philadelphia neighborhood into a demolition derby. we'll show you viewer video of the destruction as it's happening. old city community is reeling from the four-alarm inferno that ripped through a business. storm tracker 6 live is tracking more damp and dreary weather today with periods of heavy rain. let's get to accuweather with meteorologist chris sowers. hi chris. >> reporter: good morning, to you guys, welcome to seattle. that's what it looks like out here. we have more fog settling in. the roads are dry, but we're seeing the light mist fall along the mist, the visibility continues to drop off as well. we have a dense fog in effect for chester and lancaster counties until 8:00 a.m. everybody else will not see the visibility drop off like they will to the west. we're seeing .3 in millville. under a mile in dover. 2 1/2 in allentown. .3 in lancaster/chester area.

as we look at the temperatures, the good news, the numbers are nice and mild and looks like, we're having problems with the clicker, doesn't want to advance him temperatures are actually fairly mild, tell you what, bring the camera back out on me, as we continue to have problems, but, again, the roads are dry, i'm not able to show you the radar at this time. when i come back we'll focus on the rain heading this way later this afternoon. it will stick around tomorrow afternoon. rainfall totals could exceed an inch in some locations. if you have outdoor plans this weekend make sure you have the umbrella on standby. i'll have the details on future tracker 6 when i see you in just a few minutes. >> folks, 6:01 a.m., there's noosks -- new information to tell you about, dozens of people waking up to sounds of an out-of-control driver smashing

cars in a south philadelphia neighborhood. that would be frightening to wake up. "action news" viewer showing the scene at third and porter street before 11:00 p.m. the street was turned into a demolition derby. the driver smashed a truck into 16 cars. several had to be towed from the scene. the driver's truck was badly damaged. the driver was held at the scene. we're waiting for more information from police. firefighters pulled a person from a burning home in west philadelphia. crews quickly put out the fire on the 4300 block of ludlow street. the injured person was taken to penn presbyterian hospital. we're working to learn about the person's condition. >> it's been almost a week since this big fire gutted a building and damaged another one in an old city neighborhood. the aftermath is dealing an economic punch to the old city 200 block of chestnut street.

jeff chirico takes a look at people rallying together. >> there's a lot of people walking around. >> reporter: but this friday night, third and chestnut is considered a collapse zone with police cars blocking the devastating fire scene at least one nearby business had plenty of empty tables. others like the best western hotel and the water damage little lion restaurant is still closed leaving dozens out of work. >> five days later we're not allowed in the building. reality sets in, we don't have any information. >> reporter: owner chris young estimates the little lion won't reopen for at least two months. he put out a call on facebook to find positions for his 08 staff members. >> the city tavern reached out. >> we said if you're employees want to come here, permanently or temporarily we'll be more than happy to take them off their hands. >> i'm overwhelmed how many people responded, it was very,

very cool. >> reporter: the city announced plans to demolish what remains of 237 chestnut street next week. the apartment building was destroyed sunday morning forcing 160 people to evacuate. although it still stands, preservation advocates say the 170-year-old facade is too deteriorated to save. >> hard because the 200 block of chestnut street is one of the most intact rows or blocked of 19th century fabric we have in the city. >> reporter: meanwhile, crowning is talking to insurance companies and planning a fundraiser for the out of work staff grateful to the community that rally around them. >> not everybody has found a job, but there should be enough offers out there to potentially land everybody. >> reporter: there's an iron facade that will be salvaged we're told. demolition will begin next week and will last a week, so if you

come down here be aware of road closures, jeff chirico channel 6 "action news." >> we continue to follow the aftermath of the florida school shooting massacre. new revelations are coming to live but the accused shooter. we're learning more through calls made to law enforcement about the alleged shooter in the weeks and months before the tragedy in parkland florida. a person with a tip called in in in january, told the officer i know he is going to explode. she feared the shooter getting into a school and shooting up the place. fbi admitting the information was never passed on to the miami field office and the fbi director briefed congress about the flawed process yesterday. broward county sheriff's office said they were called to nicholas cruz's home, 23 times. released was 911 audio one

believed to be cruz. >> i lost my mother and i'm dealing with a bunch of things right now. >> reporter: teachers returned to marjory stoneman douglas high school in parkland florida, they are planning for the transitional opening of the school for the students. >> florida governor rick scott broke with president trump in arming teachers, he called for armed officers in every school. he called for the age of buying a rifle from 18 to 21. he did not call for a ban on the rifle that cruz used. president trump called for bonuses for teachers who are willing to be armed in school. there's a small, but growing corporate backlash to the nra. many are cutting ties no longer

offering programs or products to nra members, they include -- some of the this raps to be the rule of -- some of this appears to be the direct pressure from social media campaign. robert mueller at russian metaling investigation continues to heat up. 45-year-old rick gates pleading guilty to conspiracy and false statements charges. gates is cooperating with the robert mueller investigation. he was the business partner of former chairman paul man ford who was indicted with additional charges yesterday. robert mueller's strategy seems to be put pressure on paul manafort that he gives up what he knows about the president and the russians. secret set service agents arrested a woman who intentionally drove into a security barrier near the white

