local streets blocked off in olde city. we've had two accidents already this afternoon along 422 westbound. right now we're looking at route 23 right by 422 and it appears they may be clearing out one of those accidents as we watch. bottom line is we can see from the travel time watch out for extra slowing on the westbound side of 422 coming out of king of prussia and plenty of slowing here. time for the commuter report. let's check the waze app because we're looking at the same situation, a crash on 95 southbound as you head into maryland just away from the delaware state line near elkton, here and a lot of slow speeds, 3 miles per hour, 5 miles per hour. pulaski highway, not 95 southbound coming out of the first state. we'll check it again brian and sharrie in the next half hour. >> thanks for that president's day info.

visitor, jason kelce, the eagles center who gave of course one of the greatest speeches of all time at the eagles super bowl parade. he gives the phillies a speech today. >> everybody's on fire right now. i mean, the flyers, sixers are doing their thing, the phillies there's a lot of excitement around this ball club right here. it's just a great time to be involved in sports in philadelphia to say the least. >> reporter: you didn't want to wear your mummers outfit for them and get them fired up. >> i might be sweating a little bit too much if i had that out here. >> i thought the message was tremendous. he was very articulate in describing what went on for them over the last calendar year. it wasn't word for word everything that went down but some of the most important things he touched on is how the eagles saw themselves as underdogs and what a powerful inspirational position that is to be in. i thought he hammered that message home beautifully. >> reporter: kelce a big hit at phillies spring training.

lots of brotherly love between the fleas and eagles. kapler wanted the center to speak so they could hit home that strong message. like the eagles nobody is expecting much from the phillies. both sixers and flyers 11 and one since the super bowl, why not the phils and phils left fielder rhys hoskins says he got chills talking to me about recalling kelce's message and it fired him up for his first full squad workout here in clearwater. maybe it will rub off. with the phillies in clearwater jeff skversky channel6 "action news." >> jeff, catch you later. residents in west philadelphia woke up to find their vehicles damaged by bullets. at least two parked cars were hit by gunfire overnight along the 5000 block of haverford avenue. a number of shell casings were visibly there on the ground. police have been checking area hospitals to see if anyone was hurt or injured but they have not been able to locate any

gunshot victims at this point. armed robbers made off with $80,000 during a heist at a hotel in northeast philadelphia. police say they took the money from a guest's room last night at the roosevelt inn on roosevelt boulevard. investigators were questioning four people in connection to the crime but they have not made any arrests. we are still working to find out why the robbery victim was carrying so much cash. >> well, for rhode island couple their dream wedding went off without a hitch but the reception started with something they never could have imagined. >> one of her bridesmaids came up to me and whispered in my ear we have a situation that's going on. >> bit of a situation. the bride and two wedding planners got stuck in the elevator. they were on their way up to the cocktail hour at the providence built more hotel. firefighters arrived quickly but in the end it was an elevator technician that saved the day. >> 26 years i've never seen anything like this.

fog will be developing overnight and it could be dense at times through tomorrow morning but after that fog burns off mid to late morning tomorrow near records for tuesday and especially here on wednesday and take advantage of it because clouds and showers really dreary end of the week heading into the upcoming following weekend. right now 40 degrees, much cooler off to the north, allentown, reading, lancaster. 48 degrees philadelphia and then you bounce into the 50's for millville, dover and the atlantic city airport right now coming in at 52 degrees. as we look at storm tracker6 live double scan, a few again showers passing through trenton, parts of burlington county. they quickly pass through northeast philadelphia. northeast extension starts to turn wet just north of the lansdale exit heading towards quakertown lehigh valley, also berks county some damp roadways. no heavy rain but just some light showers passing by. as we take a look at snowfall totals for the season so far after this weekend's snow, allentown picked up over a half a foot of snow over the

weekend. so far they're just over 2 feet of snow for the winter season. just about an inch or so, inch and a half above normal. the departure in wilmington, philadelphia, down 2-inches from normal but pretty close to it with just over a half a foot -- i mean just over a foot for the season so far and look at atlantic city at the airport, near 2 feet of snow, 11-inches above normal for the season down there with some coastal storms that really whacked them early in the season. here comes the cold front. watch for the fog late tonight. 47 dover, cape may at 45 degrees. future tracker tomorrow morning you wake up in a fog, so to speak with temperatures in the 50's and it's going the take some time to burn that fog off but once it does and some peeks of sun tomorrow afternoon temperatures getting to near 70 in philadelphia, which would be record tying from 1939. we should be shy by a degree or two elsewhere across the region but still very warm for this time of year. and in fact that four day at

troubling. >> but we're going to begin here at 4:30 way berks county city seemingly endless battle to keep their buildings and streets clean. the issue is not about sanitation it's about consideration. mainly a lack of it from the graffiti artists constantly vandalizing reading. walter perez live there now with how the city is trying to combat this problem. walter. >> reporter: brian, of course graffiti is a problem in many urban areas across the country and reading is no different. the plan is to clean things up as best as possible with a little help from the people of reading. city officials in reading have started a major cleanup effort it involves sprucing up public alleys. >> the graph feet in the city of reading and we're working hard to curb that but it's a difficult situation. >> reporter: reading public works director ralph johnson says it's difficult because of the shear volume of graffiti across the city coupled with

the difficulty of finding the people responsible. maria owns a bakery on holy street. she showed us cell phone video of the last time she showed up only to find the entire outside wall covered with graffiti and she says it happens at least once every month. [speaking foreign language] >> reporter: she says "i can't have it. i'm trying to run a business and i spend half my life painting and cleaning the outside. it's frustrating ." the city's cleanup program include painting over graffiti or power washing but she does the work itself saying the city doesn't always use paint that matches the previous cover. we spoke with people who say any effort to clean things up is appreciated. >> it kind of detracts from the city. makes the city a lot less professional looking. >> i don't think parents teach children to respect property or people anymore. >> reporter: city fishes say they do try to use paint that matches the previous colors on

those walls but they're saying it's not as feasible as you might think. also they're asking residents to report any graffiti they find in their neighborhood through the official city app or by calling the public works department to stay on top of it as best they can. reporting live from reading was there perez channel6 "action news". >> philadelphia police asking for help tracking down two robbers. surveillance video shows two masked men walking into the little caesar's on the 3600 block of aramingo avenue just before 10:30 last thursday. well, they immediately pointed a gun at the 22-year-old worker's head and forced him to open the register and then the safe. fortunately the employee was not hurt. but if you have any information about this holdup, east detectives would like to hear from you. also this. a gunman remains at large after a shooting in broad daylight in north philadelphia. a man in his 20's was shot multiple times in the legs at 11:30 this morning on the 1100

block of west silver street. medics rushed him to temple university hospital. eats said to be in critical condition. police are still working, though, to identify a possible suspect and to determine a possible motive. >> police in montgomery township investigating a deadly accident at a busy intersection. officials say a pedestrian was killed after being hit by a car just after 5 o'clock this morning. it happened near horsham and north wales roads. it's unclear at this point if there will be any charges filed against the driver. chopper6 was over the aftermath of a rollover crash in evesham township new jersey. officials say a driver lost control causing the vehicle to overturn and hit a utility pole on route 73. >> the eagles super bowl victory parade was more than a week ago but philadelphia police are still pursuing anyone who might have vandalized the city during the celebrations. investigators released these images today. they show a group who climbed on top of a septa bus stop shelter at 15th and j.f.k. in

evening. in fact, it's a mile and a half there in reading, less than that in lancaster, two and a half mile visibility allentown, but much better, 10-mile visibility is actually perfect and it's that way philadelphia millville down to wildwood. so please use caution here this evening and overnight tonight. fog will be expanding. it will be locally dense and it is going to be an issue for tomorrow morning's rush hour and one thing about fog, which basically is a cloud at ground level it's little water droplets when using your headlights, never use high beams. the more light you put out, the more light refracts back into your eyes. low beams only. we'll chat about the record guys coming up over the next two days in the full accuweather forecast. sharrie. >> adam thanks. the valley forge visitor's center hosted a birthday party for our first commander-in-chief. the action cam was invited to george washington's 286th bash today even though his actual

schuylkill onto city avenue expect slowing southbound. in front of us, channel6, there's construction blocking one of the two southbound lanes and slowing us down. and because of that huge fire from over the weekend in olde city, chestnut street, second and third are all still closed so stay up on market. use the numbered streets like fifth and sixth but expect some congestion there in olde city. in pottstown by the ice house have a bad crash this afternoon along king street at manatawny. a center lane blocked giving us really slow speeds coming out of new castle, just 15 miles per hour. you might want to think about going up to the commodore barry depending on where you're heading and using that to get into south jersey. if you're trying to get into maryland from delaware, better news on that side of the fence. the crash southbound on 95 near northeast as cleared. still some residual slowing, though, coming out of newark. we'll check it again, brian and sharrie, coming up in the 5 o'clock hour. >> all right my friend. thank you. meteorologist adam joseph standing by with that

there skiing and snowboarding but you can see the fog in the distance there setting in and i tell you, the ski resorts going to take a hit this week with warm temperatures day and night and rain on top of it. as we take a look at storm tracker6 live double scan, speaking of rain, very light showers well north of the city. parts of northern montgomery county bucks county lehigh valley but it's about to exit and push to the north and east here so some damp roadways, even though the evening rush isn't all that heavy given, again, many of us have the day off today but we'll continue to say goodbye to these showers and hello to that warmth. let's chat about it here. temperatures still cool to the north and west, reading, allentown near 40 degrees. jumping to 48 philadelphia and 50's down to the south so that warm air trying to push in from the south and the west. this warm front continues to drift through, again, missing most of this rain off to the north here so this won't be collapsing in overnight tonight. in fact, any of those early showers are gone. areas of fog will expand from

the west to the east. 38 in those northern suburbs early tonight, 45 degrees for center city with that south-southwesterly wind 48 miles an hour. it's really a tale of two seasons here across the country. whenever you look at the weather typically what happens on the west coast is opposite of the east coast. it's almost a seesaw effect. jet stream carving through the center of the country dipping very cold weather for the rockies as well as the west, california there are freeze warnings, not good for the crops trying to grow there. but for us high pressure really starting to pump up just off the east coast here sending that powerful southeasterly ridge and warm southwesterly winds our way moving that jet stream north of quebec. this typical pattern that we see in the summertime, if this was setting up in the summer with 25 degrees above normal temperatures for this week for us if it was in the summer we would be talking about 100 plus degrees. that's how unusually warm that high pressure is right now, so as we go into the day

tomorrow, again, morning clouds and fog but it will break for some sun in the afternoon and that's what's going to move those temperatures upper 60's to near 70 for philadelphia, cooler at the shore, though, only 50's there and then we're going to head well into the 70's on wednesday, 73 philadelphia, near 80 in washington and richmond. but here is the cold coming in and that arrives here on thursday. so, the exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast, 70's for the next two days, a lot of fog tomorrow morning. springlike, some sunshine in the afternoon and then sun and high clouds wednesday with that record warmth of 73. and then the pattern just looks, eh, thursday, friday, saturday, sunday -- thursday friday cool in the 40's with rain at times. it's warmer over the weekend in the 60's but a rain threat both saturday and on and off into sunday and still cloudy on monday, 56 degrees. so, take advantage of the 70's and the sun the next two days because the pattern is yech for the rest of the week. >> thanks adam.