unbelievable warm temperatures for this february, it's should be cold and stormy. march be the pattern will start to turn colder. especially the first two weeks and stormy, that brings areas of low pressure off the eastern seaboard. it doesn't mean snow, but the temperatures are expected to be colder over the next couple of weeks than what we've been experiencing the last two weeks in the philadelphia area. the good news we are gaining more daylight. even if we start to see systems that produce snow in our neck of the woods again, the angle of the sun is getting high now, the temperatures are milder overall, the snow will not stick around nearly as long if were december or january. this is the time of year you can get snow, but it should not last long because of the sun angle. radar is clear, we have clouds and patchy drizzle and mist going on, that's about it. the fog settling in. .3 in lancaster. we have dense fog advisory.

lancaster and chester that's in effect until 8:00 a.m. we have a pocket of dozens fog developing over the delaware bay from vineland and millville, south and bridgeton and cedarville and agenda beach and for the -- gandys beach and fortescue area. mild temperatures, 44 in philadelphia. millville, 46. allentown, 42. cape may, 43. the numbers will climb pretty rapidly this afternoon. highs today in the 50s. not too bad temperature-wise, all this is slide in here shortly after lunchtime. heading into the ohio, south of chicago, a lot of heavy stuff you see, the yellows and oranges will lift north up to the great lakes, the bulk of the lighter rains will slide across the pennsylvania, new jersey, delaware areas as we head into the late afternoon hours. future tracker 6 showing that exact same thing. lunchtime, light rain or showers

across southeastern pennsylvania, and mild temperatures. that continues throughout the day, same thing, showers and lighter periods of rain continuing through the evening hours croant -- overnight tonight. tomorrow morning we'll see steadier rain, that will calm down and transition over to afternoon showers. the warm front punches through, how far north it gets is up in the air at this point. it will make a huge difference in the temperatures. you stay on the northern side of the front. you'll be 40s. if you're south of the front. you will be in the mid 60s. 64 in millville. dover 63 degrees. lots of clouds, more rain and drizzle, the heaviest occurs tonight into tomorrow morning, rainfall totals could be half inch to an inch. if you're not picking up the rain and drizzle look out for fog.

us, 6:21 a.m., sales of existing homes have dropped by 3% not because people are not looking. rising supplies and shortage. available homes are to blame for the fall in prices. the drop from december to january, the second straight decline in sales for homes. the number of homes per sales has dipped by 1.5 million which is the fewest of any since january when record keeping began in 1999. a survey found a debit card is used 44% of the time. while a credit card is used 34% of the time.

right now. actually even the mist has stopped. if you have outdoor plans bring along this guy you'll need it later. dense fog advisory for chester and lancaster county. visibility in this part of the viewing area down to less than a yachterrer of a mile. we have a pocket of dense fog developing around the delaware bay. millville, .3 of a mile. philadelphia, 3 miles, allentown looks like you have dropped to 2 1/2 miles. as we look at the satellite and radar, more of the same if you liked yesterday's weather you'll love today, clouds, mist and drizzle during the late morning hours, that will transition over to periods of lighter rain later this afternoon. tomorrow, pretty much looks like the same thing. this area of moisture here which is currently pushing through the ohio valley, you can see some of it is heavy with the oranges and reds and yellows. that will pull through. we won't clear until that swings through, that won't be until sometime tomorrow afternoon.

after it was revealed he did not run into the school. peterson a disgraced former sheriff deputy characterized himself is a strong pro active officer who was not shrinked in the face of danger. this is an incident he described in 2015. >> there were four males inside the calf steer i can't. i chase the them -- cafeteria. i apprehended two of them, threw them in the back, kept going, grabbed the other two. >> officials say peterson was a stellar officer before the valentine's day massacre. he was a former employee of the month and former school resource officer of the year. peterson has been working at the high school since 2005, he is reportedly quote distraught over the shooting.

student and said he idlizes serial killers. the student contacted the director of school security who alerted lehman about that, he is charged with making terroristic threats. several school districts around the condition are banning backpacks as a way to make schools safer. school leaders who made the changes at eastern ohio school are looking to give their students extra time to swap out their textbooks, students will be able to carry small purses and lunch boxes. fire officials are trying to figure out what sparked an enormous blaze in the lehigh valley that canceled classes for students. flames destroyed buses the flames erupted with tires bursting off their rims.

officials canceled classes and hope they resume on monday. one teenager turned himself in after a fight in delaware. 18-year-old randy rickert is faces charges. assault. two other suspects have not been identified, but planning to surrender. >> late reverend billy graham comes home to charlotte, north carolina. his casket will make the 130-mile trip from a moapt chapel in ash -- mountain chapel in asheville to charlotte. it's the first time a private citizen has been accorded such recognition since civil rights hero rosa parks in 2005. he will laid to rest march 2.
